  1. I talked to a local guide last night. He said the last hurricane moved a lot of surface hydrilla into mounds. But the high water & redistributed hydrilla has scattered the fish. It is fishing tough right now with fewer big fish available.
  2. The other solution is to tie your braid to a very small swivel & then your leader below that about a foot. The swivel’s I use are small enough to pass thru the tip top guide with ease.
  3. Not my picture but worth sharing.
  4. I have caught over 100 smallies six lbs & bigger on mono leaders attached to braid and three over seven lbs so my success dispels the mono versus flourocarbon myth. None of those were on topwater baits.
  5. It goes both ways for me. Sunny & cloudy/rain.
  6. Yea and they were down 10-0 before they woke up just like OSU was down 10-0 at PSU. Until somebody beats them they are a Cinderella team for sure. But they have two big games coming up.
  7. When it comes to football it's hard to beat Michigan, Penn State or Ohio State from the big ten. The SEC has a few winners as well.
  8. Keep up the fight.
  9. Congrats on the great day. Just what you needed,
  10. My only success under those circumstances was using a SK lipless titanium blue & silver ripping it as soon as hit the water. Then ripping it again after a short retrieve. Definitely a fast reaction bite that really worked that day.
  11. He’ll of a season considering what your dealing with. Well done.
  12. You did good Katie.
  13. Welcome to BR.
  14. Wow what a turnaround. You & your daughters deserve a break. Looking forward to your reports.
  15. Very slight upgrade for me with a 5.5 & 5.25 to 28.44. Fall fishing can be bear on the big lake when mother nature doesn't cooperate.
  16. They have a quality coach & quarterback. They are looking like a sleeper in the BT so far but they have OSU & Michigan & Michigan State on the schedule so we will see.
  17. Excellent suggestion. The kiss theory works for investing very well.
  18. Not my favorite practice once the bite is established but I knew going in he fished. If I had fired him I would be stuck on shore lol.
  19. I always wanted to fish the Buffalo waters of Lake Erie so we planned to do it this fall. Flew up on Sunday & fished for 5 days during the week. We were greeted with small craft advisories & mostly 4 foot waves on day one. We could not get out to the Meyers reef area we wanted to access so we fished 2 or 3 spots closer to the ramp in the main lake. Tried blade baits but could not get bit. We ended fishing drop shots & dragging tubes. Most bites were on the drop shot but the bigger fish came on the tubes. We needed 1/2 & 3/4 oz weights to stay in contact with the bottom while drifting. Same with the tube weights. We caught numbers but only up to 4+lbs. Target depths were 30 to 40 fow. Same for day 2. Day three was so bad we could only fish the upper Niagara river because the wind was howling. We used jerkbaits & drop shot rigs & fought wind blown weeds all day. We did manage to catch some smallies with the big fish at 4.5 lbs. Thursday we still had wind & waves but not as bad so we could go where we wanted and the wind/waves played down as the day progressed. We got much better numbers & size. Capt Joe Fonzi caught a 6-15 & Rob & I each got a 5.5lber. Very good day with lots of marks all on bottom in 35-40 fow. The last day was forecasted to get very windy by noon. We slowly ran back out which took almost an hour. We caught fish up to 5.5lbs then had to quit early because it was building. By the time we were approaching the harbor it was solid 6 footers with some rogue 8s mixed in. We fished out of a 22 foot ranger 622FS Pro with a 400 verado & 15hp kicker. Very good boat for the great lakes in that class except for the swells that come over the stern corners.
  20. Even though the Bucks lost the Oregon/OSU game was a thriller throughout.
