  1. I would try to contact PP to see what they may do for you. From reading on this forum about how other major tackle companies have taken care of their customers, they may throw a free spool or something your way. If you don't tell them, they'll never know. Anything mass produced will have an issue now and then.
  2. A have a Triumph and an Avid. The Triumph was my first St. Croix. It's a great stick for the $$, and the five year warranty is a nice little kicker.
  3. Awesome looking spot you got there. Keep that one under your hat, or take your buddies there drugged and blindfolded To anyone else that 'wishes' they had a spot like that, you probably do and just don't know about it. There's places similar to that here in overpopulated New Jersey. Just get off the beaten path, have plenty of bug spray and be willing to bust through a little brush. It's worth the effort, as that's where the biggun's are.
  4. My trusty stick of dynamite. Hasn't let me down yet :
  5. Flooger! You Da Man Reel Mech Back to the subject, I'm not a fan of the quckfires either for the same reasons already mentioned here.
  6. x2! I love my Supreme! Excellent price and weight and a very sturdy, smooth reel. Haven't had it for THAT long though, so I can't tell you about its durability too much... Same here, this is my first season with my Supreme. So far I'm happy with it. My other Pflueger, the Trion, is on it's second year humming along smoothly.
  7. That is a slob for sure. Let that be a lesson to the cable and broomstick crowd. It CAN be done. I love it when huge fish are taken on light gear.

Yeah, there is. Leaving the store with a basket full and NOT getting what you originally went in for. Which means a second trip back, and the vicious cycle begins again....
  9. If there is a hell, this guy has got VIP reservations for sure
  10. STOP. Right there. That's it. That's all you need right there.
  11. Yeah man, well put. A 14"- 15" slab on 4# test is a blast.
  12. Forget WD 40, Liquid Wrench, etc. This stuff is by far the best that there is. No BS. I'm a marine diesel mechanic, I've dealt with more than my fair share of rusty stuck fasteners. http://www.kanolabs.com/google/ I've used EVERY penetrating oil out there, this is the real deal. It aint cheap. You can't buy it in a store, you have to order it. Follow the directions. It only takes a little bit, you don't have to drench the stuck bolt. $6.00 a can is a bargain compared to the cost of engine parts.
  13. I have a bottle of this, it's worked good for me. http://www.prosoftbaitglue.com/ Here's one I've heard is supposed to be better. Can't give an opinion on it, have not used it. http://www.menditglue.com/

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........Crawfish I could eat them for hours......
  15. You may as well forget the big boys. They buy in such quanity, THEY tell YOU what they will pay per piece. I've never seen local or homegrown baits at these stores. You are better off trying to sell your baits through a local store. Even then, you may have to give a bunch away just to get a 'buzz' going, hopefully a positive one. Only then you have a shot at the store owner putting them on the shelves. Best of luck, just be realistic about it.
  16. I feel the same about crankbaits. Never had any luck with them, though I am determined to get bit this season. I'm convinced it's a confidence thing, I just need to get over the 'hump'. Back to the Senko style baits, it can be argued that it's the ultimate bait. It's a stick. You cannot rig it wrong. At times it gets bit just sitting there doing nothing. You can catch fish with pieces of one when your last one is shredded down to almost nothing. You can cut a five inch one in half and have two finesse baits if the situation calls for it. An infinite number of actions can coaxed out of it. What other bait can do all of this ? For me, the beauty is in the simplicity and versatility.

    I'm all thumbs.......
  18. Yeah, that's it. The same marketing strategy blue jean makers use. Sell beat up and ripped jeans for full price.
  19. The Trilene is fine. Consider 4# test, as you will gain a little casting distance compared to 6#. Don't be scared of it, you can haul in bigguns with 4#, that's what drag is for
  20. I'm a spinning guy, have been forever. Yeah, spinning gets a bad rap for line twist, not a big deal if you invest in a quality reel and good line. BC's backlash occasionally, nothing is 100% immune from line problems. As for the comment about spinning gear not having enough drag force - HUH ??? Earlier this season I foul hooked a huge brown carp on my ultra light rig - 4# mono. The drag on my reel was flawless, despite being spooled several times. I eventually landed him with no damage to the reel whatsoever. I've been fishing shallow weed filled lakes my whole life with spinning gear, as have thousands of others. Sure I've lost fish here and there, everyone has. Just go with what you like and go fishing.
  21. They are one tough reel fo sho.
  22. Do these pants make my bass look fat ?
  23. I'd be in, except that my top secret government job might have me out of the country at the time. Besides, I would beat everyone so badly that they would likely go home, sell their gear and take up miniature golf. I just couldn't have that on my conscience.
  24. If your buddy has a booger hanging out of his nose in plain sight, it's NOT OK to tell him about it. Same goes for toilet paper stuck to a shoe or hanging out of his pants. Let him find out the hard way.
  25. First, get rid of the 8# line. Too heavy for UL. Now about the rod. I have the 6' version of this, have fished it heavily for two years now without a problem. Decent rod for the price. I get good casting distance, although I think 6' 6" would have been a better choice. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_74068_100002002_100000000_100002000_100-2-2?ordProd=Y&CMID=TOP_selectitems#itemDetail
