  1. Ok guys I know this came up a few times last year but thought I'd see what everyone actually did. Did anyone actually add a HumminBird SI unit on the bow? I'll already have the 997 and am looking to switch my bow Lowrance to a HumminBird so I can network the GPS's. I understand the potential problems with a SI unit mounted on the trolling motor but I was wondering if anyone did this and how it work? Just to clarify I'm not asking about SI and the potential problems I just want to know if it worked out if you tried it. Thanks guys.
  2. Quantum products are alot better than most people on here will give them credit for. I've had/have multiple reels and so does my dad. I've also got 2 of their rods. I have yet to have a problem with any of them. I just don't get why everyone jumps onthe bash Quantum bandwagon. I understand being upset that a reel breaks but why say that everything is bad? What can I compare it to? I've Shimano, Diawa, and BPS reels and rods. The only one of those I've had a problem with was the BPS branded stuff. Yes I do agree you can get better reels for the price but when they decided to run a clearance on them and you get a $229 reel for $100 its pretty hard to beat.
  3. I don't have alot of time now to go into much now but if one of your main goals is a 6 pack you definitely need to get the diet together. The key to abs isn't any one exercise it's diet. You have to get the fat off the muscle before you'll actually see the muscle.
  4. One thing that might help is if you tell us what your goals are. Some programs or manipulatioNS of programs work better with certains goals. Ultimately, remember to listen to your body and adjust what you are doing by what your body tells you. Also nutrition will be a key to whatever you want to do.
  5. FishingBuds, I may have the papers that had that information on but I'm honestly not sure. I have 5 or 6 5" binders that are completely fully of notes and handouts. My information came from when I assisted with a flu clinic at school. As a PharmD student (future pharmacist) I have had more than a few lectures about vaccines and immunology. I'm fortunate to be at one of the top pharmacy schools in the country so many of my lectures come from some of the top experts in their fields. My question is how can you get sick? The virus in the vaccine is dead. The flu vaccine is based on the virus, not toxins produced by the virus like a diptheria vaccine. So there really isn't a way to become infected as the necessary part of the virus that would make you sick has stopped working. That's all I really want to say so this thread doesn't become another attack on the pharmaceutical industry. Hope I helped some of you gain a better understanding of whats going on.
  6. Its funny you guys put this up here because I was going to post a reminder about getting your shot until I remembered more or less being attacked for it last year. But Tyrius is right. You WON'T be getting the flu from the vaccine. It is also not a reaction to the vaccine that causes you to become sick. If you get sick right after the flu shot it's because you were already getting sick and you body diverted some energy to make the proper response to the vaccine. Also, you don't just get the flu shot for you, you get it for those you are around. Just because you don't have any flu symptoms doesn't mean you aren't spreading it. That's one of the biggest reasons they offer them to hospital employees. And for those that have severe reactions after that's why the person giving you the shot should ask you to stick around. Yes in rare instances some people can have an anaphylactic reaction. That's also why they will have an epinephrine pen available. Like a few people have said, if you really had the flu you'd get one.
  7. Soon to be 23 and a full time student and part time Pharmacy Technician for a VA hospital. Once graduation comes in 2012 I'll be a pharmacist.
  8. One thing to try are all the weeds beds in about 15ft of water, I think they are actually rock piles. Dont have my map in front of me but there are a bunch are you head away from the boat launch. Small jigs have worked for me over there. Usually the best part of the weed bed is the part heading toward the deeper water. Generally the hold really tight to the edges.
  9. Hey guys maybe we can try and plan a get together next summer. I spend alot of time over in Gobles during the summer. I usually fish all over Van Buren and Allegan counties. It'd be pretty cool to be able to actually see some of you guys. bassdocktor
  10. My fishing partner 2 years ago had a 98 with the 4.6 that he's been towing his 18ft Triton with for about 8 or 9 years now with no problems.
  11. How was the trip?
  12. One thing I can tell you is be prepared to deal with alot of ignorant boaters with large boats going to the lake if the weather is nice. Also watch the No Wake zones because 2 years ago they were really watching them once you go through the locks. BE CAREFUL!!! There is alot of junk that will float in the river. I know many people that have been running the river and have messed up props and lower units. You find floating trees and rail road ties. As far as looking for an old Bassmaster most info would either be on Lake Michigan or Lake Calumet. With all that said there are some nice fish in the river if you can find then. I wouldn't have high hopes of going out trying to find alot of 14" fish but you can definitely find alot of fish in the 12" range. If you lock though the water clears up pretty quickly. Check you PM.
  13. Sfritr there are people that atleast consider that as an option. One guy I fished with recently had purchased a boat new boat from a dealer bankruptcy that had some sun damage. Rather than repaint the boat he was considering wrapping the top part of the boat that was faded. Yes most wraps are made from vinyl. The person I know that does them usually applies them in several sections to ensure that they are staraight and that there are no wrinkles or bubbles.
  14. Welcome. Where are you fishing in Chicago?
  15. I'm guessing you are talking about regular pump prices being $3 again. Let me tell you I've passed several stations here in Chicago already over $3. I can only imagine what it's like downtown.
  16. Hey Glenn I'm not sure what to do but this is pretty common in my area. It's so bad that there are guys that want to leave when they see a guy show up for a tournament. Constant arguing, yelling, back stabbing, and even a few threats. These guys all wanted to join these clubs and now many of the clubs have trouble keeping members. All I can offer is the view of someone seeing it happen not someone that it's happening too. It's really hard to be the new guy coming in when this is happening. Many of these guys have 20+ years together but here I'm only 22. Obviously haven't known them long enough to know what's really up. You really just have to sit back and see whats actully going on and try to figure out who to believe. That's pretty hard. A situation got so bad at one point they wanted to kick our president out, but it turns out he's the guy that should be trusted, not the rest of them. It's just a really unfortunate situation.
  17. If I'm in the back of someones boat it really doesn't matter to me. I take the opportunity to watch what they are doing just like everyone else said, You can see all the areas they are missing or places that probably should get a second cast. You also get different angles. So while you might be at the disadvantage of not hitting some targets first, you do get the advantage of hitting the places your buddy doesn't Sportaholic, The Illinois B.A.S.S. Federation Nation does the same thing for the State Qualifier where both guys are suppose to be allowed equal timing running the boat. They can file a complaint if you object unless it is because you feel they will legitimately damage your boat. However, most guys seems perfectly happy to stay in the back. That might help qualify the earlier statement because I would imagine it is a similar situation. And here everyone pays the same fee and many non-boaters just didn't qualify or choose to fish as a boater.
  18. Yes, you guys are correct. It should have said "wouldn't." I don't have my computer so I was posting from my phone and it either auto corrected something and I got would or I just messed up and missed that. I'll go back and fix it when I am at home tomorrow on my computer. We covered pretty much the entire area where he thought it could have moved to. All we found was another boat someone lost.
  19. Hey guys sorry for the delay, decided to hit another lake and do some fishing. Well no body. He said odds are it's been down for awhile and he said he wouldn't be surprised if we call later in the summer. He thinks it's probably laying somewhere on the bottom. *All fixed*
  20. Hey guys I should have an update this afternoon for you. I'll be taking the sheriff out in about an hour.
  21. As far as I know Stabil shouldn't be an issue. I know with the regular one it says right on the bottle you can use double the amount if you are storing whatever it's going into. So, I would imagine it should be similar with the marine Stabil. Check the bottle out.
  22. Congratulations!
  23. I might be wring but wasn't there someone else considering something similar a little while back? Might do a search just incase. Might be able to see how somethign similar turned out if they got it done.
  24. My only complaitn about the Xtools is it measures in 16th's of an ounce and not by 100th's.
  25. It'd be alittle bit of a drive for you but you can get some decent numbers out of Lake Allegan (obviously in Allegan). Nothing huge but still possible to get numbers there. Plus, you can always go into the Kalamazoo River from there. But becareful it's pretty rocky there. That's the main one that comes to mind beside the stray smallies that you might find in a few of the lakes. Also, check out D and R Sport's website and look where the smallies form the big fish contest are coming from. I know there are more but they'd be probably be farther from you.
