  1. Anyone have back issues of Bassmaster or Bass Times? There was an article in there about running sonar in shallow water. It was how to set it up to work at the really shallow depths etc. KVD said he runs his all the time. Just might be something in that article to help us out in this matter.
  2. Don't force the bait threw the cover let it work threw the cover. Good point on the rod thing will
  3. Barametric pressure, If there was lightning the night before, water clarity , Sky conditions, wind, water temp. All these variables add up to make fishing conditions tough after a cold front.
  4. I used to not fish with one in my local lake that i know very well. I fish with it on now and it doesnt seem to make a difference. I have learned no matter how well you think you know a place there is always more to learn about it. The benefits outweigh to negitives to fishing with it on. Possibly in shallow water situations you might want to shut it off or sight fishing. But i see no reason to
  5. A friend tells the story of the time he was getting beat out of the back of the boat. He was fishing the exact same bait (he gave it to his partner) throwing to the same spots just wasnt getting bit. He later realized that the guy in the back of the boat wasmaking all kinds of splash when the bait hit. He wasn't. This is the only time i have ever herd a story like this. I think it is ok to make a splash when you are making long casts and not to a specific target. If you are in tight quarters or are casting to targets the lighter the entry the better. Fish a clear water lake some time and watch what a fish does when something crashes in from above really close they dont like it.

Is the water clear? In the low light hours the bass are up on the flat feeding. In the high sun hours they will pull off the flat onto cover they can find on that drop off or will use the edge and suspend. Pull out and paralell the ledge with a crankbait. This spot could be a spawning flat pay attention it on the next full moon there quite possibly be some nice ones sitting there all day.
  7. Dodgeguy is right. Lets look at the tittle of your post Force feed. Thats the rut all bassfishermen hit at one time or another. We all try to make the fish bite what we want them to bite. When in all honesty we should be fishing what they want to bite. This is why there are basspros that do this for a living because they have learned threw years of experience to know when to holdem and when to foldem. Heck even Brauer has been seen crankin. Also maybe they wasnt on the bank and were sitting on the ledge approximantly where your boat was sitting. Just a thought
  8. Yes color makes a difference when fishing deep. match the forage, light level and water color.
  9. Sounds to me like your fishing under the fish with a majority of those plastics.
  10. With the eye color on them 2 bass being 2 different colors one is dead. I always thought bucks bad brown eyes and females had black but that theory was thrown out thursday when i caught a 3 lb fish full of eggs with brown eyes.
  11. Straight Flurocarbon. The less stretch helps with the depth the bait will reach, and will allow you to feel the bait better. I use a soft glass cranking rod (not made any more) and a 7'6 ML graphit rod for cranking. I won't go back to mono unless I have to fish with graphite cranking rods that don't have the slow taper
  12. I fish the best river of them all the Mighty Mississippi. But right now its fishing like a muddy over flowing glass of water with no fish in it. Biggest similarities between a river and a lake is grass. you find grass with any water in it you generaly find bass. I fish the river in 3 different phases they coralate with the seasons. Spring and late fall I look for deep water out of the current. From post spawn to late fall I target current. The some pools fish better in high water. Some I prefer the Lower the better. I could write all day on locations for what time and when but the way I been going this week I couldnt find water if I fell out of the boat.
  13. Shad will chase Spinnerbaits. This has occured to me on more then one ocassion in ultra clear water. It generally happens when the shad are spawning. They think your bait is a Target of great oppertunity. With that being said on both ocassions when I got in an area where they were not chasing the bait I got bit either flipping or on the spinnerbait. When it Happend this spring it was early in the morning never got bit till we got away from it. Later in the afternoon we watch boats smoke the bass along that bank I know that wasnt to helpful
  14. Id say there are bass in 95% if not more rivers in the United states. Its just a matter of finding where they like to live. Plus getting permission fom the land owners to fish that section or launch a boat or canoe. Generally most rivers empty in or are fed from a lake or another river.
  15. www.ilbassfed.com/ Plenty of clubs in that area
  16. Atleast you had the chance to live it.
  17. I see great minds think alike
  18. Did you have any lines in these movies or was you an extra? im sure id rember that mug
  19. Jess If I had 5,000 and was wanting to buy a used boat id look into a used aluminum boat. They are proabally a better buy then a glass boat. Glass boats in that price range have high hours on the engines and alot of them have seen alot of time ran wide open. JMO
  20. Great Stories guys keep them coming
  21. Depends if its just the males up then they might disappear. If the females are up and locked on tight then its 50/50
  22. Dont need a vote. Our tournament committiee deemed pool 10 unfishable last year and swaped to a different Lake for Safety reasons every one threw a fit. Bad thing is the pool was closed and no wake 2 days before the tournament Either way he will have people complain. Your comittiee (people who choose Tournament sites and dates) should have known when making the schedule conditions quite possibly would be less then desireable. This is when this should have been adressed. If its not a safety issue dont worry about it.
  23. Hahahaha Btw Them are called Tiller Motors keep them coming guys
  24. I know most if not all of you Serious anglers have fallen out of the boat a time or 2 whats your funniest stories? Mine is Dad told me to flip a stump when i turned to flip he hit the Trolling motor on High the other way. I fell in go under come back up he said wheres your rod. I caught it between my leggs and he took it and went back fishing. He didnt help me back in for about 3 casts.
  25. I slide my rod in alot. I hate breaking off in a pile them come back and get caught in my own line. I feel it spooks the fish less. Plus no sense tearing up some ones boat for my little Jig. I use alot of baits i cant go to the local store and but as well. So if its sliding the rod for that bait ill do it.
