I've caught some decent fish on them paired with 4.5" paddletail swimbaits. I haven't heard of using them with finesse worms before, I'll have to give that a try.

so what kinda bags are they weighing in? Sounds like more weight than 2005 but does anybody have any actual numbers?

Lol I made a thread about that a while ago, based on the internet pic I didn't think it looked to bad but I saw it in BPS the other day and I about busted a gut laughing. It looks like the offspring of a character out of finding nemo that mated with an old toothbrush.

small 1/8oz single spin spinnerbaits, maybe not the most underated but not a lot of guys fish 'em and they've pulled me out of some tough spots

spinnerbaits, lippless cranks, or tubes, mostly spinnerbaits though find cleaner water if you can, retiredbosn is right, run up a creek if you can find 'em, they often have clearer water and smallmouth will stack up in there

I just finished reading the play Buried Child by Sam Shepard. I'm not normally a play kinda guy but I had to read it for an AP English class I'm taking next year. Well anyway, I couldn't put it down... not so much because I found it enjoyable but because it was so warped I couldn't stop reading it. Definitely one of the most twisted/confusing things I've ever read. If you're looking for something to make your family issues seem normal, I suggest reading it lol. Has anybody else read this or seen the play? :o

X2, the first time I caught a smallmouth over 4lbs I thought I had hooked a huge channel cat or a giant carp. Smallmouth are incredible!

Find a local club to join. In most cases you only need to be 16 to fish tournaments. I'm pretty sure you can fish BFLs when your 16 too, but I'm not positive.

It might not be glamerous but at least it will keep things interesting. Like others said, it will be a game of ounces. If they were going to do a PA fishery, it's a shame that they couldn't have it on the susky, they'd have bags in the 17-20lb range instead of under 5lbs lol.

I've used them and the quality isn't there IMO. They appear sharp out of the package but they dull very quickly. They also have a tendency to rust and they bend easily. Like RW said, don't skimp on hooks.

They only way that I've seen this done is by cutting off the buttcap, inserting and epoxying an apropriate diameter dowel rod about inch inside the blank, then reem cork rings to fit the dowel rod and epoxy them on, then re-epoxy the butt cap. This is a pain to do and it can be hit or miss. Why do you want to extend the grip anyway?

No pics, the fish were solid keepers but not huge and I usually don't take pics of smallmouth unless they're over 18"

I was out on the river a bit yesterday and the fishing was tough, but the smallmouth that I did find were agressive. I only landed 5 keepers on spinnerbaits but when they hit it, they knocked the out of it! Fishing wise, that was one of the worse days I've had on the river in a long time, but their anger more than made up for it! All of the fish had bulging stomachs so they're starting to feed heavily right now. My fishing partner caught one that was under 14" but weighed over 2lbs on the scale! I love smallmouth

I think part of the reason is that, with senkos, you often have to wade through a pile of small fish to get decent ones. Obviously senkos catch big fish (look at BASSMASTERs big bass club, half of those are senko fish) but I think pros find it easier to target larger size classes with other lures/techniques.

I'm against whale hunting, but this is insane. If I were a whaler, one of those "pirates" would be taking a harpoon to the kneecaps lol
