Though I'm just a novis fisherman, I'm versed enough to know I bed when I see one. As Tin stated, in this body of water you can see the bottom iin 15' of H20. The SM were in 1'- 4' of water w/beds being 3' in diamater, and cleared of all silt w/small stone and gravel. Here you can see beds 30 yards away and where I posted all the pic'e of SM in the Spring. Bounced everthing from drop shots,1/6oz jigs, craws and swimbaits etc...off them. The same lures used in the Spring spawn that will fill the boat w/ 80lbs and some of the most aggressive SM I've ever caught, up to 75 & 80lbs a day! It was just like in the spring when they're not interested in anything but a male When they wouldn't budge,we pulled the boat over the top of them to be sure. Some of these SM where in the 5 and 6lb range. No mistaken the black lined tail of a SM. Someone who knows the lake well pm'd me about the fry, which were Rainbow Smelt and the reason this body of water produces fish in the 8lb catagory

I've heard of this, yet witnessed it for the 1st time yesterday. Amazing to see,but even worse to be fishing during it! Water temps were in the 62-63* range, w/SM on newly made beds in extremely shallow water. The beds were only on the N-W side of the pond, which leads to to believe it was because that side of the pond recieves the most sunlight throughout the day. The SM were breaking the surface all over the pond when I launched and the water was like glass! I thought they were all smashing the bugs I saw ontop. As the day wore on, I noticed these itsy-bitsy fry just under he surface, which were at the most a 1/2 an inch long,no wider than a 4/O hook, and blue-ish in color. Then realized that's what the SM must have been banging. I then started to wondered what they could possibly be at that size, and what hatchs this late in the year? A light wind started @ about 5mph and all the SM disappeared. Saw some huge cruirsers in the 6lb range as well as having some of the biggest SM I've ever seen following the 6" Hudd, in Holdover Trout. Unfortunatley, NO TAKERS! :-/ A very befuddling day! Yet, a great learning experience!

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here and guess it's becuase he's such a fine, upstanding citizen that we all want to emulate

I've been using the E7 for about 2 weeks now and can't say enough good things about it! It's handled everything from 3/16 of an ounce to 2oz swimbaits and 10-14lb test with ease. IMO, $179.00 is well worth it and worth waiting for. There are now 2 more E7's on my wish list!

I can't agree more Matt!!!!! Everytime I go there always seems to be more and more litter in the water. This kills me! I can't for the life of me understand how anyone can be so neglectful with any reasource,never mind one like this!

I got a check yesterday for one of the reels I'm selling! Funny thing....... They send the money back in the tube, I drive away opening the envolope. Get a half mile down the road counting the $, get to the last bill and it's the check they just cashed:blink: I turn around,pull in and park.Walk up to the door and thier locking the door in front of me as I'm walking up. I'm waving the check in the air yelling "WAIT,WAIT"! The guy's who's locking the door pretends not to see me, locks the door and runs back behind his cubical MORON! I walk around the building and plaster the check against the window at the drive threw.......................... Funny how quick they'll open the door for you, 2 minutes past closing, when it's their check! I should have sent it back to the sender!

Come to think of it......... it kinda resembles what was crawling out Tin's pants leg :-/

Me and the crotch cricket kid were there a few days back, we were the only boat all day. Though, this was the day the hurricane passed by. This thread was actually me thinking out loud and didn't plan on bringing anyone who didn't already know about it. I intro'd a few new people to it this year, knowing they would keep it clean and treat it w/respect. Also, I'm now sorry I posted all the smallies from the spring. Didn't know it was a secret until it was to late :'( If the CROTCH CRICKET KID is available, we're on for the 25th. Lets keep this small (5 boats) as attempted in the start of this thread. Took me ten years to find it and don't want to spend the next ten years wishing I didn't $20 a boat Team T with a 2 fish limit (must have 1 per angler). GREAT IDEA!
