  1. You're doing something wrong then. The entire Rage Tail line is made up of very durable plastic. I've had Rage Shads last through 10 fish, but there are times that I set the hook on a fish and he just got the tail. That usually results in the retrieval of a tail less shad, but not that doesn't happen often. I've NEVER lost a tail on a cast.
  2. Are you saying that it is illegal in Chicago? Or is it something particular to the waters that you fish? I'm in the western suburbs of Chicago and the Illinois regulations say nothing that would classify fishing with live bluegill as illegal. The Illinois Fishing Information booklet has a section titled "Bluegill as Bait". It specifically states:
  3. It's legal in Illinois too.
  4. Incorrect. It's legal in Florida. http://floridafisheries.com/rules.html With the internet this stuff takes less than 5 minutes to figure out.
  5. I pretty much agree with this! But not this. People actually like beer that tastes like that. I personally don't, but there is a lot of really good brewers who make IPA's so they aren't making poor beer. IPA's came about in order to get beer to India on the long boat rides. The hops are the preservative in beer so adding a greater quantity made for beer that would stay "fresh" longer. Too bad it also makes it taste like garbage!
  6. Why would you, the label says American Ale. Overall, American style beers (not Light Lagers like Bud/Miller/Coors) have more hop bitterness than their British counterparts. I definately prefer the British Ale over the American Ale for just this reason.
  7. Now THERE is a good idea if I've ever head one!!! I can't wait to get a new Citica 200E. The 200D's are sweet, but a bit too bulky for jig/soft plastic fishing.
  8. The symetre is a fantastic reel. I have one and love it. And paying $50 for it is a real good deal. I just looked at the new models this morning and they have me interested in picking up another one. The winter is going to be tough to get through without emptying my wallet too much!!!
  9. RBOB Gas is down to 225.50 THAT needs to work its way through the system. We're still at around 3.70.
  10. The dollar is actually higher now than it was in Oct 2007. Also, oil prices falling IS a factor even if the dollar keeps losing value. A smaller percentage of one's income would go to buy petroleum products leaving a larger percentage for the goods that are imported (whose dollar costs will rise as the dollar falls in value). This is a good thing. If the price of oil kept rising that would also be an increased cost to the US consumer resulting in a double whammy of increased costs for imported goods as well as increased petroleum costs. With the price of oil falling and the dollar gaining value again that double whammy doesn't exist.
  11. Tru-Tungsten for me Why does the Spro one seem to only have a spot for one treble hook? The removable weights on the Tru-Tungsten are a plus too. Also, I fish waters where the primary forage is not shad, but rather bass and bluegill. So the color selection is another plus for the Tru-Tungsten, at least for me.
  12. Well, Mohinder already knew most everything about the mutations. He only needed to find the trigger and Maya's anger led him to that cause. He left and then the next scene is him developing the shot. How much time passed between scenes? Could have been a while. Plus, he already had developed his "vaccine" so he pretty much had the shot all worked out already. Then when Maya found out that he made the shot she almost talked him out of it. He didn't give himself the shot until the next scene which was at night and not during the day when he created the shot. Seems pretty "logical" to me.
  13. Present time Peter sucks big time. He has tons of powers that he doesn't really know how to use effectively so instead he bumbles around. It's part of the story. If he could use all of his powers effectively then the entire show would be over in about 10 seconds because Peter would just freeze time and then get rid of all of the bad guys. For the show to continue the "Present Time Peter" has to be an idiot in regards to his powers. Also, for those that say it doesn't matter if he gets shot or not that is technically true, but he still feels the pain of being shot. Can't say that I'd willingly sign up for that one if I could get out of it. Hero's is the best show on tv.
  14. You're best bet is to find someone close to you who fishes regularly and then go out and fish with them. You'll get hands on experience and he'll be able to show you specifically how things work. If you can't do that, I'd change up the live bait setup until you start catching fish. If you're bobber fishing then tie the hook to the end of the line, put your bobber on and go fishing. You want to limit the amount of weight that you have on the setup to as little as possible. If you can cast the setup effectively without a weight, then don't use one. The added weight causes an unnatural feel for the fish and some times that will cause them not to take the offering. Also, in many instances you're going to want to fish deeper than 1-2 feet. You want you're bait to be where the fish are. So, if the tops of the weeds or the bottom of the pond are 4' down, then you want to set your bobber at just under 4'. Another point, if you're fishing a plastic lure then don't put it under a bobber. The angler has to give the piece of plastic the necessary action to entice the fish to bite. The plastic itself isn't typically going to attract a fish. If you're fishing plastic worms (Senkos or Berkley power worms are two good options) pick up some bullet weights and say 2/0 or 3/0 worm hooks. Search this site for texas rigging to find the instructions on how to do that and then fish that worm SLOWLY, and by slowly I mean really freaking slow. A single cast could take a couple of minutes. If you want to try crankbaits I would go out and by some Rapala Jointed Minnows. These are lures that have been extraordinarily successful for a LONG time. Nearly every angler has some in their tacklebag. The Red Eye shad is a quality lipless crankbait, but I for one have a difficult time catching fish on lipless crankbaits. Most people don't, but I just can't get the hang of them. Another proven fish catcher is a Rooster tail or Mepps spinner. These things catch everything from bluegill to bass to musky to salmon. Don't buy the musky sized one though. And just to reiterate something I mentioned above. Search this site (not just the forum) for info. There is a ridiculous amount of high quality information here.
  15. 4, 2 baitcasters and 2 spinning setups. 1 baitcaster for jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits 1 baitcaster for crankbaits, topwaters 1 spinning setup for soft plastics 1 spinning setup for everything else too small for my baitcast setups I may try and add another baitcasting setup to have a dedicated jig setup and then one free for spinnerbaits/buzzbaits. I fish from shore so I'll take all of this and work it until I figure out what is working the best then I'll only carry the setup or two that are working the best.
  16. Structure is good regardless of depth. My favorite spot to fish is a rip rapped bottom inflow from one pond to the second pond. There is a drop from 1ft to about 5ft at this inlet. It's all covered in rock. Feeding fish constantly move up to this little drop off to find food that is brought directly to them. I cast up into the inlet and bring my bait down the current. My second favorite spot is in the first pond of the chain mentioned above. A small creek flows into it, however, since the bottom is not rock that creek has created a channel. The bigger fish hang out in the bottom of that channel. So, I think I answered yes to your question that structure fishing works very well even in shallow water. I look at the above spots as little "micro" structures that hold bass because the remainder of the pond is like a bowl with no other discernible structure.

Everyone except those that actually lived within their means.
  18. ok, I admit that I graduated in 1995. It wasn't me I swear!!! Anyways, I was just trying to clear up some inaccuracies. I do agree that the issue could have been handled better, but Hookem is still in high school and allowed mistakes. The principal should know better than to threaten the students as he did.
  19. He was asking if you "pegged" the weight so that it didn't slide on the line. You can do this with a piece of a toothpick or other method of affixing the weight to the line so that the weight does not move.
  20. Who actually owns the walls of a school? It certainly isn't the principal. I doubt that he'd be able to afford the mortgage on a place that large on an administrators salary.
  21. Sorry, this is factually incorrect.
  22. That's pretty much exactly what is happening already. AIG as it was no longer exists. The shareholders of AIG lost 80% of the company when the gov't took over because the gov't took an 80% equity stake in the company. It's actually much worse than crazy. If the country printed that much money the dollar would essentially become worth significantly less in the world market. All commodities would skyrocket, import costs would skyrocket, etc, etc. Creating more money on that kind of a scale is economic suicide. Many countries have tried it, they all have failed miserably. .

The shad is killer where the cover is a bit too much for a buzzbait, but the time is right for a buzzbait. It also works outside of emergent vegetation. It's a good bait. A bit expensive, but that hasn't stopped me from buying them.

I've purchased a few different kinds, but I'm limiting my selection to paca chunks, rage tails, and ***'s beavers. I'll keep those three in my bag and slowly get rid of the rest.
  25. But can't you achieve the exact same size chunk by just cutting part of the body of the craw down? I went out and bought a few more packs. I picked up a pack of chunks and will be comparing the two. 4.19 at Sportsman's Warehouse in Memphis is too good of a price to pass up. These things are over $5 a pack at home.
