  1. I havent been in the local DSG since Sportsmans Warehouse opened up.....I might have to stop by to see what all the fuss is about.
  2. I'm not a Shimano fan so I would recommend the Supreme. I own several of the Supreme's MG's and they have been great so far.
  3. Tokyo Tony has made a real good point. I am guilty of not being able to separate the two no matter what I do. When I hit the lake I'm running from one spot to another, checking this, graphing that, etc....even if I only get a few hours out, I'm fishing it like a tournament and I'm trying to catch as many keepers as possible. "Fun fishing" just doesnt happen for me anymore. I expect myself to catch a few fish every time out, even if its only a 2 hour trip. I am hard on myself when it comes to catching fish. I wish I wasn't.
  4. Are the Ardent reels as heavy as some people say they are? I have been wanting to see one in person too.
  5. Selling oil. Legalized racketeering. Just like insurance....you gotta have it.
  6. You got that right....especially when throwing the high dollar cranks. My lure retriever paid for itself after the 3rd or 4th save.
  7. You bet. I'll have one ready for you.
  8. RW, there are people on here that value your opinion, we all know that. I know why you posted this though. The way I see it is that pounding your chest about your favorite brand is fine. Bashing a certain brand when you havent tried that brand is not. When someone asks about a Shimano, I dont hijack and say this and that about Shimano even though I could.....I've owned good and bad Shimano's in the past. When people are asking about a specific brand of reel or rod, one would think they are wanting reviews or opinions of people that have actually used or are owners of that specific product.....thats just my take. Is that wrong? Now, in a thread asking "whats the best reel for $150 bucks?" .....then its a free-for-all....thats when the person wants to hear from owner's of all the different brands. When it comes to reviews or opinions on a reel or rod, I try to live by the 'ol "dont knock it until you've tried it" rule. It's worked out pretty good so far.
  9. Quit trying to cheat fluke.....you can only have 5 baits, one of those has to go... ;D
  10. I used the Trilene Fluorocarbon the last part of this year. I really like it so far. I had one reel with 12#, one with 10# and one with 8#. I was skeptical about carbon on a spinning reel but the 8# performed well. I'll continue to buy and use it, I see no reason to change.
  11. Pflueger Supreme MG. They are definitely worth a look.
  12. No but I think if they see or hear of enough interest it would be something for them to seriously consider. We could start a petition. ;D
  13. Rod: Kistler Helium LTA 7' MH Reel: Revo Premier Line: 14 Trilene Fluorocarbon 5 baits: - *** 5" *** (watermelon red) - Jewel Football Jig 1/2 oz. (pb&j) - Berkley Power Bait Shaky Worm 7" (green pumpkin) - Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver (XMAS Pumpkin) - #7 Shad Rap (chrome/black) ...normally wouldnt crank with that rod or reel or line but I dont go ANYWHERE without a crankbait so....
  14. Here's my 2 pennies worth. Too fast of a reel for cranks in my opinion. I'm waiting on Abu to kick out a Revo in the 5.?:1 range..... I use my SX's on a jerkbait rod and one of my worm rods. Do I like the SX better than the STX? No, for some reason it seems that the STX doesnt need near as much adjusting when changing from larger to smaller baits.
  15. G Loomis Shaky Head rod (SHR822) with a Pflueger Supreme 8030MG hanging off of it spooled with 8# Trilene Fluorocarbon. Spare spool is spooled with same brand 6#.
  16. I still use a glass rod for deep crankin'.....the soft action and forgiving tip keeps fish hooked up better in my opinion and you need all the help you can get reeling the big'uns in from deep water. For shallow and mid depth crankin', I use graphite but I use ML actions. They are soft enough. Does Quantum even sell a glass rod anymore? I'm not a Quantum fan, never will be and I dont know what they sell but if they dont carry glass or composite rods, that's the reason 'ol Bill Dance dont like 'em anymore. He's surely not going to promote a product that his sponsor doesnt even sell.
  17. OUCH! That was an expensive cast! I like the DeepX-200's as well, right when the fish move into summer.
  18. I hear that. If you dont have video evidence....it wasn't me.
  19. Clarification: In an actual "points tournament" (club or trail) I weigh everything. In the pot tournaments (no points, just money) I wont weigh unless I have enough to get in the money.
  20. Welcome back! And Merry Christmas!
  21. I'll have to admit that I sometimes wont weigh if I'm not going to be in the money. I know about what I've got in the bag and if it's not close, I dont waste anyone's time and there's no use carrying the fish around in the bag and all that if I know weighing wont make a difference.....I just put them back asap. But in a night tournament, I always weigh in. There's something about being in the dark that takes away my ability to estimate weight. For some reason I'm usually at least a couple of pounds off.
  22. Just announced, the Big Tuna is taking over the Miami Dolphins football operations. The Falcons all but had him locked in to going to Atlanta and the Dolphins pulled the rug out from under them. Man, its been a tough year for the Falcons.... I expect Parcells to "clean house" in Miami pretty quick.
  23. Okay, I see. I thought you were talking strictly about bass. (LM and SM)
  24. RW, thanks for jumping in. I'm curious about these 100 lb + days.....how many fish would you estimate that you guys catch during one of those days?
