  1. In a word yes. Your cranking battery also powers any & all accessories, live well pump(s) as well as any & all electronics. Ever hear any one complain because their batteries were always charged and ready to go ? Me neither. I'm running 36 volt plus the cranker and use a 4 bank Quad Pro to keep me in the juice. #pieceofmind A-Jay
  2. Berkley Big Game Mono - 15 lb test. Or, I you wanted to kick it up a notch ~ Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo Nylon Line - 17 lb test. A-Jay
  3. Early & late season - It's The Bug. Everything else ~ It's the Craw (and the Lobster for the big bite). A-Jay
  4. Right now - looking out the front ~ And looking out the back ~ Good Times. A-Jay
  5. I use & rather enjoy fishing both. My round reel collection however is 'limited' to the Shimano Calcutta D line. Helped me land a lot of bass. A-Jay
  6. Who knows Right ? It's crazy. Things I'm not looking to going forward is first, the eventual spring rains - Going to make a Huge mess - everywhere. Second, Lake Access. Waters may open up but access roads (which are NOT plowed or maintained) if not at least gravel, will be mostly impassable; especially with a boat in tow. All this will either have me staying very local or riding in style in the Old Town for the first week or so of open water. - or Both. Experience has shown though - neither is actually a bad thing. 7. My Man ~ Of course I can . . . . 301 AM EDT Fri Apr 6 2018 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT TONIGHT... * WHAT...Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches, with localized amounts up to 6 inches, are expected. * WHERE...Portions of Northern Lower Michigan. * WHEN...Until midnight EDT tonight. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions, including during the morning commute. In addition, some reductions to visibility are likely. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will cause patchy blowing and drifting snow. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. Someone get A-Jay a blanket - he's still sleeping in the Lund. A-Jay
  8. Going to make for a super short 'spring' - things happen fast up here as it is, but this could be interesting. And couple of weeks ago the box stores all put their warm weather'displays' outside. A routine occurrence. Unfortunately, the skids of fertilizer & mulch, outdoor furniture & lawn mowers are all under a foot of snow. Pretty funny and sad at the same time. You know you live in northern Michigan if you keep a winter coat, hat & gloves in the back of your rig ALL SEASON LONG ! A-Jay
  9. I fish composite / moderate action rods quite a bit; always moving baits. (spinnerbaits, vibrating jigs, & several treble hook baits) What works for me is ~ 'never stop reeling'. Feel the strike, keep reeling, - rod loads, keep reeling, - set the hook(s), keep reeling. Compared to other 'hooksets, (bottom contact presentations for instance) it does seem like an eternity waiting to feel the weight of the fish & for the rod to load; especially when I first started doing it. But now anything else seems 'too fast'. In reality it's probably a 2 count between strike detection & fish on - but I have to keep reeling. If I stop during the process at all, bass have a very decent chance to shake off. A-Jay
  10. Snow is expected to overspread northern Michigan after midnight...and continue into Friday morning while transitioning to lake effect snow showers. Locally heavy snow squalls Friday afternoon/evening combined with northwest winds gusting over 30 mph are expected to result in some nasty driving conditions into Friday evening. "I'll be downstairs" A-Jay

  12. OK ~ Good to know. btw- How's Mindy ? A-Jay
  13. As much as I'd really like to be posting up FISHING VIDEOS, the (believe it or not) sub-zero over night temps here are going to keep that action on hold for at least a couple more weeks. In the meantime - I'm going to keep working. Looking at 59 years young this summer ~ HA ! A-Jay
  14. Yea - he didn't hit it - just BLASTED it with a 45 mph, 5 ton, 30 ft Wall of Snow. I had replaced it this summer after a 'distracted drive ( a 17 yr old boy) ran it over. He stopped which was nice. I happen to be out back & heard the 'boom'. I came out front and we had a nice chat. I offered him the option of either giving me all the cash he had on him or he could get to meet 'Officer O'Mally'. I got $68 bucks. Paid for some of the replacement rig; which is now a mostly buried, and very mangled memory. Can't do anything about it now - going have to wait for the Tundra to thaw before I can sink another one. 15. For sure but . . . *** Late Entry ~ And just to keep it rolling I guess, The Giant Snow plow just De-Molished our mail box in a Big Dog kind a way . . . The hits just keep on coming . . . . . A-Jay
  16. I know - didn't see that one coming. We were at like 15 last time I took the dogs out @10 pm. it's just stupid at this point. A-Jay
  17. - 10 this morning. No Good. This latest cold snap will surely push back my open water action. Perhaps into - dare I say - Almost May ! This is not what I was hoping for. Serenity NOW ! A-Jay
  18. It's been one of 'those' weeks Started off with a foot of April Snow. Hydraulic line blew yesterday half way through the removal process. Woke up to -10 degrees this morning.; Malamutes all got cold paw. (Doesn't look like a good time). Saw another robin - reminded me of Angry Bird. I can surely relate. A-Jay
  19. I've never thought of a jig or Texas rigged plastic as a "Reaction" bait, so I don't routinely fish it like one. I prefer to look at it from the stand point of the Predator & Prey relationship. Most anything a bass eats is probably trying really hard to avoid that whole scenario. Doing anything that would draw attention to itself is often highly undesirable and could easily lead to its demise. So rather than hopping & popping a bait, there is a time & place where sneaking the bait along every so gingerly works well. Move it while imagining that you’re actually attempting to toss your bait out there and get it back without getting bit. Sounds kind of backwards I know, but the bait is in the bass's world, and she knows it's there; without the extra action. You'll find yourself fishing spots slower and more thoroughly while at the same time affording your bait the time it needs to work it's magic. Works really good at night. A-Jay
  20. Head down to root cellar ! A-Jay
  21. That's most unfortunate ~ Seeing how you don't use them any more, if you'd like to send those 'defective' FX's my way, I'd be happy to recycle those for you. I'd even be willing to cover your shipping cost. A-Jay
  22. Miss BreeZo wasn't really impressed with the additional blanket of snow we got over night. But Fenway was digging it ! A-Jay
  23. Best of luck to you Both ~ But you don't need it. A-Jay
