What might help us help you is to know what you have now. What kind of fishing you do, either bank or boat or both. The lakes/ponds you are fishing. What part of the country you are in. And your budget for this year for fishing gear. There are extremely knowledgeable people here that are willing to be very specific with help as far as type of rod and reel, line, and terminal tackle recommendations. If you ask about specific brands you are going to get 100 different answers but the principles and purpose of the setups are the same regardless of brand. I use a 7-6 mh with 50 lb braid for frogs. All other top water I use a 7-0 med with 12lb mono. It's tough to do both well with the same rod.

I have owned a fleet (at least 5 at a time) of trucks since 1997 and will say that Ford trucks are by far the most durable overall. Most of mine being deisel 250's or larger. There have been some problems with diesel engines and there are aftermarket fixes for those but the interiors and suspensions are far superior.

2007 Triton 20X2 with a 250 Optimax. I fish tournaments on big water and consume probably 20 gal per hour, but I don't run WOT much. The boat tops out WOT around 78 mph (GPS) but I cruise at 60 mph at 3/4 throttle which is fast enough most of the time. FYI I only put 60-70 hours a year on the big motor. I probably put 250 hours on the TM.
