  1. Roland said it was necessary, so you guys that say no must be crazy :
  2. eyedabassman, I have been doing the same thing LOL. I Don't have a hundred rods at my disposal and the EWG makes it so much easier to switch between a wide variety of baits. Example,on my senko rod I can go from a trickworm, senko, fluke, ribbit frog, worm, creature, beaver, with all the same 3/0 hook. To make matters worse I have been getting into using the Gamakatsu g-lock hooks and neglecting my regular EWG now ;D
  3. The worst thing about using a toothpick or a rubber strip is that it causes the weight to be off-center from the bait. I have yet to have a bass tell me that they can't eat it because it is one degree off center ;D
  4. So garlic must have a lot of amino acids in it then.Is that why garlic smells like garlic. :
  5. Yeah what he said.I tried to say it also but was much more elaborate in my description ;D
  6. This is a very broad question that has been answered in numerous ways and times. That said there is really no wron way to rig it.The fish eat it! Check out the sticky thread section at the top of the page for the senko FAQ's
  7. Mend it does work incredibly. It melts the plastic from the inside and remolds it. Apply a little extra to the outside for good measure.Takes seconds to harden and about 5-7 mins to cure completely. You have to use caution when applying it.The first time you use it it will make a small rip in the plastic 10 times larger and you will go HUH??!!! No worries though it will heal.I also like it for frog baits which come 3-5 a pack. After use you can stick a hook right through the "wounded"area even if you can still see the cosmetic damage. What I do is take a plastic such as a typical senko, fish it,when it rips up after the first bite(or snag) take it off and put a new one on.Then go back and apply the mend-it to the first one and let it sit on the deck or bench until your ready for it.I try to do it before the bait is badly torn, then it is harder to repair, but still can be repaired nonetheless. You can alternate between two baits all day.Of course if the action is hot and heavy you will probably want to just save the used baits in a seperate bag and go back and do them later after fishing.Who wants to take time out when the fish are hammering left and right? There is a nice (but boring) video here and it available at *** for cheaper. http://www.menditglue.com/
  8. I'll have to check that out.I know that the regular string and rubber bobber stops don't work worth a dam on braid, especially small diameter.
  9. If you got money to frivoulsly spend on things or sponsors paying for it, then ya, the TT stops are okay. Don't believe all the myths about toothpicks. They work just fine.
  10. x2 8-) The color should be least important. The weight of the bait in accordance to the blade(s) sizes is the most important. If the bite is tough you can still stumble upon the right combination and get hits on a spinnerbait.I don't really believe there is any day that they won't bite a spinnerbait. It's just what kind of spinnerbait? Some days they'll eat it reagrdless. That said,I am the same way with some of my topwaters
  11. Not to mention if your line is too tight the bass is likely to feel you,at least that is what I believe. If you don't work the bait with a little slack in the line in the first place it doesn't give it freedom to move correctly when you twitch it and if you don't work it with you rod tip up you have more trouble feeling subtle bites or discerning between snags and feeling bottom. Watch any or all the pros on tv too and they do it they same way, drop, reel, set, except it is so lightning quick that their rod almost cracks thunder. I guess what ever works for that show host though : The only difference I can see is if fishing a heavy jig or pitching/flipping in close quarters with say a 1/2 oz or more. Then you gotta keep the line somewhat tight and stick them the very microsecond you feel them.
  12. I agree 100% Avid. I already have several fish over 5lbs this year on topwaters, you guessed it chug bug and super spook jr,also several on the regular size torpedo. The spro pop frog has served me very well in the short time I have had it too. IT IS that time of year around here.I too am not sure if the particular weather paterns we have had lately is making it better or that I too am just gaining all that extra confidence.I am even throwing them during mid day heat, which normally is unlike me,and having success.Yep I too would rather catch one, especially if it is over 3 lbs,on a topwater than ten on worms. Everyone likes the audio and visual of of good topwater smack or when they just leave a swirl and your plug just dissapears into a black hole. The most satisfying part of the experience to me however is knowing that I chose that particular lure and used whatever method or rythym to pizz that fish off and make it strike.I love to get that rythym going and just knowing that I am irritating the hell out of one to make it hit.Topwaters don't catch fish by themselves. It is entirely up to the angler.Where you throw it and how you work it.It is a lesson in patience, and I am not known to be the most patient person. Hope you feel better soon man. It's a bummer. At least you're still puttin' the steel to a few of them though
  13. John check out parasite clips for that purpose, they keep the bait locked onto the top of the hookshank and can save money since the fish don't tear them up as easy either.I've used the skipgap and I don't really care for it.Just give me plain old EWG. It didn't make a noticable difference for me in holding a senko or kut tail after they get soggy. Get some mend-it soft bait repair. Its the best thing since the plastic worm.Pays for itself very quickly when using expensive senkos, swimbaits and any other larger plastics that come in low counts per bag. Just throwin a few things in the air that work for me
  14. It is not hard to order 50.00 worth of stuff, the free shipping is awesome. They obviously value their customers. Overall the thing that impresses me the most is that the out of stock/backordered items are also shipped at a later date free of charge as soon as they are in.The company then pays 2 or even 3 extra charges to send you additional packages.Awesome! BPS and their price/shipping scale has to go! What happens if I order 2 ricos or say 2 or 3 other expensive lures that come up to 100.00 or so.Then they want to charge 12 or 13 bucks to ship a box that weighs 3 or 4 ounces?!?! Not to mention it will take a week and a half if you don't get the shipping upgrade, which in turn is also a rip off,I used to work in shipping.I know wjat it costs to ship packages 2 day or express. You got a backordered item and they want to charge your card for even more shipping. At that point it is your choice whether you still actually want the item or not. Said it before and will say it again.I HATE BASS PRO.They are just a giant convienience store controlling and raping the market. If people would actually refuse to shop there they may learn to value their customers. They are so big that they could care less about losing a few people here and there. Then they spend millions on advertising and their spokespeople.Place one tiny order and you get bombarded with emails and worthless catalogs.Who do you think is paying for all that?? I'm done now ;D
  15. That bait is too huge to catch a bass with : : : (most people won't understand that comment, some will)
  16. One other thing I would add is that if you take a used one and put it back in the bag, box, whatever,to make sure it is dry.Rub it on your pants,or set it in the sun on the boat deck for a min. The moist bait will cause the other ones to get soggy. If you ever see water vapor droplets in your bag or box use a paper towell to dry it up and lightly wipe the baits. If they get a little soggy it really cuts down on the durability of the bait and it rips easier. I live in really humid conditions so this is a constant problem. It also never hurts to save some of those silica gel packets like the one you get with shoes and such and drop them in your tackle box compartments.
  17. Wow too many to name its a close call.Probably a 3/8 oz d willow stanley spinnerbait in a tenn. shad pattern. Most larger bass since I have been in Florida would be a 7.5 inch Yum worm in junebug,or is it a trickworm in junebug,or a senko......
  18. Not to hijack the thread, but just yesterday I spooked one about 2 lbs and it jumped out of the water and onto the bank where it got itself lodged between some roots and a rock.Naturally I had to rescue it and it turned out to be the only fish I "caught" all day. I was just amazed at the site of the phenomenon ;D
  19. Wrist only! Don't move your elbow at all.Semi slack line.A light but sharp twitch downward or down to the side a little. It is almost like just relaxing your fingers on your rod and then squeezing them back together. It really takes no effort after you figure out how to do it.Use a lighter rod with a med fast or fast tip 6.5 to 7 ft. Don't use fluoro line! If you can make a small popper spit and walk correctly then this is the exact same technique. This bait is also next to impossible to use in the wind or with chop on the water.Use it when it is dead calm. I have found much more success with this bait by just twitching it lightly 3-4 times then pausing.I call it the "silent assassin" A constant walk is not really necessary. And yes it catches toads too.
  20. Nice 1! Must have been chasing a squirrell?
  21. I like the 6 inch twitch the best.It is a version of the slug-go but better. I posted this because I don't know if anybody noticed the prices.4.99 for a 70 ct bag of bush hog baits I may order some just on principle.Even If I don't like them how can you go wrong with that price?
  22. http://www.bassassassin.com/c/-Special-BULK-Discounts-Inventory-Reduction-SALE%21/bass-fishing-lures/bulkitems/ I am really liking the 70 ct bag of brush hog type baits Can't say what colors will be available still. The site says to call the phone number for more details. Just figured I'd let you guys know
  23. Thanks for the reply and yes that is where I store the battery,in the rear end.I never noticed paint peeling before. I am not worried about the paint itself, the boat is a 30 yr old P.O.S. I am mostly concerned with the metal being eaten away and wondering if there was any special way to clean it such as baking soda etc.. Another question: Anyone know anything about fixing the battery? Is it possible? There is a small crack on the bottom and 1 of the cells has leaked dry. Don't have 100.00 to buy a new one :-[
  24. I just recently discovered that there is a hole in the bottom of my battery(who knows how), and it has come to my attention that the leaking acid will eat the aluminum in my jon. I noticed this morning that the grey paint all over the rear well is starting to peal away. Is there anything special I should use to treat this area with and/or scrub it to cut the acid? Do I just rinse it with plenty of water and soap and hope for the best? Suggestions welcome. Thanks, Justin
  25. I was actually just about to post a question asking people whether this was a good thing or not.I catch the hell out of fish either way with walkers but was trying to find out if it was worth investing in some feathers to put on my spooks.
