  1. Bass inhale their pray and that worm just collapses and folds right up.A really small fish per worm size may have to flare it's gills twice to get the whole thing in.I could nose hook a 10 inch worm and still hook plenty of fish. They don't nibble like blugills. Take that same "giant" worm and fold it up in your hand.It looks the same size or smaller than most of the other baits we use.The bass see the same thing too.It represents something slender and slithery that can be easily inhaled, crushed up,and swallowed.Thats why you can catch 8 inch bass on a 10 inch worm. I have been trying to get one of my partners to understand that concept. He thinks the hook needs to be grossly oversized and shanked way down into the tail of the worm. : So when do I like to throw a big worm? Basically anytime.I am curious to see what will actually latch on to it and I get a kick out of some of the little scrappers that will try to cram down thier gullet.Best times however are late spring and through summer, dirty water and at night.
  2. Irregardless of the fake video Dominoes just plain sucks @zz anyways.Same as pizza hut ever since they changed thier pizza.Made by cheap penny pinching corporates and not the same as it was when I was younger.
  3. Yes and no. Hate to say it,again, but the fish have to tell you what they want.I have caught some of my largest fish on lures such as the tiny torpedo, mini chug bug,ex-cal zel pop,1/8 buzzbaits, rapala #7. Have also caught some very small fish on beefy baits like the super spook, sammy 128,zara spook, full size rebel pop-r,saltwater chug bug. If the fish are on a good topwater bite or schooling then naturally the dinks are going to swipe at the lure first. They are faster and more aggressive.I am amazed at the fish I catch 1lb and under on the reagular zara spook. Some times they just don't want that bigger plug at all regardless of the size of the fish.Sometimes the little baits really turn them on. If I nail a big one it is usually in some type of an isolated "perfect spot" which just happens to be that pigs personal territory and it doesn't matter what size plug it is then. You have invaded its spot and it looks like an easy meal. As a few general rules though I usually go smaller and quieter in calm shallow water. The choppier the water the larger and or louder I want the bait.Same with dirty water too.I go larger or louder. If I am fishing somewhere that I know for sure holds some big fish and big forage then yes I go for broke and throw the biggest baits I've got.
  4. Thats a beautiful girl! Can I have her number?
  5. Then I guess I am doing it wrong because I have many times where they get so keyed in to the bait they are after that it seems nothing will work at least until you try several things. I have witness a few time where a couple boats would be surrounding the active area throwing the kitchen sink out there and getting nothing until someone stumbles upon that magic bait.Topwater usually works but at times you need to hit a certain depth or toss something that will sink down through mess of bait. You can call my BS now since bass are just way too easy to catch and no challenge : I like spooks the best, also small spinnerbaits burned, and flukes. I am looking forward to trying small swimbaits such as the money minnow and tru-tungsten 4 inch this year as well
  6. 12 bass of 09............. *****comments about the flannel I was wearing on that chilly 60 degree december day have already been made 8-)
  7. Green pumkin is a great middle of the road bait.It works in some pretty stained water and also clear water due to matching it's surroundings. I really like pumkinseed too. If the water is really really clear then smoke and any translucent variation therof works great. Watermelons are a natural choice as well and I really prefer to use them around vegetation.I like the red flake versions when the water has a little bit of green tint to it.
  8. He stuffs his fish before he photos them ;D Seriously though I love fish shaped like that. They don't have to be mega lunkers. They also ususally put up an outstanding fight when they are that fit.
  9. I too have found it to be kinda messy adding it that way in the bag.It gets nasty in the summer heat.I also like to wait to apply just before use since I also put a generous amount on my sinker, hook and first foot or so of line.
  10. Spro poppin frog. WORD. 8-)
  11. x2 and don't ever swim a jig around pads or shallow submerged brush with a frog as a trailer either
  12. Works great with any soft stick type bait, whatever it may be.Not only does it fall backwards but it also tends to spiral down on the fall.
  13. The mad paca is a spectacular bait for texas rigging and pitching.if your a fan of brush hogs you will love these. It has more action and moves more water. I am out of them now and went through a whole bag of the 4 inch and 6 inch bama bug in 2 days of fishing.
  14. Just for the record my senko is better than your senko :
  15. Bronzeye popping frog.Killer lure! For soft plastics I like Kut Tail worms,Senkos with a nail in the rear, trickworms with or without a nail, zoom super fluke. Also like buzzing toads like the Ribbit or Sizmic, they skip incredibly. The toads don't always work but during certain times you can get some wicked reaction strikes when that thing comes skittering into the bass territory then quickly buzzes away.Better to actually get it all the way to the bank then pull it into the water!
  16. Tell me about it, if you order a $200 reel its $15 for shipping, but it can be shipped for $5. Looks like a scam to me. Ill stick with TW for big items and only buy bps if I am in store or I have a gift card. How about ordereing 3-5 expensive lures and paying 13.00 to have a 4 oz package shipped USPS. You can also get the 2 day shipping upgrade though, but they won't even use vaselline on you for that.
  17. swim senkos, rage craws, rage annacondas, gambler flapper woms are all good with them.
  18. I ain't touching this with a ten foot pole :-X Bizz must be just jumping to conclusions based soley on nothing right? :
  19. The pictures don't tell too much :-[ No worries though I suck at taking pictures myself ;D From the looks of that gel coat/glitter finish it looks like a norman crank, maybe a deep little-n. How long was the bill? Length of the body?
  20. March, and April is a close second.Sound familiar? ;D The big girls are on!!
  21. Not saying it doesn't work.Megastrike is incredible. The "new" formula works just fine, but give me the old stuff. I just hate garlic. It offers no benefits whatsoever to fishing and is better on bread, spaghett, and tacos.
  22. Spinnerbait paralelled would be my first choice. Have you tried jerkbaits yet? Also running a buzzbait down the shore could prove to be interesting. If you need to slow it down I would look into using jigs such as a football head with a hula grub or craw or even a shakey head. You may lose a few though but it can be killer around the rocks. If you see bait dimpling the surface or any swirls whatsoever I would not hesitate to make a long cast down the bank with a zara spook.
  23. Prop baits, that is. I catch plenty of big fish on them, especially the Devils Horse and Torpedo. So don't get me wrong.I feel I do know how to work them rather well.I use a sharp twitching or ripping retrieve with varying degrees of intensity and or sometimes pauses.Basically the exact same as using a popper, except maybe faster. Now the question: Has anyone ever caught a fish by just winding these things in steady? To me it is not a buzzbait and it shows very little life or action whatsoever.I have never had a strike in my life by using a prop bait in that manner or seen anyone else either. Now the reasons I ask: I recall reading articles several times over the years in mags and books saying things such as "Propbaits are the most simple". "You just simply wind them in". For example namely Bassmaster magazine and Homer Circles book Bass Wisdom come to mind first. I also recently had a discussion with a partner about it and he says that that is how he used to work them but I have yet to see any results whatsoever with that method. It almost makes me laugh to watch. So what's your take? I know that when using certain baits that anything goes and anything could potentially catch a fish, but is it the best way? I am just trying to see if my views of something are broad or narrow.
  24. I like to catch on multiple different baits and or techniques. Once I have figured out what kind of bite they are on,where they are at,and how aggressive, I will then even switch to something else on purpose after catching a few just to see what else I can fool em with.Sometimes I will just keep changing my method or retrieve. It is still like changing baits in a way.I am always looking into tweeking the presentation and getting dialed in as much as possible.I know it makes no sense to some, and I also don't fish tournaments either. In my thinking I am looking for what it will take to get the bigger one to bite.If I am working a spot and hammering a wolfpack i want to try to trigger that 3lb+ into biting.Of course If the bite is real slow and I catch a small few on one thing I will stick too one thing faithfully. Constanly changing can work either way in fishing, just like everything.Sometimes it is the best thing to,sometimes not.Only the fish know for sure.
