  1. Sold my Ranger to buy a Triton, but the Zs are really really nice boats. You can't go wrong either way. IMO. I like a 20. Those 7" are kinda big. my friend has a TR21 and I have a TR20 and mine may even draft a little shallower, just a couple of inches though.
  2. Well there wasn't a whole lot we could do then. We were 6 miles up the lake and the storm just came through. We tried to get as deep into the woods as possible and were surrounded by tall trees. I wouldn't fish with the lightning directly above me again. I try not to be that foolish. A tree about 80 feet tall fell 150 feet from us into the lake as we were moving towards it. All we heard was a sound like somebody roofing and then all of a sudden CRASH. We would have never been able to get out of the way if we were under it.
  3. Like all your fish I have seen posted. Just gorgeous!!
  4. I must be the dumbest SOB on the planet. Two years ago my tourney partner and I fished a tournament at Mosquito in Ohio at the launch the weather was fair, but as we went up the lake there was a terrible thunderstorm moving in. When we got to the causeway there were too many boats hiding out under the bridge so we continued. We got back up on plane and lightning struck so close my ears were ringing. I finally had to shut down after taking a quarter size peice of hail to the lip (that stung) we TMed over to start at our first spot and fished with our flippin sticks with lightning all around us. Thinking back to then it was pretty stupid to use the biggest graphite stick I have in that weather. I caught a 4 pounder on the second pitch and forgot about the weather. We ended up 4th. Dumb yes, but I still fish until the lightning is right up on me. Another tourney I was fishing with my more sensible brother in law and a really bad storm came in. We docked the boat and sat under a pavillion watching the show and two trees got hit across the lake. That was an awesome thing to see!
  5. Also if you join photobucket you can send pics directly there from your phone. It's free.
  6. I will cut back on other things if it comes down to it. I usually have someone along that splits the fuel cost. When I go alone it's to close lakes. I am lucky to live 10 minutes or less to the Portage Lakes in Ohio, and really close to Lake Erie and alot of other good lakes. I would support a boycott of oil companies honestly, if it would drive the price of gas down. There is no way of that happening though to many people and businesses. Hey the president of Iran thinks oil is still too cheap so whats next?
  7. Both of em came on shad colored cranks while casting along the breakwalls for bass. I had three others hooked up but their mouths are super tough and they jump like crazy.
  8. I think senkos really excel in calm water when you are casting to a specific target. Any water temp really. If it is calm I will throw a senko first as they will not send out a huge profile to spook nervous fish.
  9. Here are a couple steelhead I caught November 4th 07. We had a great last day of bass fishing topped off with these steelies. These fish are stocked in Lake Erie every year and my dad likes to eat them thats why I kept them. These fish are amazing acrobats, jumping 5 or more feet in the air.
  10. I went out on foot today after waking to a warm day with a little drizzle. When I got to the spot the sun was sttarting to peek out. After walking about 100 yards I caught my first nice fish of the year, about a 4 to 4 1/2 pounder. Then maybe another 50 yards I caught another piggy goin about 5 to 5 1/2. I am not going to post these for the fish across america bacause I didn't have a scale or tape, and I wanted to post smallies anyways. Anyway it was good, I was out for less than an hour and caught two good fish. I called my wife and went and picked her and my daughter up to walk with me and take better pictures, but by the time we got back to the spot the sun was out and the wind had died. Sorry about the pics I was by myself and took them with my phone.
  11. I am as left handed as it gets. I hold the rod and set the hook with my right and crank with my left. I feel very awkward the other way around.
  12. X2 Go a little heavier on the oil. Plugs are cheap. A burnt up powerhead is not.
  13. Geez! That is a nice fish!! Awesome!!
  14. If you are looking for glasses to sightfish check out the Solar Bat Mossbacks. They are excellent for shallow water.
  15. Is smb small mouth bass? Is there really a smallmouth bass circuit? Can you weigh in a largemouth if so? Is this a trick like CATT says? Canadians have largemouth too I have fished there.
  16. Sounds like you had a great day. Congrats!!
  17. Just remember the lighter the line the more prone you will be to the backlashes. So practice with the lighter line a little.
  18. Yeah it happens. I guess thats why tackle makers have not come up with a SNAG PROOF design. If you never got hung up you wouldn't buy as much. I guess the bright side would be knowing there is a tree there now.
  19. Nice fish and great paint job!! Congratulations!!!
  20. I would most likely go with a tube. The Senkos are hard to pass though.
  21. Since nobody from Ohio has posted yet I guess I will be the first to say I'll take Ohio. Are we looking for lunkers or do you just want us to post a couple out fish from an outing. I mean do bigger fish count for anything?
  22. I like the Extremes they are a great value and durable too. They are not too heavy either. Not the smoothest reel made but for under $100 what do you expect. I am sure the Pfluegers are good too my father has a couple and they seem on par with other reels in the price range. I have never used my dads though I am a lefty and he is a righty.
  23. Trees are a different story hang a hook in one and you are pretty much up the creek. You can get the lure retriever that looks like a golf ball retriever, but if its to deep it won't work. Do you throw jigs without a weedguard? Gotta get that feel and stop setting the hook into trees. You will get it in time!
