Powell vs. Kistler Magnesium
five.bass.limit Your post are always very informative and I really enjoy reading them. If you have an extra minute could I get you to elaborate on this opinion? I'm just speaking of Kistler in general, not just the Magnesiums. I've used Kistler's for 10+ years now and I feel they make an awesome product. They had a spell for a bit where they had some issues but at some point, all rod makers have had or will have some issues. Look at Dobyns, their 1st Generation rods were breaking like twigs. But they turned it around and are now making really good rods. Same thing with Kistler. They had some problems briefly a year or two ago, pinpointed the cause and got the train back on the track. All the while, taking care of the customers that had the issues and making things right with them. I've not dealt with Powell directly (like a warranty claim) but have fished some of their rods. I think they make a good rod but I wouldn't give up my Kistler's for them. Having fished both brands, I just feel like Kistler makes a better product overall. Plus, they're dealing with North Fork Composites now and even though they make a top shelf rod already, I expect an even better product in the near future.

If the guy catches and keeps those fish within the laws of his state, its his right to do so. Remember that. You dont have to agree with it, just remember it.

Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon
how far off do you think the Sunline Shooter Metan Green Fluorocarbon is to sniper ??? I havent used the Green Metan Sunline so I cant say. I suspect it would perform very well, judging by the price.

Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon
The Sunline Sniper is smaller in diameter than the Berkley 100% for starters. Sunline 10# is the same diameter as Berkley 6#. I suspect this is why the Sniper performs so well. It has great knot strength (Burley made a good point about fluorocarbon knots earlier) The smaller diameter Sniper exceeds it's test rating. The only difference other than diameter is the type of resin they use to make the lines. I cant say for sure because I dont know the types they use but after using both, it's my opinion that Sunline uses a better resin blend, making the line thinner, stronger and in the abrasion resistance department, I'd call it a wash. Both are very good against abrasions. All in all, both are great lines. One just happens to be thicker than the other and the thicker is a little less manageable on a spinning reel. The Sniper excels on spinning gear.

Game Plan/Confidence are Key
This is spot on. It's happened to me in the past, and in fact, not that long ago. I try to have my plan together as much as I can before the tournament but I will go away from it if that bite doesnt materialize quickly. It's a bad habit because most of the time I put in a good amount of practice and to just abandon it so quick is a big mistake. I'm working on this very thing right now. It's definitely a challenge when you're fishing against the clock.

Show your ride...
If I had not run across my Gambler when I did, I was only a day or two away from buying a Skeeter with that same color scheme and a 250 Hammer on the back. Love those colors. Nice ride man.

Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon
The KVD Line and Lure conditioner definitely helps any fluorocarbon that I've ever used it on. In my opinion, Sunline Super Sniper is the absolute best fluorocarbon line made but even that gets a little 'stiff' once you get to the 12# and up.

Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon
I've used the 100% since it came out and have no complaints. I use the 15, 17 and 20 the most and it's been very good line in all aspects. I do however use a different brand fluorocarbon on my spinning gear.

Bristol
The spring race Bristol tickets were never all THAT hard to get. Its the summer night race that was the tough ticket. May not be that way now but it was 6 or 7 years ago. I cant watch NASCAR anymore. Dale's death marked the end of the sport for me.

How to Set the hook on a Spinnerbait?
As with any single hook lure....I set the hook like I'm mad at 'em and give NO SLACK at all. I keep the rod low unless I have to maneuver the fish out or around something. If there's nothing in the way I keep it as low as possible.

What to throw next?
Jackall Flick Shake worm on a wacky jighead. Let it hit the bottom and shake that sucker like there's no tomorrow. Either that or a senko. The senko is probably the most dependable 'follow up' bait I've ever used. The Flick Shake worm is coming on strong though.
