  1. I got a nice one last Saturday night on a Heddon Torpedo, although to be honest with you I think I must have smacked her on the head with it because she immediately nailed it after about half a turn on the reel. This weekend with the hot weather coming in should improve the topwater game big time.
  2. I'm too old and too happily married to go chasing after those sweet young things any more. I'm kind of like a dog chasing a car: I don't know what I would do with one if I caught her anyway. If your too old to cut the mustard, lick the jar
  3. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh :'( I'm tellin' mom.
  4. It's all good. I wasn't offended the least bit. If you research my posts (Man, I hope you got something better to do !) you'll see I've taken quite a few shots at Jersey myself. I rafted the New and Gauley Rivers in WV. Absolutely some of the most stunning country I've seen. Great people, ate like a king, killer smallie fishing, what more could you want ?
  5. I just got home from Dick's, they had them. They must have just got them, they had quite a few. I checked them out (although I'm not looking for a rod now) and they seemed to be a decent stick for the price.
  6. Living in a coastal state, I have the best of both worlds. Many different species of freshwater fish, the shore 1.5 hours away for fishing and crabbing.
  7. Do they catch fish ? Don't sweat it. I've yet to have fish ask me how many rigs I have. I don't use BC. I own an old Shimano Bantam, have not used it in years. Maybe I'll get the itch one day. I own spinning reels by Pflueger, Shimano and Quantum.
  8. Winter time is complete teardown/ clean/ lube and coat of wax on the rods AND reels (yes, I wax the exterior of my reels). This usually takes me through the season, unless a rig gets dunked or I feel something is not right.
  9. 14' Alumnacraft jonboat. Gets me where I wanna be. Marlin fishing 100 miles offshore can be dicey at times. I manage. :
  10. I've caught exactly ONE trout in my entire life, and that was when I was fishing for bass. It was big as far as trout around here go, about 15"-16" long. Got him on a Johnson's Beetle Spin. I'm convinced it was a fluke. The bottom line is you will have a tough time getting trout on bass tackle. If it's trout you want, you'll have to downsize your gear. Maybe J Francho will see this, he knows a lot about trout. Or you could PM him.
  11. And here she is.........Miss WV !!!! http://www.fugly.com/media/IMAGES/Random/scary-fat-chick.jpg
  12. Only as a side dish of a meal that included clubbed baby seal and grilled bald eagle. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm
  13. Every t- shirt store on the Jersey shore boardwalks sell the same lame *** FBI shirt - 'Female Body Inspector' Yuk yuk, get it ? These two clowns probably vacationed there last summer.

Is it possible they were 'removing' them from a nest area, as they were in a protective rather than a feeding mode ?
  15. White has been gettin' it done for me.
  16. You think you got it bad ? These come with Eagle Claw hooks... http://www.macdaddysfishinglures.com/faq.shtml
  17. Hey Beavis, he said 'oral'........Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh...
  18. Scumbag, buckethead, loser - Names for those who leave their styrofoam worm containers on the ground, along with other trash. No offense to bait fishermen, just the ones who can't see the trash can 30 feet away. Fishwig - when you pull a fish out of the slop and it's face pokes through the salad that came with it. Looks like it has a wig on. Surface to air missile - A lure that that flies at your face at 100 MPH after being thrown by a fish or yanked from a snag. Skunkbait - anyone that shows up to fish with my brother in law after he's been fishing a while. He'll always swear he was "killin' em" until you got there ;D
  19. It all started here........... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ThYzWmCm_w
  20. I'm partial to cork myself. I just like the look and feel of it. Reel Mechanic - If you see this, I'd (we'd) be interested in a rod builders opinion on this. Anyone else that builds rods too.
  21. The President XT has the Supreme style handle, not the rosewood. If you can find one on Ebay or the fleamarket, a 25 size Supreme would be sweet. That's gonna be my next UL reel. $100 new is out of your $$ range though. Oh, I just noticed that you said it may see saltwater. I don't know how it's magnesium components would hold up. I keep a coat of car wax on my rods and reels. Sir Snookalot has said he has not had any problems with his in the salt, maybe he could chime in....
  22. I caught a decent pike (pickerel) yesterday on a spinning outfit with braid - no leader. It can be done. This is my first year using braid, quite a learning curve for me as far as learning to ease up on the hookset. In fact, this was my first braid fish period. I had quite a few hookups prior, I think I was too aggressive and pulled the hook out.
  23. That kind of reminds me of that urban myth that went something like this: A body was found in the woods after a wildfire. Nothing too unusual about that, except the corpse had scuba gear on. In the woods, miles away from any substantial water. Turns out one of the airplanes that dumps water on forest fires had scooped the guy out of the water when it skimmed the water to refill it's tank......
  24. Whispers to bass. What do ya' tell em' ? Do they whisper back ?
