Nice Bass ~ Congrats As for a weight - there could be an 8 in it I guess. Although it might not be on the left of the decimal. A-Jay
  2. Nice bass ~ Congrats btw - that shoreline there is starting to look pretty familiar A-Jay

  4. I have never been on Conway and truth be told, it's been a long time since I've fished Squam as well. But I have a friend with a cabin on Squam and without getting into details, he does 'OK' on the smallies there. Also the north end of Lake Winnipesaukee is pretty killer for both brown & green bass. It's big water through - watch the weather and you'll do better with good mapping. btw - check the regs and make sure that whatever you fish - you're legal - Officer McScrubberson is always out & about. Congratulations to Jordan Lee – 2017 Bassmaster Classic Champion ! Coming from well down the leader board, and not allowing mechanical problems with his Outboard on this final day, derail him, Mr. Lee over came the largest deficit in Classic history to win - Pretty Awesome. I enjoyed the heck out of this one. btw - Quantum wins another one. A-Jay

  12. The Bassmaster Elite Series is the highest level of professional bass fishing tournaments. Competitors must qualify for the series through the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Opens or the B.A.S.S. Nation, and anglers who are already on the Elite Series must re-qualify each year by maintaining enough points throughout the season. The pro anglers compete all season for the opportunity to win points toward the Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year award and to qualify for the Bassmaster Classic. A-Jay

  14. A few trains of thought here for me. - Braid & a leader allows for good hooksets and plenty of distance. - Straight flouro allows for plenty of distance but may not offer the best hookset on strike with the bait on pause, especially on a long line. I do both - In clear water where or any place where distance seems important - I'll bomb casts when using braid. - When throwing a jerk and using flouro, I try to only shoot casts as far as I need to in order to get bit - hoping to minimize line stretch (sometimes that's hard to do). Day 3 ~ This Final Day of the 2017 Classic is set to get underway here in less than an hour. The local forecast is calling for cloudy skies with early peaks of sunshine late, High of 83F, Winds SSE at 10-20 mph, but mostly calm early. Day 1 saw a south wind that was a bit stiffer than today’s forecast, Day 2 winds diminished some but backed all the way around to the north, which in March seems to cool off a bit. The surprising number of angler zero’s seemed to indicate that may have been a contributing factor. So that south wind today may see an improvement in both numbers & size. This final day is loaded with a number of interesting story lines. The field has been trimmed to the top 25, with some seriously heavy weight sticks rounding out that list. Despite a tremendous amount of fishing pressure, when one considers the number of plus 8-10 pound bass Lake Conroe somehow routinely produces, most anyone left in today’s derby has a legitimate chance to get their fishy paws on that trophy. So who will it be ? Can Brent Ehrler go wire to wire and win his first ? Or will Dave LeFebre continue his impressive move up the leader board to claim the top prize. With the likes of Edwin Evers, KVD, Ike & Steve Kennedy not very far behind them both, I’m betting they’ll feel the pressure, how will it affect them ? And what about Bradley Roy, a Rookie, who’s managed to deify and ignore the odds to battle his way to 5th place, think he got any sleep last night ? Then there’s James Elam who’s starting this final day sitting in 4th place six pounds or so behind the leader. Despite being considered one of the very talented new comers on the Elite Series, this Oklahoman is quietly riding under the radar in this his second Classic appearance. There’s plenty more to consider and as always, the events of the day are bound to spawn any number of intriguing and surprising story lines that can & often do play a part in determining the out come to just who will be crowned the 2017 Bassmaster Champion. Here we go ~ ! A-Jay
  19. As I see it, The Best place for this fine human to be Is In Front of me; both on the road & on the water. This gives ME all the control, and almost eliminates his opportunity to jack up me or my gear; because we both know he's almost certainly going to try, eventually. Once 'The Jack Wagon Syndrome' has been recognized, my standard defense is to simply slow down and then smile & wave as the 'accident waiting to happen' goes on by. Then it's just a matter of sitting back, waiting & watching as the insanity ensues. Usually doesn't take long. A-Jay

On the strength of TWO 20lb bags Dave Lefebre from Erie, PA is currently sitting in 2nd place on day two. Brent Ehrler backed his day one 23-3 lb bag with another 20 sack to stay on top of the leader board so far on day two. The final day is shaping up to be pretty killer. A-Jay
