Try fishing it on a weighted hook!

I always use backing. I guide and I have 28 rods in my boat so it could cost me alot of money if I didn't back fill.

I hear ya. I like to fish his punch skirts on on Robo worms on a t-rig, I use them on brush hogs,Paca craws,Ribbon tail worms ( 7in, to 15 in. ) lizards, grubs,beavers,tubes! I also trim the skirt on these rigs. It is a killer look. I guide at night and what a differance it makes! I also use the punch skirt on what they call a C rig/drop shot rig. It is a 3 way swivel with a short tag to the drop shot weight and then a long tag to your bait. try this with the punch skirt and fish it kinda fast but keep the weight on the bottom! This rig has caught some BIG fish for me the last two years and I fish alot of deep water!

The Spring Classic lasts 3 weekends and it starts Feb. 24 to March 11. I am pretty sure they have it on the second weekend. It will be in the Spring Classic flyer. And if you don't get them just check at the Bass Pro web site Basspro.com ! And they have the reel/rod trade in at ALL stores.

What I would do before you put the braid on your BC. I would buy some cheap mono ( Big Game )and fill up the reel and practice with your reel. I would not put braid on untill you get pretty good at casting your reel because your going to waste much of the braid trying to learn and that will be $$$ down the drain. Get good at it and then put your braid on. The set up of the reel is VERY inportant. PM me and I will send you my phone number.I do seminars on this .

Judt check out the NorthStar web site! And take a look at his punch skirts! They would work great for a spider set up. And you can get them with or with out rattles!

I think they do this from Jan. to March sell fishing reels and rods. And they don't advertise, it just a in-store thing! You just have to stop in every so often. Good Luck! I will stop at my store. PS Last year my buddy went there and they had the Revo S and them Allstar combo's for $50.00 and they had 4 left. He bought one!!!! I think the Revo S sells for $129.00 by itself. He could have bought all of them and went on E Bay and made some money! DAH

If I where you I would fish 50 lb. and that would cover you for just about any set up! Braid does not brake down like mono and flou.! What I am saying is you don't have to change your braid for a few years. Mono and flou.line get brittle and will and brake down ! Braid will last much longer on a spool. I fish braid 2 or 3 years before I change it out.

Ya, last year they were selling the Revo S and a Allstar rod combo for $50.00 what a steel that was! I am not sure if they were marked wrong.

In Wisconsin we can have any combo of 3 hooks. So if I do get the 5 way rig, I think I could use 2 baits on there without hooks or just use a willow leaf blade. Any idea's?

Northstar Custom Baits makes a punch skirt that get you going towards making your own spider jig. I have used them on C-rigs. I think I will try that with his punch skirts. Just cut the skirt to size. And he is a sponsor site.

Ok,first you have to use a mono backing with braid lines! And I would back fill the reel with a old mono about half or more depending on the braid's pound test you are going to use! Braid is not a cheap line ( $$$ ) and it is very thin so you can put alot on! What I do with my BC'ers is I put the backing more than half to 3/4, you have to just look and see what you think is good . Remember braid is very thin and it has No strech and is a very senative line. As for pound of test it all depends on what bait you will be fishing, With a frog I fish 65 lb.,a swimming jig I wlll fish 30lb. a C-rig I fish 50lb.If a T rig I could fish 20lb. to 30 lb.! If you have two spools fill one with one say 50lb. and the other with 30lb. and you can always change spool if you want. As for braid to a leader line,that is fine many people do that and I do too. A good knot is the uni knot. If I am fishing a very clear lake I will fish flou.carbon leader on my braid. I hope this did help!

Yep, i have done the reel trade many times to buy a better reel and get a good discount. But they have never done a rod trade in!! Oh Boy.!! I think they do it only one weekend of the Spring Classic. And the rod and reel have to work because they donate them to the kids club or make-a-wish or something like that. It is a good thing for the kids that are not well off. A few years, I would trade in two reels and only buy one,it helps the kids out!

I know that Bass pro during there Spring classic has a reel trade in program. But in my flyer I got today it says Rod and Reel Trade in???? If I can trade in a rod=now that would be cool!

I was also thinking of getting another Carbonlite. I like that reel alot. But over the years I have heard alot of good things about the PQ's. I may have to pick one up.

I see that Bass pro has this reel on sale! A $ 109.00 reel for $ 79.97, I don't know much about Browning reels. I did not need another Bc reel,but I say that every year and I still buy them!!! Any info Thanks!

I see that Bass Pro is selling the 5 bait rig. I did get there flyer today and it was in there. Not sure who the makes it or is it the BP verison.
