Specialty Tackle Junior D?
the junior d is a good crankbait...its small size makes it effective in clearer waters, tho it works in off-color, as well. i've hit 9' with it on light line...have never gotten it to 11' as its running depth is advertised. the lure in t-rig's post looks a lot like its bigger brother, which runs much shallower.

Let's Talk About Crank Bait Rods...
you may wanna look at the cbr 845...a good, powerful rod for all around cranking...got a calais 100a on mine and it pretty much handles 90% of my moving lures. if you wanna stay in the croix line, the 70mh/m is pretty close to the cbr 845.

Anyone have a Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5501 or 5500 C3?
unscrew the three knurled knobs on the handle side...they will not come all the way out...this should pull the palm sideplate and spool from the handle sideplate. the brakes should be right inside the handle sideplate and adjust just like the citica (in=off, out=on). replace the sidepaltes and spool and you should be ready to go...the 5500c3's are excellent heavy weight casters.

G-Loomis question
imx put loomis on the map, imo. nothing wrong with the gl3 but, there are comparable if not better rods in the same price range, imo.

Snaps on Traps?
been using the berkley crossloks on cranks for years...even the rapala floaters...never had a problem. have tried the norman speed clips and, tho i like their configuration better, have lost fish (and cranks) on them...and no longer use them. again, this is a personal preference thingy...there is no right way or wrong way to it.

Merry Christmas, Do I have to send this rod back?

Favorite Baitcaster
past to present set of lew's ng's set of chronarch 100a's set of calais 100a's that said, recently picked up a 50mg and it feels much better on the 783 than the calais.

Sportsman's Warehouse saves the day
ordered a sustain 2500 from cabela's a few couple years back...bail was twisted like a pig's tail. sent it back on cabela's quarter and, on cabela's quarter, they sent a replacement...this one sounded like gerbils playing basketball inside. sent it back to cabela's, again on their quarter and, this time, simply returned for credit. to cabela's credit, this is the only time have had a problem with them in the years have ordered from them...their service department does seem to bend over backwards to help you, at least in my case. return the reel.........and keep the wife!

What is RSS
boy, i really missed the mark on that one, huh?
-
What is RSS
if you're referring to rapala, believe they designate some of their suspending models (shadraps, etc.) as rss. other than that, am lost.

Trying to assemble a good baitcasting setup...
have always thought of the mbr 783 as good, basic equipment. if you shop, you can get the imx model for $160/$180. nothing wrong with the avids, either.

Megabass vs. Lucky Craft
one of each would be the better way to go.

Made the jump to better rods..........BIG JUMP
Quote of the day right there! I wish I had that mentality. I have buttloads of moderate stuff. Extremes, and low end All-Stars and the like... They work for sure, but with what I've spent, I could have had a few really nice setups, instead of a ton of adequate ones. Nice score! +1 8-) +2
