  1. I typically will do 1.5 to 2 hrs one way in the same day. For an overnight trip its usually capped at 4 hrs one way.
  2. Not only muskie but also pike & lake trout. The bursting bubbles is what they say gets their attention.
  3. Max depth for walleye deep diving baits is 200-240 without weight just straight braid.
  4. I would just say they are cheap for a reason. The resale will suffer if that matters. I have no personal experience with Mitsubishi but I am not a fan. You would be better off with Toyota or Honda for a Japanese vehicle. The Korean brands Kia & Hyundai offer a good quality vehicle for a little lower price than the Japanese currently. I have owned about a dozen different Toyota models & currently have both a Kia & a Hyundai.
  5. Yes she had a torn lip from being hooked previously. I was using a single screw lock light weighted hook that stuck just above where the jaw was torn so I knew it wasn't from me.
  6. Best one from yesterday. Fishing up at Headwaters near Fellsmere FL. We caught them on jerkbaits, whopper ploppers, frogs, worms, traps, bladded jigs, swim baits & this one came on a mag fluke.
  7. Amazing fact is that the pending world record meanmouth is still smaller than the world record smallmouth a tribute to David Hayes' accomplishment.
  8. You need to either live with it or set it aside. The bail is not intended to be modified.
  9. Sounds like your problem has to do with your credit card accepted billing address versus what you are reporting. Have you changed addresses recently. Double check with your credit vendor to determine what is causing the problem.
  10. Check with Megabass first regarding your warranty just to be sure. They might disallow the warranty if someone alters it.
  11. Keith the varying rod lengths will work but you can help reduce tangles by varying the amount of line out. Place the shortest rod forward by staggering short to long then let out more line on each going from short to long. If you stagger the line lengths by 10 to 20 feet per rod it really helps. If you find all your bites are further back from the boat you can adjust to longer leads or just use fewer rods. You could premeasure the amount of line out by placing a slide on bobber stop to each line that you can wind on to each reel spool for future length reference for staggering your setups.
  12. Walleye are partial to almost the same baits as bass. You can target them with jerk baits & crank baits either casting or trolling. They will be shallow early in the season & retreat to deeper water as the lake temps rise. They do suspend at bait levels & often target open water bait balls. They are primarily low light feeders except for deeper water during daylight. When they are found on or near the bottom they can be targeted with jigs tipped with worms or minnows or soft plastics, plain hair jigs, swim baits or vertically jigged with blade baits and spoons. Walleye can also be found in or near weed edges picking off bait hiding in or near the cover. Experienced walleye fisherman also target them at night or low light on top water baits near cover.
  13. X3 Fish USA has always been the fastest shipper of all I have tried
  14. Hot & Tots hunt when trolled. That means they wiggle along & suddenly dart to the left then return to center and then they dart to the right & return to center. The sudden change of direction is like a crank bait deflecting off cover. Smallies absolutely kill them. The metal link connecting your knot to the bait sometimes needs tuned (bent) left or right to keep them on track. You can run them behind the boat within sight at around 5 miles per hour to determine if they need adjusting. When they are properly tuned they always return to center. When they are not they run only in one direction & blow out. They are a great search bait to locate bass if you don't have electronics. They will troll down to around 15 feet.
  15. Beat me to it. Most models had metal bills either semi polished or dull. Others had painted metal bills.
  16. X2 Hands down it's a very effective presentation. Your bait is always in the strike zone because your not retrieving & casting it. It also forces some guys to slow down their retreive based on wind speed.
  17. Almost any where you find water that isn't posted. It is open carry in FL when fishing if that makes you feel any safer.
  18. Aaron your drag setting is obviously fine based on the two DD's you landed. Enough said. I have been using the Owner Zo wire hooks since they came out & have been very happy with them. The STX-45ZN in 2X+ is what I have been using in the smaller sizes for jerk baits & the STX-58TN 3x+ for the larger sizes for cranks & swimbaits targeting trophy bass in FL & Mexico. As far as colors gold works really well as does bone or white. Don't you just love it when the state of FL pays you for catching a big bass?
  19. Sean patience is king, I agree but don't paint yourself into a corner believing that if you are more patient than all other anglers you will be rewarded. It takes a multi-approach effort to be successful. You need to combine your superior patience with all other skills like locating, presentation, timing & not choking your chicken when you finally hook up with the fish of your dreams. All the patience in the world will not help you if your not in the right spot. My biggest weakness in chasing trophy smallmouth on Lake Erie was continuing to rely on methods that were always successful in the past at the expense of spending more time locating or relocating where the fish were at any given time. Time on the water grants us a history of finding good fish structure but fish location evolves with changing conditions which we must adjust to in order to be successful.
  20. Great start on the new year Logan.
  21. If you use a palmar knot the double line would eliminate your problem with the suspect hooks.
  22. X2 Also check the saltwater tackle selections.
