Here's a link on rigging info for all of the Rage Tail baits....the Space Monkey can be fished from top to bottom effectively depending on the need. It is not actually designed as a top water but in finesse situations it will work fine and definitely don't throw it out if one of the front legs gets torn off. Fine Info Catt and most successful fishermen will always hold close to the saying "Find the Fish-Catch the Fish".......with this in mind we can all relate to being in the fish and on an active bite then the fish slow or quit on that bait or presentation. We change it up in that same location and start catching the fish again.....That's the reason we have so many rods rigged with the vast variety of offerings we feel will translate in bites. 5/0 EWG Gamakatsu rigged as shown will run right side up 90% of the time and if it lands on its back on cast just pause on the retrieve and it will right itself. Make sure to center the hook and avoid bowing the back up when skin hooking is the key to making them run properly I like the Owner 6/0 Twistlock but a bit more expensive of course. I will use keel weighted hooks on Toads and Shad if the waves are bad as this helps all soft plastic to ride the waves and not skip out Big O www.ragetail.com

Hey BRFamily, Thought it might be necessary to provide you with this info prior to you getting the baits in your hands because these detailed instructions are as important and necessary as ever before, with any Rage Tail Design. If the Eeliminator is hooked right, it cant be fished wrong . This illustration information is extremely detailed for that purpose and the hook type and size is extremely important as well. This bait can do it all extremely well if rigged properly in each application: Weightless, Tx and C rigged, Flipped or pitched and Swimbait. Hooking in the center on the nose and body as well as maintaining the original shape and design of the bait when hooked is imperative and not bowing the back back of the bait up when skin hooked 1) Standard 4/0 EWG Gamakatsu Superline hook as well as other EWG's that are of the same approximate size and weight. It is very important not to over hook this bait or use too long of a hook because it will alter the action of the bait by disturbing the tail connection at body. Stretching the body from original length or shape will impede or damage action results as well. Different hook brands are slightly different in sizes so they should be ckd thoroughly. 2) Owner 5/0 twistlock is excellent also and gives best longevity to bait as well as centering pin in screw lock to make sure that it is exactly centered in nose...Very Important. Make sure that the back of bait is not bowed up when light skin hook. Other screwlock hooks can be used but can't be too long and must be exactly centered in nose and body of bait for proper action results. 3) I don't use keel weighted hooks because they kill the side to side action. 4) My favorite use is Carolina rig from extremely light weight like 1/8 pegged upline 10", to standard C rig with heavier weights for deeper or windy conditions. 5) Weightless extremely slow or quick retrieve. 6) Tx rigged with light unpegged weight 1/4 or less for best action results. 7) If the weight is pegged, it should never be pegged directly to the front of the bait as it will cause the bait to roll over if the weight is pointed off center even slightly. 8) For flipping, I use a Bobber Stopper style Sinker Stop approximately 3/8 inch ahead of a Max 1/4 oz slip weight so that he weight is free and doesn't drive or try to guide the baits swimming action. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44440_100010004_100000000_100010000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT 9) For Swimbait style application, use 1/16 or 1/8 slip weight on line, unpegged for slow swimming at desired depths. Jigs for me....if I'm fishing for fish that might be attracted to a senko style offering, I am using using a keel weighted hook on high action soft plastic that gives it a slow horizontal fall which is often more attractive to the fish and allows this presentation to catch as many or more, and often bigger fish. IMO, it is the fall rate, subtle action and size of the offering that gets their attention. When you add any variety of creature style baits available, I feel it improves the attraction qualities. Keel weighted softies are just now becoming more understood and being utilized to their greatest benefits as they can provide much more variety to the "Slow fall Game" You can also use superlight jigs with a larger high action trailer and slow the fall rate considerably which gives you additional versitility when the fish want something falling thru the water column slowwww. Many of us see the jig as a bottom bumper or dragger but it is much more versitile than that Big O www.ragetail.com

I think you will find that the hook up's on the Rage Shad will increase when the hook size increases. I use a 4/0 EGW superline as a standard and a 5/0 screw lock or twist lock hook as they are shorter "eye to hook point". On the Toad I recommend 5/0 EWG superline and 6/0 screw lock or twist lock hooks. These hooks are also the exact ones that the baits were designed around. All Academy's I've seen, stock the RT's but don't know for sure if they all have them Glad you're havin' fun with'em Big O www.ragetail.com

Hello Matt, This question seems a little hard to answer because there are so many variables to consider. Size of the worm 7" or 10", size and type if hook used, type of line used, where the fish is hooked, how aggressive the fish and the angler are during the fight, if the fish thrashes alot on the surface, if the fish is hooked in open water, brush, grass etc. Since I have used them extensively and in all of these situations, I realize that the conditions and variables involved will more determine their longevity or the amount of damage received. It seems as with any soft plastic, that most damage occurs when the line is braid, the fish is retrieved or fought extremely aggressively and excessive surface thrashing is involved. With this said I feel fortunate to trade one for one, although I have probably caught up to 6 fish per in ideal conditions Big O www.ragetail.com
