  1. I read an article years ago about him being a bass fisherman. I considered it his only saving grace.

Rubba's numbers are right on according to the tech at Batson. He even mentioned the #4. I have conveyed all of this to him. I have thought about giving it a whirl myself someday.

I am having a rod built. I am not concerned about his craftmanship, as I have seen many of his rods and he has made hundreds. He is though, more of a bay type of fisherman and rod builder for stripers and the like. We have collaborated on what I am looking for in a bass rod. He has also willing taken the advice of his supplier when he called to order supplies and communicated a lot with me. It will be a spiral wrapped rod. The supplier recommended starting with a #16 guide and ending in #6 guides, all low profile. This sounds good. He recommended a 16MM reel seat. This is the item I need to make sure will be right. I want to make sure this is the smallest diameter seat for this rod. Rod is 6' 10" MH pitching rod. Batson IMB 843 blank.
  4. I've always wanted to give one a whurl. I see a few 150's at a decent, "try me out price". Does anyone have any opinions on the 150's? I know they are an older model and aren't made any longer.
  5. I know it is not a collectible of any sort. Heck, I still have the same rod in an ultra light spinning model from the same era. I use it all the time. I'll either let my son use it or take it to one of the many fishing flea markets we have in this area during this time of year. It's a much better deal when there is no shipping involved when your buying rods.
  6. I came into possession of an original Berkley Lightning Rod. Model LR16. It is 5' 6" with a pistol grip. From what the wonderful internet tells me, it is from the early/mid 80's. Orange and yellow wraps. Berkley HEART logo. Everything about this rod is almost perfect for having been made almost 30 years ago. There aren't even scratches on the reel seat label. I don't know if I'm going to keep it or not.
  7. When Walter is on stage, can anyone vouch for the whereabouts of Long Mike?
  8. They are great reels. Like everyone else has said, get it serviced by a professional. I heard there's a guy named Mike Lawson that's pretty good. (how was that Mike, subtle enough?)
  9. Three people with some wasp/hornet spray. Wait for dusk/dark (they will all be back in the hive by then) Stand back far enough to be accurate and not spray each other. You must hit all of the openings of the hive. As they come piling out of the opening, they're going down. Go ahead and empty the cans, soak it good.
  10. Mike's gonna get a swelled head.

One day St. Charles Borromeo was relaxing and playing billiards with a few of his priests. One priest asked another this same question except the time frame was shorter. After all of the priests answered what they would do, (answers varied from celebrating Mass, making a general confession, visiting family and the such) they asked the bishop. Charles figured the original questions was really to see what his answer would be. Charles answered that he would continue and finish the billiard game that he was playing. After all he said, "I began it with the intent to glorify God". Whatever you're doing, do it with HIS glory in mind. Not a sermon, just a thought. (to quote from the Washington DC Metro area radio commercial LOL)

I loved her music. I can watch her youtube videos for hours. I was hoping for a recovery but... There was a tremendous talent under the tragic circus that her life ended up being. For those who only knew the circus, here are two performances. NO HATERS PLEASE
  13. I am pleasantly surprised that a high school kid is on here asking for advice. (and hopefully following it) Usually they think they have all the answers and like to spout off. Kudos to you Fat-G, a boy growing into a man. Remember, a wise man seeks counsel.
  14. I've done that. Feel the tap (the inhaling of the bait), reel down to "feel" the fish (I feel the blowing out of the bait as the second tap) Swing and a miss. Twice. (it is then that I remebered the Shaw Grigsby theory) Third time I decided to watch the line. Bait went down, line twitched, set hook, fish in the boat.
  15. As an inexpensive test, buy a balancing kit. Put it on and test.
  16. Burley would be so touched at the out pouring of feelings.
  17. I just accidently broke my first Denali rods last week. Rosewood. Really nice rods.
  18. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/user/4338-burleytog/ Wasn't this his last screen name? Or is it someone else?
  19. Well? How'd you do?
  20. Crocs. Go to a Crocs store. Much more attractive models than the ones in most stores.
  21. Don't tell them you put Hot Sauce on them!
  22. Parabolic is the action. What is the power? I have an older Castaway HG40 Flppin stick, slow, parabolic action, heavy power. I know that Gary Klein's Signature flippin stick is a parabolic action.
  23. Spoken like someone with no idea. Talk about not having a clue.
