  7. Glad to hear you're enjoying your New Pro V Bass boat - Mine should be at the dealership later this week. As for fasteners coming loose, the application of Loctite on the repeat offenders could help. http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/10/15/t_lkr_red/overview/Loctite-Threadlocker-Red-271.htm A-Jay

  9. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Clearly I'm bias, but I'd say go Old Town or don't go at all ! A-Jay
  10. I don't do a ton of Senko fishing but the few times I "Have to", I'm using gear very similar to yours and It works for me. Unless I'm in very heavy cover & I've plus sized my gear, a standard wire Gamakatsu ewg hook works fine. 2/0 for 4 inch baits & a 3/0 for 5 inch baits. I make sure my hook is sticky sharp and not totally buried in the bait. 8lb test & a spinning rod doesn't have a ton of horse power but plenty to do the job when only skin hooking the bait & the hook is sharp. As for the hook setting "motion" - overhead or off to the side, I don't think that matters a whole lot. As long as the fish has the bait (and Hook) in it's mouth and it's not swimming straight at you, once fairly quick & sufficient pressure is applied - you'll come tight. Finally, if you're not doing so already - this is a must. A-Jay
  11. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ As for relearning to bass fish after 45 years - do whatever you were successful with back in the day. I'm betting that you'll find the bass pretty much in the same type of places. So it's like riding a bike -again. You'll probably be a little wobbly at first but once you get back in the groove it will be a lot better. By the way, the rods, reels & lines have all improved since Tricky Dick was running the show and "Electronics" play a serious role in the bass fishing game for many boat owners as well. Finally, there's this entity call The Bait Monkey. You'll know him when you meet him. Be warned, he can be problematic. A-Jay

  19. Coast Guard Approved gear satisfies two fairly important requirements. 1. The Federal, State & any Local mandate regarding PFD's always indicates USCG Approved. 2. These units may actually help save your life. So whatever that's worth to you - spend as you see fit. Mustang makes a pretty good unit. A-Jay
