  1. i would go to those holes and patches of weeds to start out

i've heard the white spinnerbait was the way to go
  3. i would say that rod would be fine, i don't know of any reading but start trolling or casting with some spinnerbaits or crankbaits around weeds, then maybe try a little deeper if you are just catching small ones. i catch tons of small one while fishing bass in my lake on anything that is bright fast or flashy
  4. i like slowing working a scum frog over thick weeds
  5. ok thanks im gonna see if i can pick one up at the store this saturday before i leave on sun 8-)
  6. i wouldn't call a fluke a swimbait, but for a 3.5 in swimbait im guessing you should use a 4/0 hook and having the wieghted one would probably help
  7. has anyone used this reel? i need a new spinning reel and this looks pretty good i was thinking either a 300 series or a 500 series any suggestions? any other good reels in the $30-$50 range?
  8. when i use scum frogs i try to make it look as natural as possible, i like to twitch it on the edge of the weeds or one of the pockets. I like keeping it in one spot for a while and just twitch it a couple times to make some small ripples. I also have my best luck on a hot calm day midafternoon. I am no help on jigs though
  9. I have been making some lures and would like to purchase an airbrush, I won't use it a ton but would like to get a decent airbrush and then run it off of the compressed air bottles from the hobby store. will this work? Any suggestions on a good airbrush for around $40? Or if anyone knows of a compressor i could use with it that isn't going to cost to much.
  10. my state's dnr website has pretty decent maps of most lakes, so try your dnr website. If not that try google earth and print a pic of your lake. You can see where weeds and sandbars are wich is nice.
  11. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0051521123076a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=berkely+shad&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=berkely+shad&noImage=0 That is the one they are using- they also had a gulp one but i don't know where to find that one
  12. I have had a lot of luck on a 7in powerworm on a regular jighead, you may want to try this to start because it is very easy to fish
  13. i use the scumfrog with two groups of strands for legs, not sure what it is called
  14. zoom trick worm- like four bucks for twenty i think and can be used other ways to
  15. i usually use the all green original scumfrog but if not that just pick a natural colored one
  16. I would first check your dnr website, mine has a couple maps for most lakes. If not that you could try using google earth, you would be surprized at what you can see, it won't give you the depth everywhere but can sometime help pick out good structure you wouldn't have seen otherwise. Both are free to
  17. i guess if you can convince them its just one lure it would be legal
  18. If any store would get more it would be this one.
  19. Its a bit of a drive to that store and i probably won't be back there for a while but i think that store has a good chance of getting more, how much do those sell for on ebay? i might have to buy them out next time i go there and sell them right away
  20. not if the dnr in mn sees you using it. Unless they make it legal like they are thinking about.
  21. dang i probably should have bought both of them then!
  22. thank you! i thought that might be what they were for, have you used this swimbait? is it any good? i have never seen or heard of it before and couldn't pass it up
  23. I just bought this berkley pro classic swimbait that i have never seen or heard of it looks really nice but i haven't used it yet. The problem is it is from japan i think and i can't read any of the package. Usually not a problem but this came with about four clear soft plastic sticks and i don't know what they are for! if anyone has used these or knows about them could you help? or if someone could translate the little sticker pointing to them that would be a big help to! it is a very nice swimbait and was a good deal and i don't have my camera right now so i can't put up any pics until tomorrow.
  24. Just so you know i to bought the kicktails and have to say i have caught one fish on them it was i nice one tho so i keep one in my tackle box
