Fair comparisons? An Abu Garcia thread.
For $200 more dollars, it should out-perform.

Favorite shakey head worms?
Berkley Power Bait Shaky Worms on a Spot Remover head. That worm has put a whole bunch of fish in the boat this year. I have also been using the Gambler Giggy Stick a little bit lately.....the last 75% of the worm is hollow which helps it to float up off the bottom no matter what head you use. Plus it has the tassel tail which gives the fish a little something different to look at. They just came out with a bigger version of the Giggy Stick but I cant remember what its called....it should be a killer as well.

WEC crankbaits
I really like the E1's around cover. Probably the best shallow cover cranks I own. They are without a doubt the most expensive. I've been lucky with the ones I've bought so far, I havent had any bill issues.

Big time mistake..........stupid stupid stupid
Want a challenge tying a Palomar knot? Try doing it with only one hand. I saw one of the pros do it and it took me about 2 weeks to get the hang of it.

The death of sportsmanship??? ( not too long)
My point exactly. He saw "what BASS could be" and did everything he could to make sure he got on that ride with BASS and win alot of money in the process.(OH SON!!!) ;D The rules that are in place now for today's pro's would have leveled the playing field back then, Roland was just a little smarter than everyone else. Once everyone caught on to what 'ol Roland was doing, they started making rules to prevent him from doing those things anymore.......and some of those rules are still in effect today.

The death of sportsmanship??? ( not too long)
Somehow that doesnt sound right. :-? Exactly, I think he saw where BASS could go down the road and he obviously took advantage of a few things "for lack of ruling" to get his name solidified as one of the top guys as BASS grew. He was the poster boy for a long time.....because he was winning tournaments.....did he cheat to win those tournaments? Its kind of like Barry Bonds. He supposedly took steroids when they were legal in MLB......but it wasnt that they were legal at the time, they just werent testing for steroid use when he used them.

The death of sportsmanship??? ( not too long)
I think Roland Martin is a good fisherman and all that but back when he was coming up, BASS had just gotten started and there were minimal rules on what could be and could not be done in preparations for a tournament. He took advantage of the lack of rules. It sure did help his career.

Now this is sexy....
How many do you need? I have a bunch of 'em laying around....

Skunk, maybe its my nerves????????
Relax. Dont start stressing out until there's 3 hours to go and you dont have any fish. I had bigger problems when I first started.....if I didnt have 5 to weigh, I felt like I failed. It was all about getting that limit. And dont get me wrong, it still is but these days I'm not nearly as hard on myself as I was back then. I learned to relax....but I dont like losing. You have to balance it out the best you can.

The death of sportsmanship??? ( not too long)
Good 'ol Roland Martin.....there are many stories about all the different things he did prior to tournaments. I cant say how true they are cause I wasnt there to witness any of it but there are several people who came forward and told their stories. Interesting stuff. :-?

What bait do you think takes most skill to fish?
I got to agree with string on this one. Deep crankin' takes alot to learn and takes a while to build confidence. Bumping a stump with a crank in 20' of water isnt the easiest thing to do. Or threading a deep crank thru standing timber without getting hung takes way more than just chuckin' and winding. I had to commit to learning it because crankin' deep effectively takes a whole lot of confidence and back then, I just didnt have confidence doing it. I'd throw it 15-20 times and if I didnt get bit, I never threw it the rest of the day. Now I throw a deep crank on just about every trip at some point and time. And its my favorite way to catch 'em.....by far.

New PB @ Pocahontas State park! guess the weight!
I'd say a little over 6, possibly 6 1/2. Nice fish by the way!

Patriots vs Cowboys 3:15 CST Sunday
The Patriots look unstoppable..... and they flat out LAID THE SMACKDOWN on the Cowgirls! They did whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted.....Cowgirls didnt tackle well, couldnt guard the receivers, minimal pressure on Brady, lots of penalties etc.... Patriots and Colts play Nov. 4th

Ok here are the choices
Looks like you've got the motor choices narrowed down nicely! If it was my money, I'd probably buy the Skeeter. I like the way they fish, and they have a pretty good ride too. I hear good things about Bass Cat service but I just dont like their boats.....just something about them. The Champs are definitely nice boats but like someone said above, they are heavy. Have you looked at any Gamblers? The lifetime hull warranty says alot. Plus they are all composite and fiberglass, no wood to rot, no soft spots in the floors, trim tabs, large storage compartments, biggest deck you can find and very fast. I owned Rangers, Skeeter, Tracker and once I drove a Gambler I never looked back.(actually once I sat in one it was over.....it was like sitting in a Corvette) I plan to buy a new one in the next few months.

Disheartening
Good post muddy. We dont like to edit and delete posts or send pm's when someone is rocking the boat but we have to. We have to keep the ship from tipping over. Some people get offended when we edit their posts, some dont. We cant discriminate on who we edit/delete/ban. But its nothing personal, really.

Sportsman's Warehouse
Dude.....IMX's for $129? How many did they have? I need a couple.... Sounds like SW will at least be worth walking into.....due to open in mid November, about a week before we get our Christmas Club money! Looks like the whole family might be getting fishing gear! Hopefully Grandma will like her new rod and reel combo!

I just got in from the lake and LBH has a great thread going.....I hope everyone can take the time to read the other posts and reply with your own thoughts as well. Getting input from alot of members, especially on a topic like this will only help make things better for all of us. I would like to see things go back to the way they were a couple of years ago.....laid back, just chewin' the fat about bass fishin'.
