  3. First time I've seen that one - pretty slick. A few thought and clearly these are from the cheap seat as I've not seen nor ever been in one of these. My Old Town ~ Weights 120 dry hull. Been fishing in solo for going on 10 years. Love it. I trailer it. Loading & Unloading the gear before & aft the launch can be labor intensive depending on how much is brought. But leaving gear in it during trailering as well as recovering it is Not an option. Clearly just a canoe & I use it that way. The Solo Skiff also looks like a flat water, sheltered water, super calm day type of deal to me. A-Jay

  7. Although the first responses to Flippin’ weren’t too positive, it didn’t take long for anglers to realize its effectiveness. The technique was winning nearly all of the early tournaments in the west and even though anglers hated this form of tule dippin,’ what they didn’t realize was this form of fishing was way more than just a technique. 12. I do not have the Minn Kota Ulterra - I have a Fortrex. My decision had little to do with the actual subject of this thread. However, after reading through it, between trying to decipher those instruction, to pulling off the balancing act that's required up on the bow to actually performing that evolution - the whole thing seems like one big PIA. Definitely motivation enough to ensure that if at all possible, I didn't run my juice down to zero. I guess something similar would be the Minn Kota Talons that also have a manual override system. It requires a specific but common size wrench or socket & ratchet to "hand Crank" the spike up into the base unit. If one had that at the ready they're good to go as there's no need to take anything apart to access the override as the nut head is exposed. A-Jay
  13. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Whatever reel you choose - There is a learning curve to using revolving spool gear. During the process some line may be sacrificed. MONO may be a better choice during the "I'm learning to cast" phase, just because it's less expensive. 15lb Trilene Big Game is a decent choice here. Once you've got a handle on that, re-spooling with something else may not be entirely necessary but is certainly an option. Besides all the info offered by the BR Forums, the Articles section can be just as useful ~ Here's one of many. https://www.bassresource.com/beginner/how-to-use-baitcaster.html Good Luck A-Jay
