  1. I don't know the weights but I like the baby size one. Never had much success on the larger ones. My best retrieve for this particular bait is very fast sharp twitches.
  2. I would love to see your entire crankbait arsenal Stringjam! Not enough bandwidth on this site eh? ;D
  3. Anybody remember the Burke talkin frog. Took batteries and made a croaking sound when added to water. It was pretty goofy and needless to say I never caught anything on it ;D
  4. If fishing heavy grass you can cut off the two "arms" on the side and it will slide through like a bullet 8-) That being said brush hawgs are one of my favs, but I am really loving the new netbait mad paca.
  5. Dead serious.I hate them and it just feels like I am dragging a chunk of pond scum around. It's a confidence thing :-/
  6. Hands down best bang for the buck and I also like the 4000 size too.
  7. I'll go with the sexy shad too. My other favorites would be splatterback with an orange belly and rapalas pearl grey back. It's hard to go wrong with whites in water like that. If it is cloudy my very favorite is parrot-chart/blue back.
  8. x2 have done the same.Put 2 coats of clear coat on after. As stated however they are no match for rocks.
  9. Lures that don't work: JIGS > I can see the trash flying already and am ducking for cover ;D Not my thing... On a more serious note one exapmle comes to mind first for me is a devils horse. I hate it with the front prop on it.Not only does it tangle my line but I have never caught a fish with it that way. I take the front prop off and tweak the rear in my own special way. Reminds me also of a recent post about floating rattle traps. No fixing that one. They just suck.
  10. I hear ya FD. The big girls are spawning and feeding. I have 10 so far already going over 5 lbs bed fishing only.Problem is like you said though, establishing a pattern for shallow cranking and spinnerbaits and such. They keep pulling out to the drop offs and deeper flats. Not happening. All the bedding fish I been getting are in small bodies of water. The bigger bodies I fish I haven't seen nothing but tilapia beds. Good luck! The bite is weird this time of year and it's feast or famine.
  11. Thats when I use parrot.chart/blue back 8-)
  12. Bending the eyes?? Didn't catch that on the box.I threw it away. Either way you just want to barely bend the pin just like tuning a crank bait. The slight bow should make it tighter.
  13. Word of advice on the pin that holds it together: Push it in all the way and use something to pop it back out from the top.The hole goes all the way through. If it seems a little loose, like the one on the bait I bought, then take it out and use pliers or something to bend the pin very slightly. This will make it fit more snugly. I haven't caught anything on it yet as to reply on how durable it really is.I am not impressed with the overall tiny size of it either, but it swims really really well and looks great. I can see it working in the right situations or the right waters. I got one in shad color and I think I'll bust it out during the shad spawn around here.Should be gnarly. 8-)
  14. Definatley mullet! Word of advice: If you see pods of them scattering and jumping it is time to chuck the super spook.
  15. Hello welcome to the forums. I am from Barberton, originally. Sure the Portage Lakes have some decent fish, especially Long Lake but are extremely pressured and a bit overrated.Did you know that the best kept secret in the entire area is the Ohio Canal? In particular any part of the stretch between BF Goodrich on Wilbeth Rd. Carnegie Blvd. near the old closed down Youngs resturant on Manchester Rd and Nesmith Lake all contain some giant fish. Most people do not mess with the canal due to the heavy weeds and general swamp like conditions. Weightless worms, buzzing frogs, and spinnerbaits in the cleaner areas around pads are king. During the very close and upcoming spawn walk the towpath with flipping stick in hand and look for bedders. i have caught countless 5-6 lb fish in spring especially in the section from Manchester Rd. east through Kenmore and down into Barberton. It is a slop fishing paradise!
  16. x2, plain and simple
  17. It imitates a bad day of fishing if I throw it. I absolutely detest that color >
  18. Sure will. I can use this method in ponds that have a lot of coontail moss growing on the bottom.it is basically like a carpet covering the bottom. Besides leader length you will have to pay attention to how far you cast out as this will stretch the leader out horizontally and bury the bait in the crap also. Have you experimented with weightless plastics? trickworms, flukes, senko, kut tail worm, all good. A carolina or mojo rig with a slender cylinder barrel style weight and a floating tube, trickworm, finesse worm, fluke on a long leader up to 3 feet can also be effective.
  19. Agreed. I do the same thing. Inflatable tires are the way to go.I use a ratchet tie down to strap the boat down and load all my stuff, battery included. If I don't want to cart the dolly around with me all day then I just take and stash it at some unreachable location on the lake such as an island.
  20. Mustad. If an eagle actually had claws like those it would starve.
  21. My number 1 baits for small ponds if I just want to know if there are fish in there 1/8 buzz bait 1/8-1/4 spinner bait in shad color zara puppy 4 inch senko 1/4 oz jig tiny torpedo 1/4 rattle trap ribbit frog if walking the shore and weeds are very thick shakey head with finesse worm
  22. x2 I use them on soft plastics that tear easily and it extends their life significantly. x3 8-)
  23. Dec 2006 Rapala glass fat rap yellow/purple back. Open water 8 ft down in 13 feet. 12 lbs 8 oz No photo :'( : <<------ approx 10.5, second pb, caught Dec. 2007 on dt flat07 yellow/purple back. I guess I am a big fan of the Rapala purple back color.
  24. Yep,and my biggest b**ch is that the stuff that is worth a darn never gets restocked.Nothing worse than walking into a section with holes everywhere. All the good colors or sizes gone."Can anybody tell me if you guys will be getting more?" Hell no :
  25. x2 When T-riggin I also rig it backwards after the front rips. The fish eat it either way. 8-)
