chatterbaits how do you fish them ?
Throw em out reel em in! These baits vibrate so much it's rediculous. Fish them like you would a spinnerbait. They won't roll either so you can reel them really fast too.

plastics casting rod
A Bass Pro Shops Extreme or Pro-Qualifier 6'-6"or 7' MH . Both have very fast actions and are well worth the price I think they are on sale now. For t-rigged plastics the Pro would problably be slightly better as it is a little stiffer and faster. The Shimano and Falcons have more name than anything.

Tungsten Weights
Also, I am no treehugger but they are alot more environmentally sound. Sometimes I wonder when I lose a jig or worm if the lake was drained and I walked around how many baits would I find? The exception for me is tube jigheads I like to fish an open hook and a tungsten weight would be wasted inside a tube!

Bass or Carp?
Sorry. I just reread the thread and the algae may hinder you, but still if you cannot tell the difference from the amount of water being moved try something else. carp are ugly but they are also very sensitive to noise and have a very keen sense of smell. they will bolt sometimes from the sound of my TM from 50+ feet and it is very quiet.

Bass or Carp?
How in the world can you not tell a carp from a bass? carp are at least twice the size of bass and move a whole lot more water than bass. If they are shallow is the water so dirty you cannot see them? If the water is clear and you cannot tell the diff than something is wrong. carp are way more social than bass and usually their are large numbers of them in the shallows together making all kinds of splashes chasing each other and what not. I was out Sunday and could honestly tell the carp from 50 yards away. Polarized glasses will help if you cant see through the water.

spring at Erie
when you find fish mark them with your gps so you an stay on that spot or make multiple drifts over that spot. don't overcomplicate things either drifting is like bank fishing for catfish kinda. make sure you have a drift sock. make sure your bait stays in contact with the bottom.

Trolling Motor Batteries
Look at the trojan batteries website. They list their batteries and a dealer local to you. Very good batteries this will be season 3 for mine and they are still very strong. I fish alot. At least 6 hours a trip and thats a short one about three time a week. 20 foot Triton boat w a Motorguide 24 volt 71 lb TM.

spring at Erie
Find transitions mud/rock/sand. Start in 40+ feet drift your tubes into 8-10 feet when you find fish concentate on whatever they were relating to. Maybe a specific rockpile, shoal or depth. when you find 1 smallie at Erie you will find more. Many more!

The term cruising bass...
To me a cruising bass is one searching or waiting for a time or place to spawn. You will see them in the shallows alot swimming back n forth problably very aware of your prescence. Don't waste your time!

Colored Mono...
Yellow braid with a flouro leader. you could see that from space!! My dad has trouble seeing lines and uses flourecent green line with a leader. when we fish together sometimes this setup distracts me!!! It looks like he is fishing with a light sabre!!!

Tungsten Weights
Made the switch a couple years ago and not goin back. pricey yes but they are worth it. smaller, louder and more sensitive. Kinda like hitting a nail with a hammer (tungsten) vs hitting a nail with a plastic mallet (lead)!

How is your Bait Casting reel setup?
I have removed all 6 of the brakes on my bc's. tension knobs get set to where i can let my lure freefall and not overrun when they hit the deck. I depend on the ole thumb to handle the rest once the lure is in the air. I problably get 40-50 yards out of a 1/2 oz rattletrap or other semi-aerodynamic baits and maybe 30-35 w 3/8-1/2 oz spinnerbaits chatterbaits and other less aerodynamic lures. Usually casts are only 25 yards or less though.

Which should I buy?
If you fish the grubs or ika on a jighead in the rocks you will lose at least three a day. especially if you are not used to fishing them. on a good day you will use a bag of senkos easily. you will build a greater confidence in ONE of those colors and sizes than all of the others combined, even though it may not be the perfect choice. choose a basic color for the body of water you are fishing. clear-natural colors/ dirty water-brighter colors or a dark color with a chartruese tail. personally I wouldnt start with any of the colors in the mentioned box but thats just me (very picky too!!)

In the Rain
I like to throw buzzbaits or other loud lures when its raining as long as the water temp is 55+.
