Same temps up here too. Well, I'd need to subtract 82 degrees. But other than that we are totally the same. 😎 A-Jay
  3. We got hammered again. There was already 8 inches or so on the ground from the other day so it's hard to say what we got this time. One things for sure, it's a true to life Winter Wonderland up in here. I'll be blowing snow again tomorrow. Might try to get a few pics or perhaps some video. I'm starting to get a little impressed at this point. A-Jay
  4. Workout Day 1 this afternoon. Started off a little slow but seemed to build momentum as I got into it. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  5. Not sure - this pic was taken with a Canon Rebel 7 with 75-300mm lens, pretty low light and a good distance away. Last winter we had a Great Horned Owl here for a few weeks but never could get a pic as we'd only see it at night. This bird seems a bit smaller and doesn't have the 'horns'. The give away is always the agitated group of cawing crows. They seem to come from near and far to harass the owls for hours. Pretty sure the crows have good reason, as the Great Horned Owl is their most dangerous predator. A-Jay
  6. Past two weeks or so, there's been 'evidence' that the local rabbit population was being dined on. But there hasn't been any footprints so we had to think it was an aerial attack. My wife may have confirmed it when she took the dogs out this morning. We usually see one or two of these a winter and certainly appreciate them helping to keep the varmint kong population in check. 7. How many times have you been there and when was the last time you went ? A-Jay
  8. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Nice Rig A-Jay
  9. Scoretracker is ahead of the live feed. So it's already over. Justin Cooper was able to hold off the charge of the sticks chasing him and hang on for the win. Congrats to him on his first win. That was decent. A-Jay
  10. 25 minutes left ! Super close at the top Oh My A-Jay
  11. Tournament Leader Cooper coming up clutch. Just hung a 5 lb Ditch Pickle on the leaderboard. Rest of the fields rod grip just got Tighter ! A-Jay
  12. 80 minutes of fishing time left. Can Justin Cooper hang on for the win ? Or will Cody Miller, Jacob Wall or Jacob Wheelers run him down ? Lastly Justin Lucas only needs 2 World Record Bass to go from Zero to Hero. A-Jay
  13. Admittedly, some of that there above was for effect. Meaning there's no BFS and ned rigs being used effectively there. Muskie gear is a tad big IMO, But Again, HEAVY bass gear. 20-25 lb FC, We use light swimbait rods for jig rods. And H/F or XH/F casting gear for just about everything else. My first trip I brought my own gear from home and got taken to school 20. I was using 14 lb test lost so many fish the guide was yelling at me in Spanish. Pretty sure there was some cursing & insults in there somewhere. I earned every one too. I changed to 20 lb big game at lunch on the first day. That was better. The fish are just bigger and totally wild. They Pull like freight trains. Your first 6 lb fish, you'll swear is a DD. And the DD are just IN-Sane. See now, you got me all jacked up ! Really hope I get to go again. A-Jay

  17. So what you're saying is that winter here will be over a full month early ? AWESOME ! 😃 A-Jay
  18. Tipping is an individual matter that each angler decides for themselves. However, while I haven't been there in a couple of three years and it may have changed, Some guides are in high demand thus they command the highest tips and some of them have/had an actual per day 'charge'. Not sure what it is now so what we paid is irrelevant. Best to check with the lodge for current prices & policies on everything including tipping. There are rods to rent at the lodge. You'll need your own reels, baits & line. And I can't stress this enough . . . Unless you routinely fish for and catch Bull redfish sized bass, the gear you use at home is seriously inadequate. Heavy gear is a must. There is no best time - the best time is anytime you can go. Now stop wasting time and get your Basshead down there ! A-Jay
  19. I like St Croix gear too. A-Jay
  20. @Glenn your fish does not need a chair, but I have many potatoes in my suitcase so I feel tree smiles and the posterior of my rug spiral is tornado jewel beetle. 🤓 A-Jay
  21. When considering cost, commercial air fare to and from your location and either Los Moches or Culliacan Mexico must be added. The ride to and from the lodge / airport is included. A-Jay
  22. My insulated / cold weather gear is Simms - Very Good. My uninsulated / warm weather gear is HUK and Calelas Guide wear - both decent. The Guidewear is gortex. Not the most comfortable but definitely more waterproof than the non-gortex HUK. Although I wear the HUK the most as it is more comfy, good wind breaker and I will layer under it if it's nippy. A-Jay
  23. Mexican bait monkey was hounding me bit this week. So I picked up a few magnum underspins & swimbait trailers just to get him off my back. While hammering 4-6 lbers around some trees with a Fluke/scrounger combo, the DD pictured joined the party. I have a good supply of this bait combo at the lodge. 275 Days and a Wake Up ~ A-Jay
  24. Widespread snow continues across northern Michigan into this afternoon. Additional snowfall is expected today with highest amounts Right over Lake Menderchuck. Looking ahead Active weather is expected to continue this week with a growing potential for widespread accumulating snowfall Wednesday night into Thursday morning as low pressure moves across the region. Accumulating lake effect snow showers may follow for Thursday afternoon into early Friday. So I'll be busy. Last few years lake levels have been noticeably low for the first time since We've lived here. Negatively affected a couple of my really prime areas, especially early season. I don't think it's reasonable to expect it all back in one winter but it sure would be nice. Either way, this mess might mean we're headed in the right direction. 68 Days and a Wake up ~ A-Jay
