Ideal swim bait rod?
Works well with Hollow belly baits as well. The pick placement can assist with proper hook placement where there is no plastic to do it. Pick will generally be most beneficial in the hollow baits when placed Under the jig hook. A-Jay

Ranger R17 (Throttle Response)
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Unfortunately I'm not mechanically inclined enough to a offer any useful advice. Plenty here are. I would advise that you address / correct that throttle issue. If that throttle pause also becomes one the "sticks" - it could be very dangerous. A-Jay

Just venting
I'm very sorry to hear about your Parents - I lost my Dad this past year. I do realize this sounds super cliché' but I just try to remember the good times. It helps a little. Hope you & your family can find peace. A-Jay

What Length Rod For Spinnerbaits?
My spinnerbait fishing consists mostly of three different types of presentations based on how, where & when I'm throwing a spinnerbait. First one is daytime shallow water, target casting to various forms of cover; docks, a variety of shoreline stuff / wood or vegetation pockets, lily pads & sub or near surface weeds. Here I'm using a 6'6" - 6'10' MH Fast Graphite stick and braid. Second presentation is also a daytime deal which is more of an open water "launching" where I'm usually burning the bait & covering water. Here I'm looking for distance and will go with a 7'4" Composite rod. I like the way it loads, casts, hooks & fights what for me is most often stout smallies. I go braid & flouro interchangeably here. This is what it looks like - btw there's no fish catching here, just a lot of casting. I was ready though . . . . Final spinnerbait method for me and perhaps my favorite, is throwing them At Night. I'm usually using the same sub 7' graphite stick I used in the first technique but at night, I can & do plus size my line to 20 lb mono. Fish can't see it and I've learned over the years that shorter casts are king at night, so stretch is not a problem. The mono's strength & somewhat forgiving handling is a huge benefit when the big girls come out under the cover of darkness. A-Jay

Have I paired my rods and reels right?
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ As for matching your set ups, fish them like they are. If you like them & they work, Cool. If not, switch it and see what works. You'll learn quite a bit that way on your own. Good Luck & Have Fun. A-Jay

Snell Knot Abrasion
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Flipping / Pitching with heavy tungsten bullet weights that ride & pound directly on any knot, including a snell knot can contribute to sudden, unexpected & premature line failure. An additional bobber stop at the back of the weight, between the weight and the hook, can help prevent this. Another contributing factor to line failure can be the tungsten weight itself, particularly the products that do not have an insert, have a rough, unfinished line pass through area and / or rough / sharp edges; especially when using braided line. Some dedicated flippers utilize a short section of heat shrink tube placed inside these weights to combat the abrasion that might otherwise cause distress. btw - I personally do not buy into "the snell knot hinge" on the hookset delusion. There are a number of very strong & perfectly effective knots other than a snell, that when tied correctly will help deliver a sharp hook into a big bass. A-Jay

Navionics Web App Symbol Help
I'd say @gulfcaptain has it right. ChartNo1 has it as "Danger line: A danger line draws attention to a danger which would not stand out clearly enough if represented solely by its symbol (e.g. isolated rock) or delimits an area containing numerous dangers, through which it is unsafe to navigate" Translated into "Bass Head" that may mean "Throw Squarebills & Jigs here with wreck less abandon".
