Cold weather Smallies ~ Gotta Love It ! Snow one day, Wind & Waves the next and a frozen face on both. You know you'll have the water mostly to yourself. You gotta want it though - clearly you do and you did. Nice work. You know I'm jealous . . . . Congrats A-Jay

Do we all carry too much tackle for too many techniques
Sometimes I fish the right place, at the right time, with the right bait / presentation. I know because I catch some bass. Now if & when one or more of those "rights", end up being wrongs, then I usually don't catch as much. So it seems to me that being in the right place, at the right time is at least as important as having the right bait. While I could (and may be coming close) carry half of TW's inventory, but if my location & timing is off, it may not help. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. A-Jay

Thanks.
Sorry to hear your Dad is having a hard time. No doubt that's a tough road for him & you. It's good that you can be there for him, especially now. It's also good that the BR Forum membership can be here for you too. Sending positive thoughts. A-Jay

Where should I move to?
Seems like Every locale has is good & perhaps not so good situations; whether it be the population (or lack of), the weather, along with a virtually endless list of things that are so very different from person to person. Great green bass fishing is often found in the warmer areas, stellar smallmouth habitat is often located is perhaps cooler places. Add in cost of living, employment or income potential, and whatever else may be higher on ones priority list (besides the fishing) and you certainly have your work cut out for you looking for The Best of it all. Then there's always the idea of leaving family & friends behind. As a career military human, I always hated that part. Good Luck to you and perhaps keep in mind - The Grass is Always Greener . . . . . btw - might be a good idea to pick a decent place close to an airport - frequent trips to great fishing isn't all that bad of a plan either. Jeff's Incredible Day on Lake Baccarac
The events on this clip occurred on the morning of November 12th, 2017 while bass fishing with my good friend Jeff Howell on Lake Baccarac in Mexico. Between about 6am and 12 noon, Big Fish Jeff had the kind of morning that many bass enthusiasts dream about. Fortunately, my GoPro & I had a front row seat. This was the last day of the trip and a heck of a great way to end it. The fishing had been very good all week (even for Lake Baccarac standards) little did we know what this magical lake had in store. While we both caught & released ‘several’ very fat bass on this special day, Jeff was landing the bigger fish. His impressive run started before the sun came up and seemed to never stop. Bass after giant bass were coming to Manual’s net. I don’t think Jeff caught a fish under 7 pounds ALL DAY ! And while much of this hot & heavy action and many of his impressive catches were caught on video, between hooking, fighting & netting so many giant bass, a few were missed. Seemed no one had a free hand to energize the camera. Even still, there’s a good bit of here and I do believe one can get a good sense of how it all went down as well as how Jeff was feeling at the time. Though it felt surreal while it was happening. So here’s The Numbers for Big Fish Jeff’s day ~ 7 over 7lbs, 4 over 8lbs, 3 over 9lbs and all that was capped off by a 10-6 Brute. That works out to an 8lb average ~ still blows my mind. Congrats my friend, I’m so glad I was there to share this most excellent trip. Hope to do it again as soon as possible. A-Jay

Lake Baccarac November 2017 ~ video added
Thanks Shimmy ~ and you're right Jeff KILLED it this trip - So much so that I'm putting together a separate video just to document his final day catches. Big Fish Jeff had a phenomenal day that included something like 7-7's 4-8's 3-9's and that 10.95 (his new PB) And most of that came in the morning before lunch ! It was super special and I'm glad I was there to share it. Most all the fish were deep - and I mean Deep - 30 - 40 ft on average & deeper. We were having decent success with swimbaits but they were taking forever to get to the bass. So we started throwing 3/4 jigs with skirts at first. 1 oz might have been better but we didn't have any. Then we took the skirts off to get & keep the baits deep and we were getting big fish on big football jigs with 7" Senko, 10" Bull worms & Magnum Flukes. Did get a few on 10XD and a 1 oz spinnerbait but the big jigs were the winners that weeks for us. And I'd Love to fish with you my friend. pm me with what you have in mind. Right off the bat, I'm looking at late Oct 2018 as a possible 'next one' - I'll miss out on some killer brown bass here but the moon is right & we both know that place is like nothing else . . . . nothing. Still nothing solid yet for me either. A-Jay
