Controlling lure depth
A traditional crankbait (with a bill) will control depth for you. Just pick one that will dive to the desired strike zone. Generally I have better luck with lipless cranks in 6 ft or less.

John Crews wins on the Delta
John Crews edged out Skeet Reese by 1 oz to win the Elite event on the Delta. Greg Hackney led going into the final day but failed to bring in a limit and lost by a little over 2 lbs. Stephen Browning led Day 1 and 2 and seemed like he was on a roll and the guy to beat. After weighing in 20+ pounds on each of the first 2 days, he brought 1 fish to the scales on Day 3 that weighed 13 ozs. That was the difference maker....he couldn't recover and ended up 4th or 5th.

MinnKota or Motorguide ?
MK vs MG is like Chevy vs Ford. I've owned both several times each. Last year my MG 109 leaked water and burned up the lower unit. I didnt have time to wait on MG to send the new lower unit so I bought a MK Maxxum 101 (There were no 36Volt MG's close by) and slapped it on the boat. I absolutely hated that thing. You had to constantly stay on the pedal or the lower unit would just spin all the way around whichever direction it wanted to if you took your foot off. So when you hit the trolling motor again to move, you had to readjust the pedal because of it spinning around....plus the pedal operation was totally backwards of my MG's. That never happened with any MG I ever owned. I will say that MK's are a little more 'stealth/ninja like' than the MG's but if I had to pick, it would be a MG any day of the week.

My boat
You need at least an 8' wide door and from prop to tongue tip you'll need about 26'. A swing tongue will take off about 2', so 24' minimum on the length.

My boat
Thanks fellas. I'm happy with it so far. Not real happy with the maroon/burgundy/whatever color carpet but that can be changed. Burley, dont worry man, you and I will be on PAVED ramps/parking lots in the future.

My boat
Finally got around to taking some decent pictures. I had planned to go boatless this year and just lay back and save some money but I ran across what I considered a good deal and couldn't resist....so here it is. 01 Gambler 2100 / Merc 250XB / Motorguide Tour 109

The Strike, The Hook Set, or the Fight?
I'm confused by this. How do you get a good hookset if the fish whiffs? If the fish misses, the hookset will miss too. I know I hate laying the steel on nothing..... I love them all and what I am saying you don't get to enjoy the other 2 without the strike. Therefore I think the STRIKE is the most important. Kelley Kelly, my post wasnt questioning your reasoning....in fact, on the first or 2nd page I replied that I'm a 'strike' guy myself.

Seat height on some new bass boats?
I don't know how you drive that thing. 1. Hold steering wheel real tight 2. Mash gas pedal

Difference between florocarbon lines?
I mainly use Trilene 100% on my casting rods but on anything 10# and under (my spinning stuff) I use Sunline Super Sniper fluorocarbon. I'd use it on my casting reels too but I cant afford it. It's expensive but its the best fluorocarbon you can buy in my opinion.
