  1. You're probably right ~ But despite have no 'official' bearing, you can bet there will be plenty of 'A-Jay' documenting going on all over the place ! A-Jay
  2. OK - so on the topic of State Record Bass - specifically in Michigan - here's a procedural question . . . With year long C & R now legal - how does one go about 'documenting' a potential state record catch during said C & R Only periods ? According to the DNR site a potential fish must be weighted on a certified / state inspected scale (ie Grocery store) - all of which would be 'illegal' IAW current published regs and I see no mention of an exception noted anywhere. So I ask you - when I catch my record smallie in two weeks - Am I mostly hosed ? A-Jay
  3. When 'swimming' a hair jig - there's never a trailer - jacks up the action (relative term). 'Crawling' one - the Reins Punching Predator Creature Bait works well in cold water. A-Jay

  6. And here's the "Official" version Nice Job again ~ @everythingthatswims LORENCE, Ala. — Adrian College’s Nick Marsh and Jarrod Layton rode a wave of shallow largemouth to victory at Pickwick Lake in the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Southern Tour presented by Bass Pro Shops with a three-day total of 58 pounds, 11 ounces. After catching over 20 pounds on both Thursday and Friday, the duo from Michigan managed 17-8 during Saturday’s final round to notch the victory by a 5-6 margin over West Virginia University’s Nolan Minor and Casey Lanier. https://www.bassmaster.com/news/college-adrian-college-wins A-Jay

  16. Some solid advice offered here so far - Something that improved my own 'bottom contact bait' fishing immeasurably - was to fish at night. Learning to feel & sense what a bottom bait is doing at all times is very valuable. This is pretty much forced upon an angler at night; seems really tough at first. One quickly learns how 'sight orientated' they are but will later come to realize how much more there is to the whole deal. Watching ones line for bites is helpful and will no doubt help detect bites. But a few successful outings in the black of night can be life changing when it comes to day time bite detection. I don't know a single night time basshead who wouldn't agree. So get a head lamp & be safe. A-Jay
  17. Not quite that fast - but sort of close. Shallower lakes will warm quickly and no surprise, the big deep clear lakes can stay fairly cool - for a-while. But that's usually a good thing. And once they all open up the hardest part is deciding where to fish . . . . A-Jay
  18. Like much of the northern part of the country, northern Michigan in particular, got hammered this month with what ended up being a record amount of snow (and cold). Swung by a local lake today to access open water potential – looks bleak. Hopefully the melt off & open water will come a lot sooner rather than later. A-Jay

  24. You know I can relate - my world is so silly - it's silly. And it's making me very silly. And I mean way more than usual, which is pretty darn silly. A-Silly
  25. If you're looking for brown bass and you have open lakes, don't let the water temps discourage you. Those temp IME do not dictate the bite. They still eat - but it's often a mid to late day deal. AND I really like the SUN. The Smallies will chew - just gotta find them. You'll know when you do - A-Jay
