  1. That's a RE-Diculous price for that reel ! I already have way too many - but . . . . A-Jay
  2. Yea - I was ready for him - he had already passed the other way. There's no way out for him on the other end and his return is mostly predictable. It's been the same dude for a few years now. He did wipe out my mail box last storm. So that was nice. A-Jay
  3. Like @fishballer06 ~ I love that 35 - use it on several baits (again, makes a great front hook) for jerkbaits, squarebill & deeper cranks, as well as topwater baits; as long as the hook hanger is 'in line' with the bait. My other top jerkbait hooks, depending on the bait, are the Mustad KVD short shank Triple grip and the Gamakatsu Magic Eye. Both super stout & plenty sticky. A-Jay
  4. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Congrats on the New Personal Best. She's a Tank ! A-Jay
  5. Don't ya just love it when that happens ? And I was almost done too . . . A-Jay

  7. Nice ~ And who doesn't love Frogging with spinning gear ? Congrats A-Jay
  8. Hammered all weekend and this insanity is expected to continue through at least Monday night anyway. High winds, intermittent power loss with on the ground snow & ice accumulations are approaching record highs (especially for April). Some very nice 'drifts' too. I have made ZERO snow removal efforts so far as it's just been way too miserable (wind chill) to even think about it. I was hoping to attack it tomorrow but this latest forecast will most likely have me waiting until at least Tuesday. On a seriously better note - I ordered a new drop shot rod & reel today. Dog Sled team should be delivering it any day now . . . . (Last year I had already scored two 5 lb plus smallies by now - but I'm not bitter . . . ) A-Jay
  9. A splake is a hybrid of two fish species resulting from the crossing of a male brook trout and a female lake trout. A-Jay
  10. Awesome - let us know how you make out. A-Jay
  11. May depend on what you use them for. Salmon/steelhead rods generally fairly 'soft' tip, effective at what they are designed for, but may be a little soft when compared to most conventional 'bass tackle'. So the characteristics of the Hot Shot rods that you like for Salmon/steelhead, may prove to be undesirable in many bass fishing applications. A-Jay
  12. First I'll say that my swim jig selections differ between LMB & SMB. (mostly a profile size deal) For LMB I really like the 6th Sense Divine Swimjig. Does it all for me. It's a decent size profile, a Large stout hook & killer patterns. https://www.6thsenselures.com/swimjig I'm using 3/8's 75% of the time and 1/2's the rest. Usually choose a single or twin tail grub, Menace or boot tail type trailer and prefer to present these bait's around any shallow to mid-depth cover. Much of the time, I'm keeping these moving along at a decent clip and covering the upper portion of the water column. Holding the rod tip up and 'shaking it' on the retrieve has accounted for a few as well. A-Jay
  13. Hello Steve and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  14. Scott, I have good success using a Strike King Rage Bug early & late season (cold/cooler water). And a Strike King Rage Craw (or Lobster for a bigger bite) the rest of the year. A-Jay

  20. No issues for me unless you don't like having bass choking the bait all the time. A-Jay
  21. I'm near the line between I guess that's purple & dark blue. It's all good though, because I understand that the reward for enduring this mess can be pretty good. A-Jay
  22. Yup ~ Kicked it up a notch with extra padding on the hull supports and replaced the wheels & bearing with ones that were rated to deal with the 'tonnage' I was subjecting it to. A-Jay
  23. I only use round bends when I have to - Which is pretty much never. EWG's And Straight Shanks for me A-Jay
  24. Congrats on your fish bass ~ You're well on your way A-Jay
