  1. Welcome to the forum! Like LBH said, that's all they wanted! That's the wonderful world of bass fishing, and why so many of us have tons of tackle-we need it to figure out what they are biting on. Sounds like you had a great day and have found a real treasure-a private honey hole. You'll find there will be days when they hit everything you throw and days when you couldn't buy a strike. Guess that's why they call it fishing instead of catching ;D
  2. Welcome to the forum! Looks like the water is muddy and not a lot of structure, so... I would cast parallel to the bank using a bait that will either put out a lot of vibration/noise or move a lot of water. I'd start with three baits: A lipless crankbait like a Rat-L-Trap, a spinnerbait with a big, single Colorado blade, and a soft stickbait like a Tiki Stick or Yum Dinger. Work them parallel to the bank since that is probably what they are relating to.
  3. I've got several reels spooled up with it and so far I really like it. I'll need to use for a while yet but so far I've been happy with the results.
  4. Try the Palomar. Never had one fail, but have had the Trilene knot fail. Not very often, though. I still use it.
  5. I thought we were heading for the end of the world due to global warming?
  6. 25. I'm terminal(can you say tackle ), obsessive, compulsive-especially in places they sell tackle-and could not he happier about it!
  7. Shallow-Bandit 100 Series Medium-Rapala DT-6 Series, Bandit 200 and 300 Series Deep-Rapala DT-16, Norman Deep Little N, Fat Free shad, DD22
  8. Dang, Dan-you are tearing them up! Nice fish!
  9. Hard baits in 3600s, soft plastics in soft tackle bags, and the tackle box is 17-6 Nitro with a 115 Merc
  10. Thanks, fellas. Appreciate the input!
  11. I've caught a bunch of bass on them. Best colors are smokin' shad, baby bass, watermelon pro blue and watermelon red, but like Marty and LBH said, color isn't that big of a factor.
  12. Spinnerbait, crankbait, and jig in no particlar order.
  13. Guys, I'm looking for a new crankbait line. I've used Trilene XL for years and it just doesn't hold up to heavy duty cranking. Recommendations? Thanks!
  14. Shoot, yeah. Fortunately they are getting less and less-as Dodgeguy says, the more you learn the less it happens, but as has been said, that's why it's called fishing instead of catching
  15. Jim and Mike covered it real well. One thing I would add is try a dropshot, but don't just fish it vertically-cast it and work it back in.
  16. Stamina is great-I get all my spinnerbait components there.
  17. Been out at least once a week. Water temps ranged from 57-62 and crankbaits accounted for a couple but the rest all came on soft plastics-Weightless stick baits, drop shot and wacky rigs.
  18. Pitching is basically an underhand cast. Flipping is here you have a fixed amount of line out.
  19. Fill up your reel with the cheap stuff until you have about 2-3 cast lengths to go and then add the premium line. A simple overhand knot will suffice-no bass will spool you. When you can feel the knot it is time for new line.
  20. adub, first off, welcome to the forum! There is a phenomena we all eagerly seek: It is called bass thumb. Bass thumb is getting the skin on your thumb all roughed up like you used sandpaper on it due to scraping it on the bass's teeth. It is a sign you had a great day and caught a LOT of fish! Welcome it!
  21. Good for him, but a feature length movie of screamin' mimi? I'll pass.
  22. NJ-one thing to keep in mind: If the transducer is mounted on the stern what you are seeing on the depthfinder is actually behind you rather than directly underneath you. Makes a big difference when trying to fish a single, individual stump . You are correct on the marker buoys-a weight tied to the line on the buoy. It holds the buoy in place. They are an extremely useful piece of equipment.
  23. A body of mine in NC and I had this same conversation yesterday when he caught one with a bloody tail-we both agreed the evidence suggests a spawn.
  24. I got a Pentax Optio W10 just for this purpose. Tough, durable, waterproof to 5 feet and takes great pictures. Easy to use, too. Here's a review: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0602/06021503pentaxw10.asp
  25. 4th of July, about 7AM. Flyrod and I were fishing our favorite electrics only lake when I see a guy in a kayak paddling towards us. There are usually several yackers fishing along with us, so I figued this guy wanted to share info. Much to my surprise it turned out to be a game warden. We always catch and release-take a photo if it is big enough-so we didn't have anything in the livewell, but I was glad to know the TP&W guys were out.
