  1. I do keep it off the floor so I'm on the right track. I have a trickle charger, I just wanted to make sure that keeping it on the charger ALL WINTER isn't gonna hurt the battery or my electric bill!! ajr
  2. Hey all and Happy Holidays!! What is the best way to store trolling motor batteries in the off season? I have them in the basement, that much I know. I also charged them after the last time I went out. bassnajr
  3. All I can tell you is fish SLOW. That's what I learned from the guys here in the Fall-Winter. Although I did catch quite a few on Rattl-Traps!! Good luck!! bassnajr
  4. The only advice I can give you is fish SLOW. T
  5. OK I called up to BPS (12-29-2007)..... At first I couldn't get anyone to talk too (be positive, think positive...that's what my wife says) OK I'm back.No new deliveries after X-Mas. I asked about G-loomis rods because I saw a few guys mention them, they have 8 different models or more (or so they say)! ajr
  6. Ill have to check with the boss but I'm interested. Any time mentioned yet?? ajr
  7. Hey.. As soon as possible!! I fished right up until the first snow in RI. Most water is iced over here. The weather hasn't been super cold, (temps. up and down) but I don't ice fish. There's just enought ice so the "regular" fishermen can't get at 'em but not enough thick ice so those "crazy" ice fisherman) can get out on the ponds near me. If I had the money, I would take a Southern road trip!!!!! I am going stir crazy!!! bassnajr
  8. Hey all... I am primarily a spinning reel guy. I have read some of the articles on fishing line on this site, and I get more confused the more I read (braid, mono, flouro etc.). I would like some opinions on what lines are best for use with spinning gear, and further are there any lines you guys prefer for different applications/presentations. (woms, cranks, spin baits etc.) Thanks, Alan
  9. Hey, Not familiar with Hickory Store?? Is that down south, midwest?? ajr
  10. Hey.. Little hint about Dick's... Any item that ends in .97 ($2.97 etc.) is clearence. No one tells you that. ajr
  11. muddy, In Rhode Island we call them FLOOGAS!!!! :)
  12. Check out this reel: www.http://cgi.ebay.com/WaveCast-Spinning-Reel-by-Doug-Hannon-Brand-New_W0QQitemZ170180221958QQihZ007QQcategoryZ36147QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Alan
  13. Hey all... Hope everyone had a great Christmas.. I am thinking about adding a new spinning reel to the group. I've been looking at the Pflueger President Series specifically the model 6740. Any one have any experience with these reels? Any other recommendations? Thanks in advance, ajr
  14. tin, As I said above, it is not a TOTAL victory. Don't get me wrong, I won't be sending B.A.S.S. a fruit basket or anything!! And I don't think they changed anything because of the kids, far from it. Any change was because of potential lost $$$$. As you know, I have just begun my tournament fishing pending my (hopefully soon) retirement. I would hate to work my way up and have any kind of association dump on me or change the rules in the middle of things. What stinks is people (and businesses) change rules in the middle all the time. I'll tell you a good one involving me when I see you. IMO, you have to take the victories, as tiny as they are, when they come. A healthy protest doesn't hurt either!!! ajr
  15. I'm right with ya!!!
  16. Dude... It was David vs. Goliath....and Goliath blinked!!! I didn't say it was a TOTAL victory and there is still the matter of making the families monetarily whole. People spoke..and they listened!!! Do you realize how big that is?? That's why I say sometimes the smallest victories are actually the biggest. Merry XMAS Alan
  17. Merry X-Mas all.. Hope Santa was good to all and everyone got lots of new bass gear!! My wife actually went out ON HER OWN and bought me a Shakespeare Ugly Stick Model # SP 1101, MH 6'6" rod!!! I think I'll keep her!!!!! bassnajr
  18. We won't let them tin..... You experienced first hand what speaking your mind and sticking to your guns can do. Most people just saw "Oh, well..what can we do?" Remember..BASS DID change their mind because of the pressure. Maybe not a total victory, but take it from me. You take your victories where you can get them...and enjoy them!!! ajr
  19. I was just talking about the shows, but I really hit a nerve here. I have read the updates from BASS and there is no doubt that they felt the pressure from the "regular folks", and semi-changed their minds, which is good. The monies lost by families should be recouped, unfortunatly, through legal means and by NOTIFYING THE MEDIA!! I know that this has been spoken about in another thread at length so I won't go on here. Whenever money is involved things change. It's an unfortunate reality. Look at what ball players are paid. I can't take my kids to ANY games because of it. But they can't charge me to bass fish....or can they???? ajr
  20. Be safe and when things get tough, remember your family and bass fishing. The two things that help me get through tough times and always give you a warm feeling inside. By the way...THANKS, I know you guys don't hear that enough, but all of us appreciate what you and your buddies do for us. Stay low and come home safe!!! Alan bassnajr
  21. Just did Dave....damm Bait Monket...and right before X-Mas!!!!! What's the worst that can happen??....I pass them out to fishing buddies!!! I think they'll work. Alan
  22. I am amazed at this thread!!! I wish I had HALF the money the Bait Monkey made you guys spend. That evil, evil, monkey!!!!!! ;D Alan
  23. I picked up four of them 2- 1/2 oz. and 2- 3/4 oz. for $11.00 with shipping. Wonder if I should get more. It stinks cause I can't fish them right now, but they seem like a kind of lure that's right up my alley. Alan
  24. Hey.. I posted earlier about a "hybrid" spoon/lipless crank bait I picked up this past week. Other members have identified them as Rapala minnow spoons (or clones if you will). They are good looking lures. I can't wait to try one. Anyone ever throw these? Ideas on presentation?? Why did Rapala stop making them? Alan
  25. The guy I got them from did say they were no longer being made and he was making them himself. I guess kinda a Rapala clone. Anyone ever fish the Rapala minnow spoon?? I DO like the way they look!!!! Alan
