Lake Classification
I've read a book by infisherman covering the different classications. Since the lake is filled in ultimately through sedimentation, the upper ends of the lake should fill in first creating two different situations on different parts of the lake. Right? Also by looking at a map, how would we me able to tell which stage the lake in that area is in? Mottfia

Giant Bass II

Today must be weather day. A question on fronts.
From what I hear Tin is right. Yall ahve so many cold fronts that the fish are only affected for a short period of time or not affected at all. If you were in the south then you would see a number of things depending on how mush the pressure changes but from the experiences that I have the fish will be tough for the day after the front but with the new front coming they are going to have to feed up hard, which they will do right before the front reaches us. The best way to reason this is that the fish here this time of year are feeding hard to recover from sqawning and to deal with their rising metabolism. We also have the shad and bluegill sqawn this time of year, so the fish can't afford not to feed up while they need it and its easy to get. Mottfia

Fishing from the back of the boat
hmm...that can be a sensitive issue. I have to agree with spotaholic on the fact that it is his boat so he should have the main say. And I don't believe that because he thinks like that mean that he would not be fun to fish with. It just depends on how the back of the boat guy thinks. Here are a few I have had a number of partners in my day. Most of them were with me being the back of the boat guy in a learning position. If you are new to the sport, you should just sit back and take it like a class. Ask questions, observe, and don't worry about catching fish. If your fishing a buddy tournament then you should do whats best for the team. If you aren't catching fish but your partner is, no big deal cause yall are doing well. Its a team thing. If your partner gets frustrated about something and isn't performing well, then you have the right to ask him to take a minute to focus his thoughts while he recoups. Remember its all for the good of the team. If everything is going good but he is catching all the fish then mix it up. My dad loves to throw a spinnerbait so in order to catch fish not aggressive enough for the blade I throw a jig. Horizontal versus vertical. You may not catch as many but you can feel confident in fishing for fish that he may miss. Now if you are fun fishing and yall are cool with each other, I say take turns with the front of the boat. I'm the lead man when the guys go to the river. My buddies are always looking to prove themselves and learn more about boat control so if they ask or if I feel like just chilling I let them take over. The secret to all this is to have an understanding with your partner. Its a relationship that needs to be worked on so that boht of yall perform well together. Mottfia

how important is the internet to you as a fishing resource
As a learning tool it is unbeatable when combined with time on the water. At First I can say that I spent most of the time pretty confused about different concepts such as migration routes and seasonal patterns but once you are able to get out there, catch a few, and start to think about what you've read here it starts to come together on paper. I can say without a doubt that this site makes you a much more analytical thinker. 8-) Mottfia

Biggest Tournament Payout
$1500 twice. We don't have large tournaments (50- 70 boats in major tournaments) but the payout is pretty good in my opinion. Mottfia

Heavy Pressure Question
I agree with grimlin on this one. There are only two things that the fish would do..barring getting too technical. 1) Pull close to cover and have a reduced strike zone. 2) move to an area adjacent to the area that is getting pounded. That could be slightly deeper or shallower on teh point or the bank, channel, hump, etc adjacent to the point. Mottfia

What are your fishing STRENGTHS?
Coming from the river, I've developed a lot of confidence in fishing Spinnerbaits and jigs in a number of ways. I excel at fishing at a fast pace and can maintain a high amount of casting accuracy throughout the day. I have also been improving at developing patterns consistently, thanks to some great mentors and the guys here at BR ;D Mottfia

Super, giant, jumbo plastic worm like 2 1/2 feet long?
haha ok so I don't remember the name of them bu they are a sort of curl tail worm that is definately 20" (at least). I saw them at a boat show in birmingham a few months back. They have some that are multiple colors, each half one color like culprit does. If anyone has been crazy enough to try one let me know Mottfia

Lizards help please.
with all these guys posting in on the lizard you can see that its a pretty hot thing. I'm also down with it. a texas rig pumkinseed char. 6in lizard is a great flipping bait. I like the heavier size of things so I go for a 3.8oz I've also experimented with c-rigs last year and had good success from a 4in lizard (spotted bass) all the way to 10in lizard (guntersville). everyone should learn it A lizard is just a great year round bait. definately pick one up one day Mottfia

would this count?????
I'm not sure about world record rules but on the local level there is no rule against weighing a fish that has been hooked outside the mouth. Mottfia

Landing a fish: Fast or Slow
Small fish come in as fast as I can get em in. As the fish get bigger, I take more time with them but as soon as I see the chance to get them in the boat they are coming in. Mottfia

Pre-spawn Spawn
NH_Bass_Tard We have plenty of silted in creeks here on the Alabama River but cover can play the roll as a breakline. In alot of places around here the edge of stump fields act as a breakline. Another good example would be a laydown that covers depths down to 5 ft or more. Fish will stage on this places as they move back into the creeks to spawn. The good things about fishing a silted in creek that has a good number of bass in it is that when you find that staging area, it will replenish through out the day. Mottfia

When to Flip and when to Pitch and what's the difference
A big plus of flipping is that it allows you to put your lure in some trashy think places that a cast wouldn't go through. Think of fishing buck brush. That mess can get ugly when you try to pitch or god forbid cast into it. Pitching is the used much more and is a must learn technique. Like Catt said it allows you fish farther from the cover or if you are is Catt's position, structure. Mottfia
