  1. Here's some info ~ http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/160685-gliss-monotex-line-a-brief-review/?hl=gliss I would be hesitant to use the 40lb Gliss in very heavy cover - lighter stuff perhaps. A-Jay
  2. For me - If a knot is failing I always feel it's on me. Either I tied a poor one, the tackle was incorrect for the task or I choose a substandard product; but either way there are always actions that can & will be taken to correct it. Two days ago I hooked fought & landed a 25 pound plus pike on 10lb braid & a 10 mono leader. Fight lasted almost 20 minutes. Clearly this was by-catch and there's always a margin of good fortune involved but that tackle was stressed close to but not past what it could do; including the Uni-knots used to connect the braid/mono. btw - I had to stop using fluoro for leader material - knot strength is problematic - at least for me. 9. I thought my final trip of the season had been made last week but the weather forecast for today was just too good to pass up - so I headed for my favorite smallie lakes. The morning air temps were in the low Twenties but Man - am I ever glad I went ! While fishing a blade bait through a saddle area ( in 25 ft) between two underwater humps, the bait just stopped. I set the hook and immediately thought it was probably Not a smallmouth bass. This lake has a healthy population of walleye and a few Pike & Musky. I didn't know what I had but judging by the crazy wide head shakes - whatever it was, it was BIG ! Immediately, my mind goes right to - "Oh man, my leader is only 10lb mono ! " This lake has clear water so I always go a little lighter to get bit. Since whatever this was, was towing the Old Town - I was hoping that the 3/4 ounce silver Buddy was positioned in a "Good Spot" - meaning away from the teeth and that my uni to uni braid to mono knot was good. ( as it turned out- it was). After a few minutes, the fish came into view and it was a really big pike. My heart sunk. I was both excited & bumming. Clearly, my bass net was not an option. But I'd run through this scenario a hundred times in my head. Hook a Big Fish - Head to the bank. So that's what I set out to do; unfortunately, it was over 300 yards away. I knew I would need to remain patient & composed if I was going to get a chance to handle this Beast. I tried to stay focused but I won't lie - I was pooping my pants ! It took forever but all the way to the bank, this mutant pike was being surprisingly cooperative. Until we got to the shallower water, then she made several long & determined runs for freedom. The kind that makes the reel scream and my knees weak. After what seemed like an eternity, she started to show signs of weakness. I was hesitant to fall for her ploy at first, but then it became apparent that after what was way too long in my mind, she'd had enough and I was able to bring her all the way to the beach. What a relief ! ! ! I was fortunate again in that one of the lake's few all season residents, had seen the insanity unfold from her cabin. She was easily at least as excited as I was and showed up at the bank with her camera just as I was beaching the beast. After some pleasantries, she snapped off a couple of pics and stated: "my Dad is Never gonna believe this one!". I managed to quickly measure & weigh the fish before spending several minutes working to revive the pike. The 44-degree water temp definitely helped out and with a couple of way Big Tail swishes, my PB Pike Blasted out of sight. Man, that felt Good. Stats - 41.5 inches long 20-inch girth - 25.52 pounds. Though not a bass - That fish defined my entire 2015 season. The pic's are cool - but don't do the fish justice. The video tells the real story. ~ The video is loading up now. I'll warn you in advance, it's 16 minutes plus long and there's a little colorful language in the beginning, sorry. But I am SO Glad I had the video going to document what may be the largest freshwater fish I ever catch ! I'll post it as soon as it's ready. A-Jay

  12. That a look at the Crush 250MD from 6th Sense Lures. It has a tapered tail design that creates a sweet action. At 5/8 ounce, it casts great and runs at 7-12 feet with very little drag. Like all the 6th sense baits, it comes with quality & sharp VMC black nickel hooks and top of the line paint schemes with realistic 3D gill plates, 3D eyes, and 3D scales. This really differentiates the CRUSH 250MD from all mid-range diving crankbaits on the market. A-Jay edit ~ just checked and BPS doesn't carry any of the 6th Sense line - too bad.
  13. That was all kinds of Crazy ~ Just like they drew it up . . . Wow A-Jay

  15. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but this response does not answer the OP or even offer anything that resembles useful information. Nice story though. To the OP - I like the reel below quite a bit. A-Jay
  16. The Major Difference In Cheap Reels And Expensive Ones ~ As with many things, paying more doesn't guarantee a better functioning product. There are some cheaper models that work well, and some that provide endless problems. But the same can be said for some more expensive models. There are sites that review the functioning of specific brands and models, which are useful in guiding your decisions. Style and long term reliability often come into play but if you are happy with the cheaper ones then don't spend the bucks on something else. They can easily be replaced should you change your mind down the road. A-Jay
  17. Good Info - Thanks for sharing it. For me the whole key to fishing the hair is S L O W . . . and then S L O W E R . . . . and finally S L O W E S T . It works for sure - but it's sort of like fishing in a Coma or with live bait. A-Jay
  18. Could You Beat Kvd 1 Vs 1 ? Maybe, but only if I could add one of these to my tackle box . . . But even then it would still probably be pretty close. A-Jay

  20. So what would one call it if I sell the Corvette (in my case it's actually a mint GTO) to buy the new & loaded Lund ? A-Jay
  21. There are some real jerkbait aficionados here of which I will not claim to be one. But in my somewhat limited experience, dirty water or limited visibility water is often tough sledding with jerkbaits. Any success I've see & had in these conditions almost always happen on or very close to the bottom. So baits that get down there often produce with a little more regularity. btw - LUCKY CRAFT Pointer 100DD and XD in Nishiki (color # 251) has produced well in 3 or 4 feet of vis). A-Jay
  22. You asked for it ~ Here's the store with The Best Lucky Craft Selection on the web. For example, they offer 787 different Pointers ~ That's insane ! A-Jay http://stores.ebay.com/I-Love-Hard-Bait
