Potential World Record Meanmouth. Guess where?
Am I the only one that is bothered by the writer referring to a hybrid as a species? Nice catch for sure, though.

Bling or no bling
I like nice things, but unless the bling serves some kind of purpose, I'm indifferent to it.

Any interest in trapping?
I had a mole in the basement a few weeks ago. He eventually got stuck in the dogs' water bowl. I was gonna just put some cardboard over it and let him free, but my wife let the dogs down stairs. My GSD "rescued" the little guy by picking up out of the bowl and dropping him on the floor. When he tried to run away, the dog ate him, lol.

What is your go to “I’m 100% gonna catch” lure?
Don't have one, but I know that every lure I own is going to 100% produce at some point. I don't think there's a lure that works 100% of the time. If that were true, why bother with anything else?

What pound test line?
I prefer to not use a leader. I'll add one if I suspect I'm not getting bites. The answer for me as far as whether fish are line shy is sometimes, but definitely not always or never. I'll also use a leader if I'm fishing wood. The leader will be strong enough for the bait, but light enough to break off if my jig gets hung in the wood. Usually 12# is fine as a fluoro leader. If I'm fishing weeds, straight braid, no leader.

Boat paint
There's several brands of aluminum boat paint you can find online.

What pound test line?
I would use 50# braid on the H rated rod and 15-17# fluoro on the MH.

Bass fanning out beds
Fisheries management in my college days...though I never finished my degree. You could also assume any fish over a certain size is female as well, especially in warmer fertile waters. 3 lbs. isn't really big enough to make that assumption, especially in SC. I've often read that you can vent sex them, but I have never been able to tell the difference. I will also say, males create nests. When spawning is over, the female leaves. They often find another male to spawn with. They do get damaged tail fins, but it isn't from fanning. It is from the male nipping during the spawning fervor. Males remain locked on the nest to fan the eggs with their pectoral fins, not their caudal (tail) fin. From all this evidence, it sounds like you saw a 3 lb. male creating a nest.

Bass fanning out beds
Take it easy. The only way to sex a live bass is with a urogenital probe. A taxidermist could also examine the gonads post mortem. Some of your story is confusing. Have a nice day.

Lost my taste !!
OTC tests are bunk. My entire house had Omicron, but my youngest son (21 mos.) and myself never tested positive. Everyone else tested positive. These were the Abbott test kits, not the cheapo Biden kits we got in the mail. I'm triple dosed with Pfizer, so I'm thinking that had an effect on the test kit results. Yes, I lost my sense of smell. Put hot sauce on everything you eat. Glad you are feeling better.

Bass fanning out beds
How? Largemouth bass are not sexually dimorphic. So, tell us all the magic trick to sexing bass. Also, why did you take a 6 lb. bass to a taxidermist when you catch several double digit bass every year?

Seaguar Tatsu or something else for main line
Tatsu is my default answer. What type of setup?
