  1. Tell me about it ~ Spinnerbait you say ? A-Jay
  2. Agreed Tom ~ I'll only go as far out as I need to, but I've got to get the bite first. The long-distance hookset and the way out there fight can often be quite a gamble. A-Jay
  3. The majority of the water I'm on in search of big smallmouth is very clear. There has been a ton of most excellent advice offered here already. The one thing that I'll add, and something that has helped me a ton, is to understand and believe in "the power of distance". The further away from my boat (or canoe), I can effectively present a bait in super clear water, the more & bigger bass I usually catch. With most every presentation; topwater, crankbaits, and any soft plastic bait & rig I fish, having max space between me & the fish offers the best possibility of not announcing my presence. Often at least half the battle. Certainly not the end all answer, but it really seems to help. A-Jay
  4. Nicely Done ~ Here are some possible additions to the list: ~Check tow vehicle & trailer tire pressure and adjust as needed (include both spares). ~ Inspect trailer towing hardware ~ coupler, safety chain & nylon tow (bow) strap & gear. ~ Check motor transom bolts for correct torque & adjust as needed (and jack plate if installed). The bigger water you fish - the more important this last one is . . . . . . . ~ Ensure the 'Float Plan' you leave for a responsible adult is updated with correct info - names & numbers of who to call if you do not return on time. Include an accurate description of you, your boat, motor & trailer, including tag numbers of tow vehicle & trailer, you're cell phone # (if you carry one) as well as any & all health concerns and or life-sustaining meds you may be taking ( why you take them and the interval in which you take them). Have a great Season! A-Jay
  5. It is an effective weapon. A-Jay
  6. Guess that 2 inches put them into the Big One category. Thank you - fixed it. A-Jay
  7. Mr. Iaconelli is getting a few on a crankbait this morning. Interesting how he calls every bite a "Big One" and then need to measure the Big One to ensure it reaches the 14-inch size requirement. Maybe Big One means something else I'm not aware of . . . . I do enjoy watching the man fish when he conducts himself like a Man. A-Jay

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  9. Check out the 6th Sense Divine Hybrid Jig. It was designed to be a universal casting jig with a head shape that is a hybrid cross between a structure jig, grass jig, and football jig that provides the ability to use it in multiple locations throughout the day. The Divine Hybrid Jig functions as a multi-tasking bait for casting to shallow structure, docks, rocks, brush, and grass or for dragging out deep like a football jig. 6th Sense hybrid jigs are offered with either a standard or finesse skirt style and include a premium weed guard and 5/0 black nickel hook. https://6thsensefishing.com/collections/3-8-oz-divine-hybrid-jigs A-Jay
  10. Bet that was fun ~ Congrats 'By-Catch' is a way of life where I fish. While fishing for smallmouth, I've gotten into a number of great fish including Big Pike, Musky, Walleye, and Big Trout. Perhaps not my biggest but a couple of falls ago I got a Sturgeon . . . . That was a surprise. A-Jay
  11. While I do not have all the Classic rules & requirements committed to memory, I can tell you that anglers are EITHER fishing the Elite Series (BASS) or the Bass Pro Tour (MLF) but not both. Much of the " Classic qualifying requirements" include participation in B.A.S.S sponsored events - which none of the MLF anglers will be participating in. They all knew this going into it. But still, there's a lot of memories & friendships left sort of behind. A-Jay
  12. Yup ~ You know what it's like. The odd days when it feels like a battle just to walk into the gym; today was one of those. I'll sleep, eat and be ready for the next one. A-Jay
  13. Yup ~ This is and will be the Last Classic many of the ex-Elite anglers will fish. Unless there is some type of rules change or other very unusual deal, all the MLF anglers are done. A-Jay
  14. I haven't found 'the perfect' glove yet either. I use a few different pairs; Neoprene, wind stopper & wool. There always seems t be some sacrifice. Super Dry - lose dexterity. Super Dry - lose dexterity. Has dexterity - but is not warm or dry. Quality wool retains warmth when wet which makes it an option. Even fingerless Wool is usually decent. Seen guys wear latex under fingerless wool gloves a few times. Never tried it - but there were out there. A-Jay
  15. Wish I could say that I’m always super fired up to train, but that’s just not the case. This one took a ton of mental drive to complete. Might not have been my best effort but was definitely a whole lot better than blowing it off. The first day of spring is next week – certainly doesn’t look it around these parts. A-Jay
  16. What's different ? How about a drop Shot Rage Craw ? Or a totally sinks-like-a rock jerk bait ? Perhaps a Suspending Rattle bait ? Just to name a few. And then there's these . . . And these . . . disclaimer - these are not new to @WRB A-Jay
  17. Used in the two-stroke V-6 and now the 4-Stroke V-8. Use it in my truck as well. Vapor technology protects engine and fuel system above and below the fuel line. Helps prevent Ethanol fuel-related damage in vehicles and small engines. Advance formula for engines used in water environments, to better remove the moisture. Helps prevent corrosion damage and helps remove water. Stabilizes fuel to keep it fresh during storage. Helps clean the fuel system for improved in-season performance. Helps increase engine power. 18. Wore a couple of pair of Danner Acadia boots (insulated & uninsulated) on the job for many years. Always did me right. It was all about the 'spit shine'. A-Jay

  22. I have a few favorites reels. But truth be told, my favorite just may be whichever one I happen to be using whenever I'm connected directly to one of these ~ In this case - it was a round one. A-Jay
  23. I prefer to use a stop - but if the weights heavier and or the covers super thick, a peg seems to hold better. And I've even been known to use both. A-Jay
  24. M - Deep drop shot (over 3/8 oz), spy baits, small swimbaits, blade baits, weightless & wacky worms, Shakey heads & Neko rigs, small & medium topwater, small & medium soft & hard jerkbaits, tubes & grubs, and finesse worms & jigs. ML - Light drop shots (less than 3/8 oz), & hair jigs, ned rig and that's about it. A-Jay
