  2. LBH, I guess I was one of the MIA-thought I sent you a link-guess you needed the actual pic. Ah well, no biggie. Great site, Glenn-thanks!
  3. Bark bass-related to squirrel fishing ;D Tree fish-same thing ;D
  4. Rodeo ride-trying to keep your balance when some moron in a ski boat throws a big wake when you have the TM down and lines in the water
  5. Glad you came through OK, Grumpy. The Boat Monkey is the Bait Monkey's bigger cousin. He got a hold of me a couple of years ago-I know the feeling!
  6. Only one way to find out-give it a try!
  7. Al, I keep my soft plastics in a BPS-type binder, but I do not use the ring system that comes with it. I can fit more in the binder not using the rings ;D. For cranks, I use 3600s. A bunch of them ;D.
  8. Welcome to the forum! Take a look here: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/dropshot_fish.html
  9. Not near enough! I try to get out once a week but often end up going every other week.
  10. Basser, I use 50 lb PowerPro. The PowerPro is rounder than a lot of braids so dies not dig in as much, and I like 50 lb because it has the same diameter as 12 lb mono which is what I use on the rods I have spooled with mono. Not really, Kana. I find the weight of the bait is what gets you distance and the length of the rod effects the pitch more than the flex of the rod. The longer the rod, the easier it is to get distance.
  11. I just recently started using them on a regular basis. I catch more smallmouth than largemouth, but they do work.
  12. I use just an offset shank worm hook more than an EWG, but the size ranges from 2/0-4/0 depending on the size of the bait. I use the EWG hooks for baits that are real thick like a Brush Hog.
  13. Sounds like you have it down. I agree the longer rod will help with your distance-I use a 7-6 flipping stick. I also use braid. Like Chris said, you can get more distance with mono, but for horsing a big fish out of heavy cover you can't beat braid.

    Ditto!
  15. Take a look here: http://mapserver.maptech.com/homepage/index.cfm?CFID=1791743&CFTOKEN=24615757 You can find just about anyplace you are looking for.
  16. They will probably be more active-they will sense the drop in water temp, the weather wil have stabilized, and they start feeding heavily for the winter. Grab yourself a spinnerbait and head up into the backs of the creeks. Fall can be some of the best action of the year.
  17. I think it is called a "Bubba Shot" rig or something like that.
  18. It does get your fever up, doesn't it?
  19. Or real tight to cover. I'd say wait a day or so. that same front is supposed to come through here tomorrow morning-finally-it is 101 degrees right now-so I'm going to wait until Saturday for the weather to stabilize.
  20. Welcome to the forum! You will find a lot of great folks and good info here. One of the pictures looked like a big smallmouth. Here is a great site for someone just getting started-lots of good info in addition to the "basics": http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/beginner.html
  21. That's how I learned about it ;D.
  22. Just let it sit. You will be surprised how many you catch when it is just sitting there.
  23. Works for me!
  24. Howdy and welcome to the forum! Stick around-We'd enjoy learning how y'all fish Down Under. Jump right in and make yourself at home.
  25. I think it is the water clarity. Bass I catch in clear water are that beautiful green color, butbass I catch in muddy water are typically very pale. the reason IMO is the bass blend into their surroundings.
