Got a line on a 2002 nitro nx 750.
Would it be worth it to make a long drive to save a alot of money? Or get a great deal? Winter is closing in fast and, spring sale blowouts are right around the corner. I bought my boat when it was one year old and paid a little more than half of what it cost brand new. The boat mentioned doesn't seem to be any kind of deal and you will outgrow it within a year. Your call bud but, seems a little steep for a 7 year old Nitro with a 90.

Ebay has better deals right now. And if you keep an eye out there you may find a real bargain. A week or so ago an 01 Triton tr-20 with a 225 Evinrude went for under 10k. Wait and you will find better deals on a bigger better boat.

Caught a fish with another fish in it's mouth - Pic
My co- angler lost cashing a check by 9/10ths of an ounce. I finished in the money but less than an ounce was the difference between me finishing 10th or 6th. He finished 11 they paid to 10. In each live well there were more than a quarter pound of crayfish. And we used Sure Life Please Release Me! And this one was a big tourney too

who else is excited for fall fishing!?!
Can't wait!! I often fish well into November. I see more duck hunters than bass fishermen!!!

Dworshak Reservoir smallies
I must be a relative of Pinnochio. My brother in law and myself caught over 60 smallies each about three years ago on Erie. 40 or more each bested 4lbs with many over 5 and a couple 6s . It wasn't in a tourney just an entire sun up to sundown fishing trip.

Frankly, I think it is cheating!

Who is your favorite bass fishing TV celebrity?
I voted Dance because he entertains and I have IMO have learned the most from him and the linders, but he is alot more charasmatic. But I also love the Linders, Hank Parker. These are the only fishing shows I watch besides Basmaster series. Zona has a new one but I didn't think much of it.

My vacation and then some..
Awesome post!! And I do believe that is the first pic of a goby I have seen on this site. Does hubby ever get a bit jealous that you out fish him often? Well in his defense he is more of a multi-species angler I think. All your post have been fantasitic with a family oriented story line. great stuff Mrs. Matsone. But could you please post the pic of you fishing the house that fell into the creek? I tried to find to show a friend and I just couln't find it.

Trolling motor amp draw?
There are a number of flaws in this suggestion. It will not give you the correct result. It will perhaps give you a rough guide to maximum possible current under stalled rotor conditions but it will not answer the question of amps drawn at full power. So you could use it for sizing the cable and circuit breaker but it is useless to estimate running time at full load using battery capacity.Technical details for those who aren't quite confused sufficiently:- The faster the motor rotates, the less current it will draw due to "back emf" generated in the rotor. This is the voltage generated by the rotor that gets subtracted from the 12 volt supply. At full speed but no load (in air) the back emf voltage could be as much as 90% or more of the supply voltage so instead of 12 volts available to flow through the Resistance it may be less than 1 volt. As you place a load on the motor, it slows down, produces less back emf, so more voltage is available to flow through the windings and it draws more current to provide power for the load you applied. This is further complicated depending on how the speed control works. In the case of electronic controls, there will be no voltage supplied to the electronics when measuring resistance so the motor will never turn on and you will get an artificially high result. WOW!! Now that is pure electrical genius talking.

Wierd fish disease? (pics)
Is there a way for us to be sure it is Lymphocystis. If so should we dispatch all fish caught displaying these type lesions? I figure it would be a huge mistake to put one in a livewell as well. What course of action should we take Mr. Lusk?

A Tragic Accident
That IS a tragically strange story. I feel for the family. Maybe something happened prior to the fall. Heat stroke or something similar. I wear my pfd 50% of the time and when I am boating alone. After that thread about the FLW guy who was ejected from the boat and was hurt bad I have been wearing it more often while driving my boat. I however rarely if ever have it on while I am not running my big motor, and never from the bank. I really think when it's your time to go it's your time to go.

Need boat advice!!!
Spend a little time searching the internet and places such as Ebay, boat trader and others you can find some really killer deals. Now that summer is just about over, hold and you should really be able to get at the very least a decent Pro Craft or Nitro with at least a 115. A Triton tr21 with a 225 evinrude went for under 10k on Ebay last week. Here is one example http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2F250288315495_W0QQadgroup_idZ286970115QQcreative_idZ688700055QQfclZ4QQfnuZ1QQfsopZ1QQkeywordZbassQ20boatQQoriginZhttpQ3aQ2fQ2fwwwQ2ebassresourceQ2ecomQ2fbassQ5ffishingQ5fforumsQ2fYaBBQ2eplQ3fnumQ3d1220546429Q2f0QQtestZGadgetQ5fKWQQtypeZQ7bifsearchQ3asearchQ7dQ7bifcontentQ3acontentQ7dQQfviZ1&item=250288315495 but, I am sure you can find one just as nice for around 4k.

Importance of wind direction ?
Thats why I have a 50" shaft. No problem fishing even the choppiest rip rap or any other windy bank for that matter. I can hold tight over a peice of structure on Erie with no problem in 2-4 footers.

A Lesson Learned
Having a child with Leukemia I wholeheartedly appreciate any effort you put forth. I wish I had known of this tourney! I would have drove from Ohio just to participate. I have some things to do right now but I will post back asap.

Importance of wind direction ?
No way! The wind is my friend. There is ALWAYS a way to take advantage of it IMO.

Largemouth released on open Erie
Man, I'm with you! Why anyone would waste time fishing for green fish when smallmouth are an option is a mystery to me. : If the lake is forecasted to be fishable then I agree. In the Erie area it's not uncommon for the lake to be too rough to take a bass boat out so largies in the bay may be your only option. I've also seen times where the lake was unfishable in the morning and by afternoon it has laid down so out you go to cull the largies you caught in the bay. That lake is so unpredictable at times ya just never know. Exactly, When the Forecast is 3-5 feet or less I am fine with that but, when there is a small craft advisory and the waves are rolling over the breakwalls, common sense tells you to try and let the lake settle awhile. It's not hard to pick up a limit of LM in an hour or less somtimes and the smallies can come just as fast, if not faster. I got caught in a storm in 8-10 footers once and that is not fun fishing believe me(over an hour to go 3 miles). When the guys were enjoying themselves at the Elite series event out of Buffalo with 1-3s we got 5+s out of Sandusky. The majority of the fish weighed in that day were largemouth. And Tokyo Tony I don't personally know Stricker but, I have been to many events where he was speaking and showing his videos and having Q&A sessions.

Lake Erie Largemouth
Yeah, Maybe they have restarted the program but, not to my knowledge. They used to have a few D.A.R.E. officers with logoed cars. My daughter is 8 and since she has been in school I have not seen one. I have had that shirt for like 16 years literally. I am from the Akron, Ohio area and heard at one time D.A.R.E had lost it's funding and would be cancelled here. Maybe it has been started again but, not to my knowledge.

swimbait + jig = labor day donk

Lake Erie Largemouth
Thank you Nitro , Unfortunatly the D.A.R.E program was discontinued. I still support the cause though!
