As Wayne mentioned, the material that most softies are produced from is a polysol plastic and they are commonly referred to as "soft plastics". And the other material he mentioned, "Elaztec" is a high floater product. The Rage Craws are produced from the first material but are popular for C rigging as well as other presentations. As you drag the C rig slowly along the bottom, Fish that are nearby feel the vibration of the weight as well as the bait, then move closer to investigate. When they investigate the disturbance, this is when they locate the bait crawling slowly by. Often, a fisherman will move the C rig the bait too quickly and the fish won't have time to locate it so most will say "Slow as you Go". if it's not running right, you need to fix the way it's hooked. I am sure you are right but I just can't figure it out. First lure that has ever stumped me. I tried to fish it weightless just under the surface this spring, but any movement at all made it spin. I want to use it c rigged but not until I can see it is running right. I have looked at the Rage Tail site and followed all of the directions, but no go. Yes. Specifically Section 2.4-1 yet I've had zippy success. Tried the Toad again Saturday night and people were missing fish on frogs left and right. "I'll prove myself wrong! I'll try my RageToad!" Nothing. Tied on my 8" swimbait and got 6 hits in a row in the same spot. Swimbait, please. Big- O- thanks for the words of inspiration. I may not count them out completely, but I will keep them in my bag for when I'm just catching too many fish and will try to gain confidence in something else. NewAngler, I am familiar with you and your circle of friends, as I have kept up with many of your posts regarding fishing trips etc. And I can tell that each of you love to fish as much as the rest of us...But I am also aware that you are familiar with several other folks in your area that fish Rage Tail products and they are catching loads of fish and setting new PB's on a regular basis...hopefully this thread topic was not targeted to create controversy due to that groups good fortunes....lifes too short to intentionally initiate strife, enough of that comes our way by accident. If I am wrong about the controversy factor and I hope that I am, as that seems rediculous and immature...we can focus on becoming the best angler we can be regardless of the baits we choose. All of the above are above average profile, move water, and make some noise during any movement. Some underestimate the effectiveness of C rigs at night...The weight dragging on the bottom and causing some commotion is a real key here. Geezer2, I fished nights for years and only used a small head light on my hat for re-tying etc. If that's what you're looking for, the smaller the better and I use the more LED's now. Have bought the cheap ones and wished I didn't cause they don't last at all for me. Here's a photo of it, got it at a hunting show. It has lasted well and thru three sets of the small flat lithium batteries. Don't know the brand but if you find out where to gett'em, pls let me know Big O www.ragetail.com

Public Waters Shimmy, but I try you avoid the public when I fish ;D When I was young, my Dad told me to fish the most where others fish the least and find the fish that others haven't found. When you do, it's like fishing your own private lake but you gotta protect your spots and not give'em away by letting others see you on'em. Big O www.ragetail.com

Paul only told part of the story, possibly to keep from sounding too pointed and brash....He's kinda modest you see : The complete lesson goes like this. A Father was teaching his young son the art of fishing and said "A real fisherman can catch fish on a boot lace and there are others that can't catch'em in a seine net....but only because they won't take the time nor put forth the effort to get their feet wet".
