  1. I gotta step in because there has been some extreme Quantum bashing going on here lately, especially by the Shimano faithful. Most of you guys have admitted to not using one for many years. Come on guys try one before you say anything. Things change over time. Lets look at what Abu and Shimano have done. I know quite a few people with Quantums and no one has had problems with them. I've had 3 different ones and yet no problem. We're talking about difeerent models over many years. The only complaint I have against the Quantum is they are heavy. Personally I like them more than the Citica. My advice is to go and atleast play with both reels and see how they feel on the rod you wanna put the reel on. I've never used a Citica or Revo but suspect you won't go wrong with any of the 3 reels based on reviews.
  2. I forgot to mention taht as far as casting goes I see no difference between braid and mono.
  3. If this is your first baitcaster I'd recommend mono for the simple reason it can be alot cheaper. The only reason I suggest it is if you get an backlash that you can't work out. That way you won't feel bad if you have to cut it out. Probably won't be an issue but just trying to save you from any disappointment.
  4. That's the brake that will control how fast the spool spins. The dial on the other side is for the magnets which allow for more fine tuning. You're gonna wanna set both of those once you get it on a rod. If you're not sure how they work just post up here and we can help you.
  5. If you don't have some drag on the Energy the spool won't spin. Something I've learned when spooling up my 3 Energies.
  6. I have the Quantum Energy burner with braid on it and no problems. I'm pretty sure the tour should also have no problems with it. I do know a few people that have the Tour and haven't mentioned any braid problems. I'd assume it works pretty well because they haven't taken the braid off of it. Not having used a Revo I can't speak for those.
  7. Some college clubs have paper tournaments where they use the golden rule ruler with the possible fish weight printed on it. They would use that to write down and then count their 5 heaviest bass. They paired up so each catch could be verified.
  8. RW that's a pretty harsh comment. I have to ask have you ever used one? For $100 that's a heck of a reel. Sure they might be heavier but they are still a very nice reel.
  9. I didn't think it was too bad, but not exciting. I completely agree Kimbo got really lucky. I thought it was over in the second round when he was just getting beat on. Considering his 2 past fights haven't gone past 1 round it probably wasn't too bad. He does have alot of power that was easy to see in some of his escapes/counters.
  10. After having spent the last few years using this technique I can definitely say try out different crankbaits. Some just pull through alot better than others. Also when trying to pop it out try different ways. Try it like your normal hookset or lately I'be been finding grasp the rod just above the reel and pop it. Just keep trying different variations til you find what works the best for you.
  11. Could partly be because I am still young (21) but weight isn't an issue. I am using some of the new Quantum enerygy baitcaster which are some of the heavier reels. However, for me it is about the fit of the reel in my hand. I always have the reel kinda palmed so the feel/size/fit is more important. I'd rather have a little heavier reel right now that feels right rather than a light one that doesn't. I do usualy try to balance it out with a slightly lighter rod.
  12. I have it on my Energys and like it. I also have several of the old green curados. Both systems are good. I've setup my curados once and haven't need to change them since. I do find that I play more with the ACS system. Personally I like the ACS system better. I generally keep everything set really loose. Come a windy day I can really fine tune it and get it just how I like it. Make dialing it in pretty easy. I don't think you can go wrong with eother type of system.
  13. Micro I can say that they will still go up. I went to pick my mom up from work at 3:30 and they raised the price at the station right by me. Went from $4.25 to 4.29 in a matter of less than 30mins.
  14. The reason they suggest you being 18 that your body is still changing including all chemical levels. At about 18 your body levels should level out. Taking something with NO in it is changing your chemical levels in the body. Same reason why steroids are more dangerous during the teenage years. Alot of hormone levels are already at their maximum and generally the dosage taken is well over 10 times your peak level. I'm not saying steroids are good or bad but thats just one of the facts about them.
  15. First you don't really wanna drink or take caffeine before your workout. It messes with your body and testosterone. I think it was absorbtion. Caffeine takes too long to get out of the body for it to be out if you take it before a workout. Obviously not good if you wanna gain muscle or lose fat. Second all stuff like NO Explode will do is make you more vascular and maybe add some blood to your muscles. Really has the exact efect of just in you body. There are more studies than not that will say NO products are a scam. Here's a link to one of the articles. http://www.t-nation....ic.do?id=556124
  16. I've got 2 drum sets. Unfortunately no pictures. My favorite is my 1969ish Ludwig blue vistalites. Classic big drums. Coolest part is when I bought the set included all of the guys Zildjian cymbals with the 25" monster. Haven't found any info on it yet but it's over 20 years old and a Zildjian. No it's not a gong but some type of ride.
  17. That's very true Glenn. I often forget most people aren't looking to get huge. It's very true you need to experiment and find the best thing for you. Every person is different much the same that every lifting program out there won't affect everyone the same way. But no matter what you are doing nutrition is your best friend. You may even notice on days you eat better your workout will be better. If you aren't eating to support what you do in the gym you aren't going to see the full effects of what you are doing. Glenn was this all for yourself or were you into bodybuilding?
  18. Glenn after hours of reading I have to disagree with you on protein before hand. Many world class strength coaches will actually recommend it even while you are working out now. The entire idea is that it is there when you need it, and it helps keep you anabolic. From reading and personal experience I can say it helps you last longer in the gym too. You only want something small like a piece of fruit and only a shake, not a meal. If you have a Vitamin Shop around their stuff by Body Tech is good and always on sale. Helped me put on 15lbs in several months. Plus it has several flavors.
  19. Getting protein and some carbs are the key. You wanna avoid caffeine loaded drinks. They stay in your body too long and messes with testosterone absorbtion. Obviously bad if you are trying to maximize muscle use or growth. As far as what to drink whey protein and not soy unless you for some reason soy is all you can take. There is another one called Surge that is supposed to be excellent. I have alot of friends that have used it and have been very pleased. Personally I have no experience with it yet. Also after you wanna take in more protein again and it is suggested that most of your carbs for the day come in your post workout meal.
  20. I went out today and nothing was happening. Hit Brandywine for about 3hrs 1 short fish. Pretty much no matter where I went I was finding fish suspended in 4ft on the graph but they all seemed really small. I was finding clouds of fry. Nothing on beds. I'll be out somewhere else tomorrow.
  21. My dad and I used it for a few years. I think I've had 1 or 2 line breaks with it. My dad on the other had 2 years ago broke off constantly when he was drop shotting in pretty open water. We've since stopped using it.
  22. Happy Birthday and hope you feel better.
  23. If you looking to buy a rod and don't want to spend alot Allstar made or may still make one that can usually be found new atleast through Ebay stores for around $40. It's a nice rod and it works pretty well for me.
  24. I had a similar problem where it would get the signal but then it was lost. Went through about 2 pucks. Each time we'd get a new one it seemed like the problem was solved. Then they decided to switch the unit. Turned out it was actually the unit itself. It was a 332c. About 2 weeks after the dealer switched it out for us we got a call saying the gps part of the fishfinder was bad and caused the problems. O and mine is installed in the dash with the puck at most 2ft away. Thats how our dealer does them.
  25. Sometimes contacting the BFN directly can not be the best idea. Try checking out the link with all the clubs listed and check out their sites and contact them directly. Usually the individual clubs will be more help. Hey what about the TBF (The BASS Federation)? Might be another way to go. Try going back a few pages and searching through old posts too. Hope this can be of some help. http://www.ohiobassfederationnation.com/clubs.htm
