How do yall approach “Let the fish talk?”
I fishing what they're eating with one possible exception. If I think there's perhaps a nice size class of fish in the mix, or if I'm looking for a 'kicker', I might just switch out to a bigger profile offering. And when it comes to brown bass, the increase doesn't have to be much. (often better if it's not) Like going from a 1.5 to a 2.5 size square bill. Fish Hard A-Jay

6th Sense treble hooks are nearly indestructible
6th sense has been using quality hardware on most of their offerings for a while now. EWGs are my preference ~ I know we both catch a few on jerkbaits, and we'll always do better with hardware we believe in. However, I remove every round bend treble that comes on a jerkbait and replace them with EWG; every one. In fact I do not fish round bend trebles on ANYTHING. Just no confidence in them to hook or hold. Funny part might be that if I fished your baits & you fished mine, and there was no way for us to know what type of hooks we were throwing, we'd both probably still have the same hook up and landing ratio: as long as they were sharp & reasonably stout. ? National Safe Boating Week May 22-28, 2021 ~
While safe boating is important throughout the season, the official National Safe Boating Week will run from May 22–28. The nation’s biggest recreational boating safety event of the year is aimed at helping to remind boaters to keep boating safety front and center all season long. Each year hundreds of lives are lost... thousands are injured... and millions of dollars of property damage occurs because of preventable recreational boating accidents on U.S. waterways. Americans have taken to the water in record numbers to enjoy the socially distanced fun and relaxation that boating provides. With more boats and new boaters on the water, many without any boating education, boating accidents and fatalities have been rising around the country. Too often pleasure outings turn tragic. As a boat operators, passengers, or concerned individuals, we can make a difference. Here are three tips from the BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water to keep in mind as we enter National Safe Boating Week. The best life jacket is the one you will wear, meaning one that’s comfortable. There are many lightweight inflatable life jackets that fit the bill. Check the jacket’s label to ensure it’s approved for your type of boating. If the kids are visiting, don’t be tempted to put a child in an ill-fitting adult life jacket. The BoatUS Foundation’s Life Jacket Loaner program for kids offers a free and easy way to borrow an infant, child or teen life jacket for the day or weekend with locations at nearly 600 marinas, boat clubs, and other waterfront locations across the country. Learn from what the U.S. Coast Guard boating safety reports tell us: Operator inattention, improper lookout, operator inexperience, excessive speed, and alcohol rank as the top five primary contributing factors in accidents. This summer, recreational boaters can focus on these factors by putting down the cellphone, practicing using S.C.A.N. procedures to avoid distracted boating, taking a free boating safety course, slowing down, and driving more defensively, especially in congested boating areas. Alcohol use is the leading known contributing factor in fatal boating accidents, so save the celebration for after the boat is safely tied up for the night. Boat operators also need to recognize they are responsible for the safety of their guests, including inebriated ones. Remember to wear an engine cutoff switch if your boat is less than 26-feet, traveling on plane or above displacement speed. Some exemptions apply to this new rule went into effect April 1, including if the vessel has an enclosed helm. Engine cutoff switches can prevent boat strike injuries after an operator has been ejected from the vessel or displaced from the helm. Wacky Rig Fishing is EXPENSIVE
Admittedly I do not fish a Senko very much. I do believe it to be an super effective bait, there's just not a ton of deals in my brown bass fishing where I'm throwing one. However, on every trip we make south of the border, the 7 inch Senko is a major player; as a jig trailer, and on a swinghead. Big bass love them but they are so often a One Fish & Done bait. And they fly right off the hook during the fight which is a PIA. We can only bring so many baits, so when that's the bite, our 'supply' can be gone 2 days into a 6 day trip. Total bummer. Enter the Z-Man Giant TRD. Made of Z-Man’s 10x tough ElaZtech material, the Z-Man Giant TRD is extremely durable and buoyant. These baits are 6 inches long which is an inch shorter than the Senko but what it lacks in length it makes up for in girth; these are fat/stout baits. So while I can not say for sure if it's as good or better than the Original Senko - it still gets choke. Best aspect of this is that 2 packs of baits lasts us the entire trip ! I have never used the 5 inch Zinkerz bait so I can not comment if this effectiveness translates to the smaller bait. YMMV A-Jay

ARMED FORCES DAY ~
Just to be clear Keith ~ While I am also very glad to know that so many of the 99 % of this counties population that has not served (and never will), are supportive of the sacrifices made, both my wife & I are part of that other 1%. A-Jay

Yes, another Scale Q
Lots of good info and solid options offered here as usual. I have been using an Accu-Cull to weigh the local brown bass, as well as freak green bass south of the border, for a while now. My original unit (top pic) has worked well. I purchased the newest Accu-Cull scale this spring. This updated version (middle pic) offers a digital display reading that seems brighter. Better for my old guy eyes, as well as showing up in pics & video a bit better. I also have the Brecknell (bottom pic) but rarely use it. Works OK, but frankly I find it somewhat cumbersome to operate. Could just be me though. A-Jay

ARMED FORCES DAY ~
President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country. On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to honor and offer our profound appreciation and gratitude to the patriots who are serving in our Nation’s Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Their professionalism and unwavering dedication to supporting and defending our Constitution has been vital in allowing our democracy to flourish, safeguarding peace and growing prosperity for our citizens, and giving hope to oppressed peoples or those facing tyranny abroad. Less than one percent of Americans serve on active duty in the Armed Forces. Those who do volunteer to put their lives on the line to protect our country and democracy wherever they are called to serve. Whether they are Active Duty, National Guard, or in the Reserve, they are true American heroes, and we all owe them. A-Jay
