  1. I'm pretty sure MTV did that back with the Tough Enough series. I think it followed an elimination type format. So sorry LBH they already took your idea.
  2. Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky is actually pretty good. Especially a good book if you are reading for school. They used to use it for AP classes alot.
  3. That's probably why they call it sports entertainment.
  4. Like Gman said the only way to get the jig to fall vertically on a baitcaster is to pull off some line. If you already have the reel set how you want there is no need to change the settings. Almost all of my reels are the same. To prevent backlashes just keep you thumb above/on the spool. This will help prevent backlashes. At some point or another you are bound to let the jig hit the water or a dock post and your thumb will save you.
  5. Sure all the story lines and out comes are already decided. Yes some in ring action is predetermined. What about stuff like injuries. Back in May I got to spend basically an entire evening with Doink the Clown and the list of injuries he alone had is definitely real. What about their physical abilities. Haven't we seen Cena pickup and hold Big Show, Umaga, and Mark Henry? Mark Henry really does hold a world weight lifting record. Sure steroids were/are involved, but alone they can't make these guys strong and muscular. Beyond any "performance enhancing" things they make take there is alot of work and dedication that goes into thier career. Take it for what it's worth they have been trying to get a hold on these guys using illegal substances. Who doesn't remember The Master Piece coming back after several months about 50lbs lighter?
  6. Hope they have them there Fluke. Might just be because mine has a continually shrinking fishing section.
  7. You might want to check you local Sports Authority especially if they have an ever shrinking fishing section. All their clearance stuff was 30% off making the price of their advantages $63. They also had some round Abu Garcia's and a few Shimano spinning reels on the same deal too. Didn't check any other prices. Just a heads up since I know some guys like the Advantages.
  8. First crankbaits that really worked for me. Best part is sometimes you can find them on sale for $2.50 or as the sign says 2 of $5. Guess they wanted you to think you were getting a deal.
  9. I just bought a Tommy Biffle 6'10" and it's my first rod without the foregrip. I honestly don't even notice that the cork isn't there. The rod does seem to be more sensitive but it is also supposed to be for deep water jigging. Maybe that's why. I haven't had it long enough to really say if it not being there is making much of a difference. My one thought on the issue is that without the cork the rod must weigh slightly less. I do realize that much missing cork is not much of a weight reduction but if I don't miss the grip hey, all the better. I'd say if it feels good with your reel go for it. I have slightly smaller hands too and some combos because of the rod or reel just don't feel right.
  10. Looks like it was a pretty good show Burley. Was that Killings first show or did I miss him on Friday? Also looks like you had some nice seats.
  11. Wow. Hearing stuff like that reminds me how happy I am that I am staying north for pharmacy school. Heat like that in AZ just seemed like too much.
  12. Nice carp. What lake was that on? It kinda looks familiar.
  13. This article seems like it might be of some use as you learn to handle the new baby. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPage?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&&mode=article&objectID=29986&catID=Hunting&subcatID=0
  14. Like was already said try playing with the trim and throttle. If that doesn't work come back with an update. I'm sure someone will be able to help from there.
  15. I should add that as I fish alot in Michigan I tend to be a target (out of state registration). Generally the sheriff likes to make sure I atleast have my life jacket. However, when I was in a boat registered in MI they went right past us. I will say the marine division of the sheriff's department has always been very approachable and friendly. Other than having to stop fishing they haven't caused me any problems. Infact they are usually a bunch of really nice guys. In fact this past week I learned that many really enjoy their job especially when they get to go after drunken guys driving speed/ski boats that almost swamp little row boats. Although it was one I've had run ins with I of course quickly pointed out where that offender lives.
  16. I can see the giant burger. But I kinda think it looks kind of like a really big slightly deformed lobster.
  17. I don't know anything about your boat other than it isn't planing. Did it ever come on plane for you? Is this a new boat to you or have you had it for some time now?
  18. Suburb right outside of Chicago $3.97 but the station a block away from me in the city is still at $4.19 Kinda a big difference for being 3 miles apart.
  19. I don't think I've ever seen any while I've fished in Illinois. The only things I've seen is the Coast Guard while fishing one of the rivers. The Coast Guard and Chicago police often stop alot of guys I know on Lake Michigan that are fishing just for safety checks. When I'm in Michigan I've seen them out a few times in the last few years. Usually only check for licenses. Ususually the sheriff is teh one doing the checking. For all those fishing in Illinois the reason they are understaffed is they are way underbudgeted. For the last several years the DNR budgets and staff have been getting cut alot. It's actually to the point a few people I know culdn't get jobs in Illinois using their environmental degrees.
  20. Seems like an interesting idea. grimlin you don't have to buy a new handle each time you use it. It uses the 12gram CO2 cartridges like a bb or pellet gun. But, they do make a disposable handle too.
  21. Well just got back from a week in MI where prices were between $3.72-3.79 today. Although I basically went straight to work the cheapest I've seen in Chicago for 87 octane was $4.19. Interesting how prices in MI came down over $.30 probably like .40 or .45 but so far I've only seen a $.20 decrease in Chicago.
  22. I had an old Jimmy Houston rod that broke on me. Gave them a call they said cut it in like 3 or 4 pieces and send it to them. Pretty soon I was the owner of a new Clarus. Awesome on their part.
  23. Wow looks really great. Congratulations.
  24. Another great looking batch of baits. How many baits do paint a week? It always seems like you have a new set.
  25. Last summer my fishing partener and I both discovered something. Sometimes that tap tap is actually the bass picking up and spitting out the worm. We were fishing a few clear lakes and were starting to notice that was happening. Usually we were fishing some type of senko. We actually watched and felt several times and there would be a tap (the pick up) almost immediately followed by second tap (spitting out the worm). We actually discovered that 4/0 hooks with 5" senkos worked the best. extra weight of the larger hook seemed to add some extra wiggle on the fall. Some type of scent also seemed to help.
