Matt, the two different (areas of the lake) green trees were in fact the same type of trees or Large Bush (Retama) and they are excellent fish holding types because of they green quickly and gain top top foliage earlier than a lot of TX plant materials. They also flower early and the insects like bees are very attracted to them. I think that the bigger fish know them as brim and other bait style fish attractors through out the year so the big girls know their postion well Big O www.ragetail.com

Excellent write up Matt... your attn to detail is terrific and I agree that the big ones choose the prime real estate most of the time. We've all worn our thumbs out slinging the small ones while wishing we were tugging on the big girls. Your info also makes me think that if we target bigger fish through bait choice and structure types, we have a better opportunity to catch bigger fish. Was on the water 2 wks ago when the cold fronts were moving through and temps were up and down from the teens to mid 60's. The fish didn't know whether to go shallow or deep so they stayed all mixed up and just swam in circles in the middle of the lake ;D Not really... thay actually moved just enough to maintain a constant temp below the surface and find food Matt (with Moaner Hooks) had a chance to come down and he caught his new PB flippin a Smokin Rooster... I was able to catch a Cold Lobster Fish that made me feel all warm inside too : If fishing's not FUN, there's no such thing as FUN Big O www.ragetail.com

Thanks Friends, it's ON here in the South and it should be a lot of fun for the next few months. I don't bed fish but instead fish the habitat where they're holding prior too. Hope to get a fish photo from a friend that we took during the super cold weather... It was a Big Lobster eatin' gal too Will post it up if and when. She wanted a Lobster Dinner... so I fed her a Rage Lobster, lol. I'm glad she liked it cause I sure liked her : Been on the water quite a bit recently and the weather has ranged from temps in the teens and 50mph winds, to warm and sunny the next day with calm conditions. I like'em both for similar reasons and I really like Pickwick for the many deep drop bluffs and a tremendous variety of different structure types in short distances or close together... This allows the fisherman to work a variety of different techniques, depths and bait types to determine the most productive bite set-ups. Heck, I love both lakes a lot but have only fished Kentucky Lake once ever, and Pickwick once in over 30 years. If I lived closer, I'd try to have a shack on both of'em Big O www.ragetail.com
