  1. I love fireline, works great around the weeds and i have never had a fish snap my line with it. While using the yozuri you recomend i had two small fish snap my line right next to the boat. One went under the boat and could have cut the line on something, but on the next fish i was reeling it in it was ten feet from the boat when it decided to give a tug on my line and it snapped like nothing, i took the line of every one of my reels after that and put my fireline back on. and you say its not abrassion resistent but i have problems cutting it except with a superline cutter. Your line may work around rocks and in open water, but if the fish have a place to dive and get stuck you aren't getting it back out with yozuri US. Just my opinion and i was using 8# for yozuri on a spinning reel and can cast 20# fireline easy with the same reel and don't need any conditioner
  2. This lure looks really nice but i haven't been able to use it yet. The perch pattern i ordered looks really good and the lip seems very small. If you wanted you could probably cut it out pretty easy
  3. loads fine for me with opera
  4. try fireline- Very very strong very thin and casts great, i have heard good things about power pro to
  5. i believe the main problem with the kicktail was the quailty not so much the action. I too bought a set of them and used them for a little while and did catch one nice fish, read ONE. They do seem like they swim good- but a couple in the set didn't swim at all. I think the difference is going to be the quality and the time put into researching what the fish want to eat as opposed to what the fisherman wants to hear.
  6. I hate just about all the storm swimbaits, but if you have alot of small pike the ones that look like pike have a bigger tail and more action. They are the only ones i think are decent

The giron has a lot of action and can be worked either fast or slow and it is a pretty light swimbait. I have only used it a couple times and didn't catch anything on it. They just put out some new colors at icast to
  8. just ordered one a couple days ago ill let you know what i think
  9. I have already been throwing the mattlures on one of my rods but i want one that is a little heavier for my homemade ones and for muskie fishing plus i want to get into some of the bigger swimbaits
  10. I am thinking of getting a diawa heartland rod the heavy action rated for 1/2 to 6 oz lures to throw some mattlures swimbaits and maybe some 5-8 in hardbaits (when i get money agian) along with some of my other heavier lures. I will also want to use this as my musky setup. Will this rod work for what i need? And what would be a good reel in the 75-145 range? i would really like to try a revo but would a sx be a good reel for this rod? i know the curado 300's are supposed to be good but they are a little more than i can afford right now

Ya i did the photo pretty quick because i wanted to get it done before i left so i could use it. What is the best to use for foil? Foil tape?

Here are three swimbaits i had made a little while ago. The one on the bottom is a giron so you can see the size of the others. The two small ones wake really good on the top when realed in slowly, but will dive a foot or two down at a moderate to fast retrive. The bigger one on top swims amazingly a very slow almost suspending drop perfectly horizontal. It has a wide s action and i can reel it in at any speed and it still has great action. I just need to paint the joints all green instead of half yellow because it looks wierd. It could also use some eyes like on the small ones but i didn't have time before i left for a fishing trip.
  13. i don't think it would be a problem but you might wanna try fireline instead because the leaders kink which can hurt the action
  14. you will be able to throw the jackall if you can throw the baby bass (i have both) the jackall has great action, but i might have to try this one t-rig suggested.

I will be going fishing for a week here pretty soon and had a couple questions about throwing swimbaits. When are the best times to use swimbaits? Where to use them? What type of cover? Overcast or clear sky? I want to know when its best to throw these so i have a better chance of getting the big fish and then i can throw my normal arsenal while its not as good to throw swimbaits. Right now i have 2 mattlures baby bass, one small bulldawg, some shadalicous, some saltwater berkley swimshads (5") and a couple homemade hard swimbaits.
  16. ok well im gonna save up for a swimbait rod but i can't wait to try these out when they get here so im gonna have to use the rod i have for a little while because i leave to go fishing on wed
  17. "Hard lure [ch8212] Mystic Tackleworks BioPulse Lure" Guess where that came from- ICAST Best of Show also doesn't look as bad when it has a decent paint job on it http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/fishing/news/story?id=3494459 Wow i might have to be the first to buy it
  18. well if you feel like getting ride of those orginal bluegills i might be able to help ;D
  19. depends on how good you are and how good you want the baits to look, i used the cheapbottles of paint for some of my one lures and they came out good enough for me. if you paint models you could probably do good and use the same stuff, else an airbrush gives a really nice look if you good at it. And make sure to seal over the paint to
  20. hey mattlures i just ordered a couple of your baby bass lures will i be able to throw them with a MH flippin stick (i think) rated for like 1.5 oz? i not worried about landing the fish with it because the biggest bass i would have a chance at getting would be like 7lbs i have landed 5lbers with very cheap M spinner gear and this seems to be a much nicer rod
  21. im pretty sure this is a cheaper place to get them the 6" is 10.99 and 8" is 14.99 http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0018175117776a&navCount=1&podId=0018175&parentId=cat601348&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat20166-cat601348&catalogCode=2UG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601348&hasJS=true
  22. Thank you so much it would be much appreciated. i'm guessing it might be two weeks before i would go there (its a little drive) i know they have had those type of buckets but im not sure about the jerk shads
  23. -ebby- replied to Jigger1's topic in Other Fish Species
if they are small i would not fillet them i would scale them instead- you get alot more meat

  25. i have seen that shaped jar on shelves to but i don't think they where the jerk shads
