  1. I don't have a problem working slow, but some things are a snooze fest.
  2. I had a hot shot rod for trout fishing. I thought I was pretty cool.
  3. Anyone that uses a Uni to Uni over an Alberto just hasn't had a major failure.....yet. If one is working, stick to it.
  4. I hate braid too, but it's on around half my rigs. Necessary evil for what I do. Sort of like drop shotting - I bet everyone thinks I LOVE it. I don't. It's like watching paint dry, but there's really no other way for some things.
  5. I guess there's some intangibles about braid preference that only usage will bring about. I will say, while I've been pretty opinionated about what I like to use (Power Pro) I have tried quite a few newer name out there, and some notables: Kanzen, HeviCore, and Tournament * have been pretty good lines to use.
  6. If I used a lot of shaky heads, I'd agree as well. But I don't, so we don't pour them. Instead of paying over a buck a jig, and two bucks (tungsten sinkers in NYS), we're paying pennies each. A good source of clean lead helps, of course.
  7. I guess it depends on what you're wanting from it. I don't have any problem using my GPS/graph units. I'd rather it all be in one.
  8. It's true, though. Especially this part..... They're fine bearings. Way overpriced.
  9. Good post! We save a ton of money pouring our own drop shot weights, tube jigs, and wacky jigs.
  10. Yes. It's a heavy cover jig, aka flipping jig. You can swim it. If you're good, you can skip it.
  11. Says everyone that never used a 50 series round reel. They actually palm a little smaller, due to the shape. They are shorter, longitudinally than a low pro.

  13. The issue has nothing to do with the knob "knocking around" or side to side movement. The movement felt is from the other knob spinning. A shim will not stop a knob from spinning, grease will.

Bread was still $4 a loaf last time I checked.

  16. I'm with you there. For jig and worm reels, I pack the bearings with grease. What drives me nuts is the wobbling feeling from the other knob you aren't holding. I've heard several complaints from thieves as well. I do like a bearing or two so porting the knobs though, simply for the durability. If you go without, I prefer the setup that uses a plastic bush in place of a bearing. That's a smoother setup than the old brass post riveted in that is hard to clean.
  17. Pinned! Mine is going out tomorrow or Monday.
  18. In all these years, I never knew what you did. I thought you just fished, lol.

It's wash. Senseless, gas consuming burnouts also consume tires, lol.
  20. Definitely one of the more useful apps on my phone! It's great for pre-game research, and for mapping out planned routes with times, but on the water it's not very practical. Eats up batteries fast, too.
  21. So, KVD pulls up to your neighbor's dock and pulls a 25 lb. bag of fish out of there, and motors off to the weigh in. You think I'm not gonna toss under that dock next time out because of some sense of pride over finding my own spots? You think I never fish behind someone with some other bait? LOL. Let's be civil guys.
  22. Everyone should learn to net their own. I tell all my partners this. I'll help net them when they can't. As far as baits go, I don't worry about that too much. I can find something that will work.
