  1. Though I would consider myself average as far as knowledge on this subject ~ My advice would be - drop a waypoint on it, fish it and find out. A-Jay
  2. The trip south next week just may fix all of that for you - and in a Big Man Way ! A-Jay
  3. I'm hoping to borrow some of yours. A-Jay
  4. Yes ~ And when you put that jig in the right place, at the right time, with the right tackle - you might just find a few of the Above Average fish. A-Jay
  5. I'm with Rangerphil ~ The Carolina Rig. Casting it is bizarre and it's like fishing a shoe. I hate it. Of course my home waters have very little in the area of the bottom composition traditionally thought of as good C-rig spots. But even if they did, I probably would throw it. A-Jay
  6. Jig size & weight can be dependent on water depth, any current present and desired fall rate. 1/2 ounce jigs can be modified to fall differently and to appear larger or smaller with type of trailer you choose. I actually fish a 1/2 bait 75% of the time. A-Jay
  7. Who's in charge of checking ? A-Jay
  8. X2 Way too small for my liking. I'd also recommend something with more reserve capacity - Perhaps you should ask this member - he's volunteering. A-Jay http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/132626-lithium-battery/?p=1470822
  9. I think it means the Teacher likes you. A-Jay
  10. WOW ~! Unquestionably one of the most impressive fish posted in a while. A brown Bass that's 1/2 a gobie from smashing the 8 pound barrier is at the Very Top of the Slaunch Donkey Classification . . . . A-Jay
  11. The general sentiment at this time is "Congratulations". When I retired I never really knew what to say to that. Some embrace retirement, others no not. Like all transitions it takes a little time to acclimate but you may find being on "Mike L" time quite pleasant. I certainly do. For me this day marked the beginning of the most satisfying and yet the most challenging time of my live. Believing that the years behind me have prepared me well, was most comforting when looking ahead. Your plans going forward, to travel, have always sounded very appealing to me. Good luck . The Past is a ghost, the future a dream. All we ever have is now. ~ Bill Cosby. A-Jay
  12. And if the shaft is too short - anything more than minimal wave action will have your motor routinely coming up and out of the drink which is less than desirable. A-Jay
  13. Hello Tom and Welcome to BR ~ A-Jay
  14. Hello Brian and Welcome to Br ~ A-Jay
  15. Thinking a little out side the box ~ Rapala Sub Walk - A real sleeper of a bait. It's gets very little fan fare but is one of my most productive baits - especially on brown bass. A-Jay
  16. It's all good. That response reflected vocabulary choices that are quite common here as well. It is not necessary for you have your under garments bound tightly either. A-Jay
  17. A-Rigs, Flukes, Scroungers, Spinner baits, Swim baits, Rattle baits, Top water, Lizards, & one old kitchen Sink. A-Jay
  18. I meet my wife at the top of a Light house - the same place I asked her to marry me . . . . If she had said no . . . I was going to jump. A-Jay
  19. Might not help you in the future little boy. A-Jay
  20. Absolutely ~ And if you get a Minn Kota be sure it has the Digital Maximizer feature which controls and optimizes power to extend battery life and reduce damaging heat. You’ll stay on the water up to five times longer on a single charge. My previous model had it and I replaced it with one that didn't - bad plan. Batteries don't last nearly as long without it. A-Jay
  21. Good Luck - btw - I have that hook on 97.36% of my treble hook baits. (I'm very specific about my percentages) A-Jay
  22. X2 - as usual- Jeff's right on it. Also - not so much the reel, but the rod. Perhaps a softer rod action would help launch the bait smoother so that it doesn't tumble as violently. Makes you appreciate baits with a weight transfer system. A-Jay
  23. Hello Jonathan and Welcome to BR ~ A-Jay
  24. If you're fishing braid, especially some of the lighter stuff, they are prone to tangling up in baits. Adding a leader usually fixes it. A-Jay
