  1. Very well put !!!!
  2. I do like the PQ and the Citica and I have a number of setup's of both. The Lews I don't know anything about, looks and feels like a nice reel. But I love the PQ and the Citica,so just go and feel how they are in your hand. Bass Pro has sales alot on the PQ .And Gander Mtn. has the Citica's on sale ( for $79.99 ) untill March 31.
  3. Catt and I are old school! That was how I did teach myself as did Catt, Was that wrong,maybe/maybe not.But in the world of fishing today maybe not good advice. I think Catt and myself were very dedicated to get better and learn every technique to better us. And this was evan more inportant for me in tournaments. I was always good at fishing a jig/T-rigging, so when I started to fish my first tournaments I thought I would win or place high in the standings=was I WRONG,I got my butt handed to me.So a very good friend of mine ( and a very good bass fisherman ) told me that I needed to get better at other techniques! So I took a year off from tournaments and I did go out and get better at other lures and techniques. The next year I went back to tournaments and I did alot better!
  4. These are very good posts. Another way of getting to be better at fishing a certain lure= If you want to be better at crankbaits than fish with a good crankbait guy and so on! That is why getting into a bass club can help guys/gals to better themselfs.
  5. I agree with everyone here!!!!! But I know color of a bait can make a big difference! So if you are fishing a trick worm and you are not getting a bite try a new color it has saved me many times. Not sure if you are doing that because some people get stuck on one or two colors. I guide here in Wisconsin and I had more than a few trips were color was a big factor. I took some guys out and the bite was hot on a greenpumpkin brush hog ( same lake ) and a day later they would not pick up that color so I tryed 4 other colors and they went nuts on a brush hog in candy bug color. But to be a better all around fisherman you need to get better at other things too. And if someday you want to fish in tournaments, you will do much better ,being more rounded and being able to pick apart a piece of structure.
  6. I agree with all of you. And I know I have answered a few posts telling people to do this. What I was trying to say was= say a guy was good at t-rigging and good at jigs but wanted to get good at crankbaits ( myself with cranks )then leave the jigs and t-rigs at home.Because evan if the crankbait bite is not on for him he will not give up fishing but just go back to what he does best,t-rig/jigs. Now for a guy just starting out, that would be bad advive I agree!
  7. I can add to this a bit! It would not be a bad idea to get some fluorocarbon line ( like Seaguar Invizx ) in 6 or 8 lb. and some of the new VMC spin-shot hooks in size 1 or 2. Good luck.
  8. That is just what I am going to do. I work at a Gander store part time and they are on sale untill March 31 and I get 20% off of the sale price!
  9. I have a Merc.150 EFI, can i use any lower end lube or should I stay with with what Merc. promote's? I was going to go get some at a Gander store and just thought I better ask?
  10. I can't tell ya! Our bass season is closed untill the first Sat. in May! ( Rivers are open all year ). The bass spawn here in SE Wis. is mid may -mid to late June. Not this year if this weather keeps going they will be done by the end of April! I have to get out of this state, that is one reason I am moving to Table Rock in MO.
  11. I think RW is wright on! If I were you I would fish both, one rod a T-rig and another a C-rig if you want to learn how to fish it. The C-rig is a very good search rig. But if you want to get good at a C-rig then just take a C-rig with you in the boat ( no other set up's just the C-rig ). Rw is wright about soft bites and deep hook -ups. The bite will feel heavy or like a wet wash towel, when you start to pull. But get good at both rigs, they are big time bass tech.'s.
  12. Yes,this is true! I fish Power Pro but I like the Sufix a tad better. It does not fray as soon as PP. But I never had a problem with braking 65 lb braid. The 832 is very good also it was the first round braid to come out last year. ( all braids are flat ) and I think PP came out this year with there new braid that is also a round braid. And the KVD L&L is a GREAT line cond. for any line!!
  13. Good job, your all set! Good luck and keep us up to date!
  14. Very, braid line is the most sensitive line of all the lines!
  15. VMC hooks are one of the very best hooks out there! My number one hook!
  16. I would post that in the Bass boat forum. You will get more help.Just go up to fishing forums and click on bass boat forum and then post.
  17. I did pick up some KVD square bills yesterday. Thanks for all the feed back.Farmer I will take a look at the DT fat 3's. Any colors that you think I should get?
  18. I have never done this. But I have a few friends that fish the BFL and they put worms/craws in a bag with garlic chopped up and they say that makes a difference. To each there own!
  19. Gamma line was one of the very best lines out there! And it is back with new owners but, the same great line. May be the best line that I ever fished with!
  20. True, but I wanted something where I can control the bait better and a bit slower.
  21. Yep,I agree it will catch fish as long as the worm does not tare up. Don't worry about the sent as much as the action and the color of the worm. The Jelly worm are great and have been around a long time!
  22. If you put the Dirt Dog on backwards on a swim jig/flip jig the little legs just shake and the little paddle tail vibrate real cool.
  23. I did mean ticking the weeds, not fishing in them with a crank. Thanks,so i think I will stay with the round bills then. You saved me some money. I just thought that maybe the square bill would react different when tipping the tops of weeds vs. a round bill?
  24. If you want I can put my wife on here if you want to get yelled at? LOL
